For the unversed, the Cockroach Janata Party has been staging protests over the alleged NEET-UG paper leak. In a recent turn of events, a demonstration near Parliament turned violent, with injuries reported among both police personnel and protesters. While authorities have maintained that protesters became aggressive despite repeated warnings, students and demonstrators have alleged that police used force without provocation. As investigations and political exchanges continue, Kashyap's posts have added another prominent voice to the ongoing public discourse.

EXCLUSIVE: 3 Idiots returns to cinemas on September 4, 2026; NH Studioz seals landmark three-figure crore Vidhu Vinod Chopra Films catalogue acquisition

Last year, to celebrate Aamir Khan's 60th birthday, a special film festival was organized across cinemas, allowing moviegoers to revisit several of the superstar's iconic films, including Dangal, Lagaan, Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke, Raja Hindustani, Ghajini, Akele Hum Akele Tum, Andaz Apna Apna, Taare Zameen Par, Sarfarosh, Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar, Talaash, Fanaa, Dil Chahta Hai, Dil, PK, Dhoom 3, Rang De Basanti, Ghulam, Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, Secret Superstar and Laal Singh Chaddha. However, one of his biggest and most celebrated films, 3 Idiots (2009), was notably absent from the line-up. Bollywood Hungama has now exclusively learned that the Rajkumar Hirani-directed blockbuster is finally set to return to cinemas, courtesy of NH Studioz.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, "N H Studioz, under the leadership of Shri Narendra Hirawat and Shreyans Hirawat, has pulled off one of the biggest catalogue acquisitions in recent times by securing the rights to a major slate of films from Vidhu Vinod Chopra Films. The deal is said to be worth a staggering three-figure crore amount."

The Vidhu Vinod Chopra Films catalogue acquired by NH Studioz includes Khamosh, Parinda, 1942: A Love Story, Kareeb, Mission Kashmir, Munna Bhai MBBS, Parineeta, Lage Raho Munna Bhai, Eklavya: The Royal Guard, 3 Idiots, Ferrari Ki Sawaari, PK, Broken Horses, Wazir, Sanju, Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga and Shikara.

The source further revealed, "As part of its strategic plans, N H Studioz is set to bring back the iconic blockbuster 3 Idiots to cinemas with a grand re-release on September 4, 2026, giving audiences an opportunity to experience one of Indian cinema's most beloved films on the big screen once again."

Interestingly, 3 Idiots will arrive in cinemas during the Teachers' Day week, making the timing particularly apt given the film's memorable portrayal of student life. The re-release also coincides with producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra's birthday, which falls on September 5, that is, the same day as Teachers' Day.

Today, N H Studioz boasts one of India's largest film libraries, with nearly 5,000 titles across multiple languages. The company continues to strengthen its presence in content ownership, distribution and production. It is also gearing up to produce an Akshay Kumar-starrer, besides another ambitious project with one of the industry's leading filmmakers.

The acquisition marks another notable high-value real estate transaction involving a Bollywood celebrity, with Bandra (West) continuing to remain one of the city's most preferred destinations for luxury residential investments.

While John Abraham largely keeps his personal life away from the spotlight, the actor has consistently made headlines for his work across diverse genres as well as his business ventures. Mrunal Thakur and Huma Qureshi starrer Pooja Meri Jaan set to stream on ZEE5 after four-year delay

After remaining unreleased for nearly four years, Pooja Meri Jaan, starring Mrunal Thakur and Huma Qureshi, is finally set to reach audiences through streaming. The thriller has officially found a platform on ZEE5, bringing an end to years of uncertainty surrounding its release. While the streaming service has announced the film as part of its upcoming content slate, the official premiere date is yet to be revealed.

