Following several months of speculations, BLACKPINK has announced its comeback. The group, which comprises Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé and Lisa, is set to drop their second album in September—then embark on a world tour in October. The announcement was made on August 1st at midnight, KST.
The group's agency YG Entertainment dropped an announcement trailer that mentioned that the group will drop a pre-release single in August, the album in September, and they will kick off on their much-anticipated tour.
This marks BLACKPINK’s first comeback in approximately one year and 10 months since they released their first studio-length album THE ALBUM in 2020 along with the title track ‘How You Like That’ and the special collaboration song ‘Ice Cream with American singer Selena Gomez.
Last year, Rosé dropped her highly anticipated solo album 'R'. The title track 'On The Ground' was unveiled on March 12. In April 2021, she released the music video for the B-side track 'Gone'. Following this, Lisa made her solo debut with 'Lalisa' and a B-side track 'Money'. The group's eldest member is yet to release solo music but made her lead actress debut in Snowdrop Korean drama alongside actor Jung Hae In. Jennie, on the other hand, will make her international series debut in The Weeknd's upcoming HBO series, The Idol.
