Taylor Swift was denied a cameo request by director Chris Weitz in Twilight: New Moon - “I kick myself for it”

It turns out, Taylor Swift was a serious Twilight fan, so much so, that she requested to make a cameo in Twilight: New Moon, but – her request was rejected thanks to her superstardom.

Taylor Swift was denied a cameo request by director Chris Weitz in Twilight: New Moon - “I kick myself for it”

According to Variety, as revealed by director Chris Weitz, Taylor Swift’s agent said that Swift was ready to do any kind of role in New Moon, even just “someone at the cafeteria, or the diner or whatever. She just wants to be in this movie.”

Chris Weitz rejected the agent’s request, believing that Swift was too big of a star to appear in the film. If Swift popped up on screen, she would immediately distract from the other actors and the story. “Taylor Swift was a huge Twi-hard, and Taylor Swift and I had the same agent at the time and he said, ‘Taylor would like to be in this movie – not because of you, but she’s a Twi-hard,” Weitz recently revealed in an interview.

“The hardest thing for me was to be like, the moment that Taylor Swift walks onto the screen, for about five minutes, nobody is going to be able to process anything,” Weitz said.

He added, “I kick myself for it too, because – I was like, wow, I could’ve been hanging out with Taylor Swift. She must have been like, ‘Who is this jerk?’ But sometimes you make decisions thinking this is for the best of the film.” Swift briefly dated Twilight star Taylor Lautner, who plays werewolf Jacob Black in the film franchise.

The duo Taylor Lautner and Taylor Swift,  affectionately known as “Taylor Squared,” met on the set of the rom-com drama Valentine’s Day, which ended up getting released in 2010.

Meanwhile, Taylor Swift is next set to appear in David O. Russell’s  high profile project Amsterdam, which also stars Christian Bale, Margot Robbie and John David Washington.