Directed by Navjot Gulati and produced under Dinesh Vijan's Maddock Films banner, Pooja Meri Jaan was originally planned as a direct-to-digital release on JioCinema. However, following the merger of JioCinema with Disney+ Hotstar, the film's release plans were stalled, leaving its future uncertain for an extended period. The prolonged delay reportedly left both the cast and makers frustrated as the project remained in limbo.

Alongside Pooja Meri Jaan, ZEE5 also announced an extensive Hindi content slate featuring several new films and series. Upcoming shows include Kambli, inspired by the life of former cricketer Vinod Kambli, The Scam: Leaked, Coffee King, Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai 2.0 hosted by R. Madhavan, and the return of the classic Zee Horror Show. Popular franchises such as Rangbaaz, Janaawar, and Bakaiti are also returning with new seasons.

The platform's film lineup includes Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai starring Varun Dhawan, Pooja Hegde and Mouni Roy, Bandar featuring Bobby Deol and Sanya Malhotra, Kangana Ranaut's Bharat Bhagya Vidhata, Vaani Kapoor's Sarvgunn Sampann, as well as Ghamasaan, Ikroop, and Dalimb.

Earlier this year, director Navjot Gulati spoke about the emotional and professional impact of the prolonged delay. He revealed that his father, who passed away in 2024, spent the final months of his life asking when the film would be released. The filmmaker also alleged that co-producer Amar Kaushik stopped responding to his calls and messages after October 2025. Navjot claimed the film was held back due to a pricing dispute, alleging that Maddock Films was unwilling to sell it below its expected valuation. He further questioned why a theatrical release was never explored, citing Vadh 2 as an example of an OTT-backed film that eventually made it to cinemas.

According to Navjot, the delay has adversely affected his career, as producers have become hesitant to collaborate with him while his completed debut film remained unreleased. He even expressed willingness to buy back the film himself if the producers chose not to move forward. Pooja Meri Jaan explores the themes of stalking and cybercrime and also stars Vikram Singh Chauhan and Vijay Raaz in pivotal roles. The film completed shooting and post-production by the end of 2022.

BREAKING: Kunal Kohli follows Shekhar Kapur’s footsteps; makes international debut with haunting English film All About Her

Kunal Kohli, who made a mark with films like Hum Tum (2004) and Fanaa (2006), has now taken a leap, graduating to making international films. In June, he wrapped up the shoot of a British English feature film, All About Her. It stars Hollywood actor Nick Sagar, best known for his role in The Princess Switch film franchise. The female lead is played by British actress Amelia Gething, who caught attention with her performances in Emily and The Spanish Princess.

Kunal Kohli opened up about All About Her in an interview with Bombay Times last month. He said, “Directing an English film and working with a full British and international crew is a whole new chapter in my life. Shekhar Kapur has always been my inspiration, and I am hoping this starts a trend of more Indian filmmakers working globally. Though English is not my first language, the experience of directing a film in English has been incredibly rewarding.”

He also said, “Shooting a film in the UK with British actors and crew gave me a great deal of creative freedom. Direct interaction with the actors helped bring the characters to life on screen exactly as I had envisioned, in complete sync with Amelia and Nick. Although I was new to their industry, the actors placed their trust in me and together we created an incredible cinematic journey that we are excited to share with audiences across the world.”

All About Her is produced by Sheetal Parab. An intriguing first-look teaser poster was dropped on June 5 and the caption with the picture read, ‘A haunting psychological drama where love, guilt and identity blur into one dangerous truth’. According to a Bombay Times report, the makers plan to premiere the film at various film festivals before its release.

About Kunal Kohli

Kunal Kohli began as a film critic in the 90s and then hosted the TV show 'Chalo Cinema'. After making several music videos, he debuted as a feature film director with Mujhse Dosti Karoge (2002), starring Hrithik Roshan, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Rani Mukerji. However, it was his second film, Hum Tum (2004), which made him a director to watch out for. The Saif Ali Khan-Rani Mukerji starrer was loved for its performances, music and fresh treatment, which resonated big time with the emerging multiplex audience.

Kunal’s next directorial, Fanaa (2006), starring Aamir Khan and Kajol, emerged as a major box-office success. He later directed Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic (2008) and Teri Meri Kahaani (2012), while also producing Break Ke Baad (2010). In 2018, he ventured into Telugu cinema with Next Enti, starring Tamannaah Bhatia. The same year, 2018, he turned actor with his production, Phir Se, co-starring Jennifer Winget and Sumona Chakravarti. It was one of the first Indian films to release directly on Netflix.

In the post-pandemic era, Kunal Kohli directed Lahore Confidential (2021) and Bobby Aur Rishi Ki Love Story (2025), both of which had a direct release on OTT.

Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda celebrate Saiyaara first anniversary at Wembley Stadium; unveil exclusive Collectors Edition Vinyl LP

A year after Saiyaara emerged as one of the biggest box office successes, Yash Raj Films marked the film's first anniversary with a special celebration at London's Wembley Stadium. Lead actors Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda visited the iconic venue to unveil an exclusive Collector's Edition Vinyl LP, commemorating the film's music and its enduring popularity among audiences.

The venue holds special significance in Saiyaara, as it serves as the backdrop for one of the film's most memorable moments, where Ahaan Panday's character Krish Kapoor recognises Vaani Batra through her eyes on the stadium's giant screen. The film's climactic reunion between Krish and Vaani also takes place at Wembley, making it a fitting location for the anniversary celebration.

The newly launched Collector's Edition is a two-disc vinyl set featuring the complete musical experience of Saiyaara. The first LP includes all nine songs from the film's soundtrack, while the second disc comprises 25 tracks, including 16 original background score compositions and nine memorable dialogues from the film.

A post shared by Yash Raj Films (@yrf)

Beyond the music, the Collector's Pack also includes a specially curated Saiyaara diary featuring notes from YRF CEO Akshaye Widhani, director Mohit Suri, actors Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, along with contributions from composers, lyricists and members of the film's music team. The package also contains an exclusive ink pen inspired by Vaani's notebook from the film and two character-themed bookmarks featuring Krish and Vaani.

Speaking about the launch, director Mohit Suri said, "Music is the soul of any love story - be it in life or in films. With Saiyaara, I felt that even more. The depth in Krish and Vaani’s relationship, the everlasting feeling, the innocence, and the magic wouldn’t be the same without the songs. I am truly grateful and overwhelmed for the love people have shown the film because of its music. Vaani said (in the film), ‘The mind forgets but the heart doesn’t, and great music stays in the heart…. forever!’ And it’s amazing that the music has stayed with you long after the film. The feeling is surreal, because the core of Saiyaara was always the fact that a song has the power to take you back to a moment, bring back a memory… bring back love! That's why this LP isn't just a collection of tracks. It’s a chance for people to experience the film all over again—one emotion, one melody, and one memory at a time. We thought very carefully about every single aspect of this record to bring your Saiyaara experience back to life! I really hope you love it."

Further, YRF CEO Akshaye Widhani added, "Saiyaara was a deeply personal film for us because it marked our return to romance, a genre that has always defined YRF and inspired some of our most sweeping love stories. We wanted to deliver not just a film but also a music album that is timeless in this genre and I have to thank Mohit Suri for delivering this in spades. As we celebrate Saiyaara's first anniversary, we are delighted to mark the occasion with the launch of an exclusive Collector's Edition Vinyl LP, giving fans and music lovers the ultimate Saiyaara listening experience through its music, it’s sounds and its dialogues. We wanted to create something that they could own, revisit and treasure for years to come, a definitive keepsake that preserves the complete emotional journey of Saiyaara.”

Supreme Court allows Mahaprabhu Jagannath release after Rath Yatra, issues notices on Odisha HC ban

The Supreme Court has refused to allow the immediate release of the animated film Mahaprabhu Jagannath during the ongoing Lord Jagannath Rath Yatra. However, the court permitted the filmmakers to release the movie on or after July 28, once the annual festival concludes.

The apex court also issued notices to the Centre, the Odisha government, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration and other respondents while hearing an appeal challenging the Orissa High Court's interim order that stayed the film's release. High Court had stayed the film's release The Orissa High Court had earlier stayed the nationwide release of Mahaprabhu Jagannath, observing that the film did not strictly adhere to the religious text of the Skanda Purana. The interim order came just a day before the film's scheduled theatrical release.

Challenging the decision, the makers moved the Supreme Court seeking urgent relief. Makers cite financial losses, CBFC certification Appearing for the filmmakers, Senior Advocate Devadatt Kamat urged the Supreme Court to hear the matter on an urgent basis. He submitted that Mahaprabhu Jagannath is an animated film primarily aimed at children and is based on the life and legacy of Lord Jagannath.

Kamat argued that the High Court stayed the release solely on the ground that the film was not made in strict accordance with the Skanda Purana. He also informed the court that the CBFC had already granted the film a U certificate under Section 5 of the Cinematograph Act, clearing it for release in Hindi, Odia and Telugu.

The senior advocate further pointed out that the High Court's order was uploaded only at 9 pm on the eve of the scheduled release, leaving the producers with very little time to seek legal remedies.

According to the submissions, the makers have invested crores of rupees in the project and had planned screenings in more than 300 theatres across the country. Kamat also argued that the Public Interest Litigation leading to the stay was heard shortly before the release date, describing the High Court's order as a hurried decision. Supreme Court issues notices While declining to permit the film's release during the Rath Yatra, the Supreme Court issued notices to the Centre, the Odisha government, the CBFC, the temple administration and other concerned parties on the appeal against the High Court's interim order.

With the latest direction, Mahaprabhu Jagannath can now be released in theatres on or after July 28, subject to any further orders in the case.

In an exciting development for Bollywood, two major upcoming films will share the same international cinematographer. Bollywood Hungama has exclusively learnt that Juan Carlos Gil, the acclaimed DOP of Netflix’s global series Narcos and who has shot Vikrant Massey’s big-scale political drama White, has come on board for Ranveer Singh’s upcoming mega-budget film Pralay.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “The team of Pralay is mounting the film on a lavish scale and wants it to have a Hollywood-style visual treatment. Juan Carlos Gil fits the bill perfectly. He is equally excited to come on board, while the team is thrilled to have him shoot this ambitious zombie film.”

Paresh Rawal claims OMG 2 was based on his original idea; says he walked away after script changes: “There was no need for a divine character”

Paresh Rawal has claimed that the original idea behind OMG 2 came from him, adding that the film underwent significant changes after Akshay Kumar came on board. Speaking to Vickey Lalwani, the veteran actor also alleged that he did not receive credit for the story or concept despite being closely involved in its early development.

Paresh Rawal recalls developing the original concept Rawal said he first approached filmmaker Amit Rai with the idea after watching Road to Sangam. He asserted, "I had approached Amit Rai, the director of Road to Sangam, and asked him if he was planning another film. I admire him a lot. I told him, 'I have an idea. Let's sit and write it.' I told him I wasn't a writer, but I could contribute ideas and help identify where we were going wrong because I understand screenplay to some extent."

He went on to reveal, "The story was about a boy who gets caught masturbating, and a video of the incident goes viral, making his life miserable. His father was a tourist guide at the Khajuraho temple. Amit suggested making him a part-time priest at the Mahakal Temple. We developed the script together and even brought sexologist Dr Prakash Kothari on board. We had several meetings because our intention was to make the film educational, entertaining and not vulgar. We were deeply involved in the process." 'There was no need for a divine character' According to Rawal, the project was never conceived as a sequel to OMG and did not feature a godly figure. He said, "Our main idea was to have a biker guiding the father, not God. In the first OMG, God appeared because the case was against God. But this film was about a father's fight to get justice for his son. There was no need for a divine character. We wanted someone like Kader Khan's character in Muqaddar Ka Sikandar."

He further revealed that he had initially considered Ajay Devgn and Salman Khan for the biker's role: "I didn't approach Akshay because people would have assumed it was OMG 2, whereas that wasn't the plan." How Akshay Kumar came on board Rawal said he later learnt that Akshay Kumar wanted to do the film after the script reached him through producer Ashwin Varde. He continued, "I was under the impression that we were still figuring things out. We even had a meeting with Vipul Shah of Optimystix. They also asked about Akshay, and I said if I wanted to make it with him, I would have approached him directly. Akshay and I were partners in OMG. I didn't need anyone to bridge the gap. A few days later, Amit Rai called and told me Akshay wanted to do the film. The issue was that Amit had tentatively written 'OMG 2' on the script because the genre was similar."

He added, "In one of our meetings, Ashwin Varde was present. That's when they decided they wanted to do it with Akshay." Why Paresh Rawal declined the film Rawal said Akshay later requested him to be a part of the project, but he declined because he no longer recognised the story: "I spoke to Akshay. He asked me to do the film. I told him, 'No. This isn't the film I had envisioned. There is no role of God in this story.' He tried to convince me, but I had lived with the script from the beginning. I knew exactly what it was supposed to be. That's why I walked away."

The actor also claimed he did not receive any acknowledgement for his contribution to the original concept: "The saddest part is that I wasn't even given credit for the story or the concept. My name wasn't mentioned anywhere."

He further said, "Amit, Akshay, Ashwin, Ajay Devgn, Karan Johar and Salman Khan... all know it was my idea and my story. Ajay and Salman probably said no because of the subject. They thought it could become controversial. I tried explaining the concept to them."

Neither Akshay Kumar, director Amit Rai nor the producers of OMG 2 have publicly responded to Paresh Rawal's claims at the time of writing.

Amid Satluj row, Centre may make CBFC certification mandatory for direct OTT releases: Report

The controversy surrounding Diljit Dosanjh's Satluj could lead to significant changes in the way films are released on streaming platforms in India. According to a report by India Today, the Centre is considering making certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) mandatory for films that premiere directly on OTT platforms.

The report states that the proposal comes after Satluj was streamed on Zee5 earlier this month without a CBFC certificate. As of now, no official announcement has been made by the government regarding the proposed policy change. Action against Zee5 also reportedly under consideration Citing government sources, the report claims that screening Satluj without CBFC certification was legally impermissible. The sources further said that it is the responsibility of the respective state governments to initiate criminal proceedings if the film is publicly screened without the required certification.

According to the report, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), or the Centre, also has the authority to direct streaming platforms to remove uncertified films. It adds that this power was exercised in the case of Satluj.

The report further states that the government is examining whether action should also be initiated against Zee5 for allegedly streaming an uncertified version of the film. However, no official decision on the matter has been announced so far. Government reportedly examining changes to OTT regulations The publication also reports that the Centre is exploring whether all films released directly on OTT platforms should be required to obtain CBFC certification before streaming, similar to films released in cinemas.

If implemented, the proposal would require filmmakers to secure a CBFC certificate before premiering their films on digital platforms. According to the report, the government is considering amendments to the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules to introduce such a requirement.

The development comes a day after the Centre reportedly asked state governments to initiate legal action if Satluj is screened publicly without the necessary certification. What is the Satluj controversy? For those unfamiliar with the issue, Satluj is based on the life of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra. The film was originally titled Punjab '95 and had been submitted to the CBFC for certification several years ago. However, it was never cleared for release in that form.

Nearly two years later, the film was released on Zee5 on July 3 under the title Satluj, reportedly without cuts or CBFC certification. It was removed from the platform just two days later.

Is Bhool Bhulaiyaa 4 happening? Here’s what we know!

The Bhool Bhulaiyaa franchise could soon be expanding with a fourth instalment. According to a report by Mid-Day, producer Bhushan Kumar has begun work on Bhool Bhulaiyaa 4, with Kartik Aaryan expected to reprise his role as Rooh Baba after the commercial success of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 (2024).

The report states that the screenplay is currently under development, with the makers focusing on finalising a strong script before locking the film's director. It further claims that if everything proceeds as planned, the horror-comedy could go on floors in the second half of 2027.

However, it is important to note that the production house has not made any official announcement regarding the project, and the report has not been independently confirmed by the makers or any other publication. Anees Bazmee to return as director The report also suggests that filmmaker Anees Bazmee, who directed Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, is expected to return to helm the fourth film. Priyadarshan directed the original Bhool Bhulaiyaa, while Bazmee successfully revived the franchise with its recent instalments.

According to the publication, an official announcement is likely only after the screenplay is completed and the director is formally locked.

For now, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 4 remains the subject of industry speculation. Until the makers issue an official statement, details regarding the film's cast, director and production timeline should be treated as unconfirmed.

While fans await clarity on the future of the Bhool Bhulaiyaa franchise, Kartik Aaryan already has several films lined up. Zareen Khan shuts down paparazzo over inappropriate remark at event: "Hadd mein rehna"

Actor Zareen Khan firmly called out a paparazzo for making an inappropriate remark during a recent public appearance, making it clear that such comments would not be tolerated. The incident unfolded while the actress was attending a launch event, where she was seen presenting the brand's latest apparel collection.

During the event, Zareen posed for photographers while showcasing a denim jacket and a dress from the newly unveiled collection. However, the atmosphere took an uncomfortable turn when one of the photographers asked her to "try it on" in front of everyone present.

Caught off guard by the remark, the actress chose not to ignore it and immediately addressed the comment. Responding firmly, Zareen said, "Tum logon ke saamne? Woh nahi ho raha (In front of all of you? That is not happening)."

She further reprimanded the individual for crossing the line and made her stance crystal clear. Zareen added, "Faltugiri ki baatein mat karo mere saath (Don't make such nonsense comments with me), because I am not the one who is going to take that s**t, okay? Hadd mein rehna, sab ke sab (All of you should stay within your limits)."

#ZareenKhan slammed the paparazzi after one of them allegedly asked her to "try the dress" in front of everyone at a Mumbai event. She immediately shut it down, saying, "Hadd mein rehna," and made it clear she won't tolerate such comments.

The actress' response has once again highlighted her zero-tolerance approach towards disrespectful behaviour. This is not the first time Zareen has spoken out against inappropriate conduct. In the past, she has publicly addressed online trolls who flooded her social media posts with offensive comments and objectionable emojis. Calling out such behaviour, the actress questioned why women continue to be subjected to degrading remarks on digital platforms. Her fans had rallied behind her at the time, applauding her for confronting online harassment instead of remaining silent.

On the professional front, Zareen Khan made her Bollywood debut opposite Salman Khan in Veer, which introduced her to audiences across the country. She later appeared in films including Housefull 2, Hate Story 3, Aksar 2, and 1921, among others. Apart from her film projects, the actress has also featured in several popular music videos, continuing to maintain a strong presence in the entertainment industry.

Her latest public response serves as yet another reminder that celebrities are increasingly choosing to speak up against inappropriate behaviour, whether it occurs online or in person.

Dhamaal 4 goes the Dhurandhar way: skips Tuesday offer; ticket sales surge despite no discounts

Dhamaal 4 is literally creating a dhamaal at the box office. After an opening of Rs. 13.72 crores, the film jumped to Rs. 22.48 crores on Saturday followed by Rs. 28.15 crores on Sunday. On Monday, the film collected Rs. 8.18 crores, which made it clear that the film is set for a long run. Looking at the huge response, Dhamaal 4 makers have decided to not opt for the Tuesday offer.

By doing so, the film has joined the elite list of films like Dhurandhar (2025) and Dhurandhar The Revenge (2026). A trade source told Bollywood Hungama, “Usually, when films are doing exceptionally well, it is an indication that there’s a tremendous urgency to watch it. In such cases, producers and distributors avoid selling tickets for discounted rates on Tuesdays.”

The source added, “In the past, the Aamir Khan-starrer Sitaare Zameen Par (2025) and Raid 2 (2025), starring Ajay Devgn, also didn’t offer discounted ticket prices on Tuesday during their first week.”

If one feels that Dhamaal 4’s footfalls on Tuesday will be lower than on Monday, they would be mistaken. As of 11:30 am on Monday, the film had sold 34,888 tickets. At the same time on Tuesday, ticket sales had already reached 38,307. Hence, it won’t be surprising if Tuesday’s collections surpass Monday’s despite the absence of a discount offer.

Alia Bhatt joins Sohum Shah's Tumbbad 2 cast; reunites with Pen Studios after Gangubai Kathiawadi and RRR

Alia Bhatt has officially joined the cast of Tumbbad 2, the upcoming sequel to the 2018 cult fantasy horror film Tumbbad. The actor will star alongside Sohum Shah and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the film, which is scheduled to release in cinemas on December 3, 2027. The sequel will be directed by Adesh Prasad and is being produced by Sohum Shah Films in collaboration with Pen Studios.

Sharing her excitement about joining the project, Alia said the original film had left a lasting impression on her. She said, "Tumbbad has stayed with me ever since I first watched it. Very few films create a world that feels this original and immersive, and even fewer continue to grow in people's imagination years after they've released. That's what makes this opportunity so exciting."

She further added, "To now become a part of that world is incredibly special. I'm looking forward to working with Sohum and Nawaz, two artists I've admired for a long time, and to exploring a character that belongs to a story as rich, mysterious and unforgettable as Tumbbad. I can't wait for audiences to experience what we're creating together."

Actor-producer Sohum Shah, who returns to expand the Tumbbad universe, welcomed Alia to the project. He asserted, "Having Alia Bhatt come on board for Tumbbad 2 is truly delightful for all of us. She is undoubtedly one of the most talented actresses of this generation, and I am sure the audience will get to witness something unique with her in the film."

Producer Dr. Jayantilal Gada also expressed his enthusiasm about Alia joining the film: "Alia Bhatt is undoubtedly one of the finest actresses in our industry, and her joining Tumbbad 2 is truly incredible. This also marks our third collaboration with Alia after the phenomenal success of Gangubai Kathiawadi and RRR, making it even more special for us."

He further said, "She is the perfect choice for this film, and the audience will see her in a way like never before. She is a remarkably accomplished actor who immediately understood our ambition behind the project."

Released in 2018, Tumbbad gained critical acclaim for its blend of folklore, fantasy and horror. The film found renewed popularity after its theatrical re-release, becoming one of the most successful re-releases in India. With Alia Bhatt and Nawazuddin Siddiqui joining Sohum Shah in the sequel, the makers are set to continue the story with a new chapter when Tumbbad 2 arrives in theatres on December 3, 2027.

Govinda announces comeback with self-produced film Roopa; says, “People kept saying, ‘Now he won’t appear in films anymore’”

Veteran Bollywood star Govinda is all set to return to the big screen with a brand-new project. The actor recently hosted a press conference to officially announce his comeback film, Roopa, marking his return to cinema after a prolonged gap. At the event, Govinda unveiled the first poster of the film, introduced newcomer Rani Swarankar as the leading lady, and revealed that he is also producing the project.

Once among the biggest superstars of the 1990s, Govinda has largely stayed away from films in recent years after a string of releases failed to leave an impact at the box office. However, the actor appeared confident and optimistic as he spoke about embarking on a fresh journey with Roopa. Opening up about the challenges he has faced over the years and his determination to keep moving forward, Govinda said, “Maybe it was destiny that I was written off so many times. People kept saying, ‘Now he won’t appear in films anymore.’ But I always started again. I pray to God that this film achieves what I have envisioned—something people may not even imagine—and works its magic.”

The actor also shared that Roopa has been made with young audiences in mind. He expressed hope that the film would encourage viewers to believe in their aspirations and chase their dreams. “This film is especially for youngsters. When they watch it in theatres, I hope it inspires them to dream and believe that those dreams can come true. Beyond that, I won’t speak about spirituality,” he added.

During the interaction, Govinda also spoke at length about his belief in numerology and the significance of the number 14 in his life. Recalling several milestones from his personal and professional journey, the actor explained how the number has remained a constant source of faith throughout the years.

He went on to say, “Number 14 has always been my lucky number. I believe in numerology, and even my name is based on it. I started believing in it when I was just 14 years old. By God’s grace, I signed 14 films in a single week, and that led to 14 years of superstardom. Later, I became a Member of Parliament in the 14th Lok Sabha. After that, I went through a 14-year struggle before returning to films. This time, however, I didn’t want to wait another five years. I told myself that I would start again. Now, I hope this marks the beginning of a new journey.”

With Roopa, Govinda is looking to turn the page on a challenging phase of his career and reconnect with audiences. Backed by the actor himself as producer and introducing fresh talent in Rani Swarankar, the film marks the beginning of what Govinda hopes will be a successful new innings in Bollywood.

Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane present Ravi Muppa's Incognito; launch Oh Flip Shorts on July 15

Filmmakers Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane have teamed up to present writer-director Ravi Muppa's acclaimed short film, Incognito. Starring Vikram Singh, Ayushi Nema, and Dev Chauhan, the psychological thriller—set to release on July 15—will officially launch a brand-new, shorts-exclusive YouTube channel, Oh Flip Shorts, backed by producer Ranjan Singh and curated by Kashyap. The platform aims to serve as a premium home for groundbreaking short-form cinema, dropping one curated title every month to foster a dedicated community for indie creators.

Incognito arrives on the platform on the heels of a decorated global festival run, playing at over 20 international festivals including the prestigious, Oscar-qualifying Palm Springs International ShortFest.

“I’ve always loved short films as they are the first stepping stone for a director to test their storytelling style and give them actual practice in shooting a story,” said Kashyap. “Continuing the same, this is our effort to showcase some excellent short films, curated by me and presented by filmmakers whose work I look up to. We’re glad to begin with Incognito by Ravi Muppa, and very hopeful that it’ll be liked by the audience,” he added.

Vikramaditya Motwane says, “Incognito is gripping and beautifully atmospheric, a true blue genre short with an out of the box ending. Congratulations to Ravi and his team and I’m so happy that we can present this to the audience”.

Incognito follows the story of a cash-strapped motel receptionist who profits off hidden-cam videos—until he records a girl in danger of being trafficked and must decide whether to save her or protect himself.

Writer-director Ravi Muppa, whose works include titles like Stree (2018), Bala (2019) and The Family Man (2019), noted that the digital release marks a major milestone for the project.

“The film has been an incredibly special journey, and I’m deeply grateful to the producers, collaborators, and champions who believed in it and helped carry it forward. I’m especially excited that this is just the beginning, as we now look ahead to expanding Incognito into a feature.”

Executive Producer Ranjan Singh, who backed the short under the Flip Films banner, expressed immense gratitude for the directorial support anchoring the channel's launch. He said,  “We are thankful to Anurag for the curation, and Vikram and other directors to lend their support to the same. Every month we’ll be premiering one new short on the channel and hope that we’ll be able to make a community very soon.”

As previously announced, a feature-length adaptation of Incognito is currently in active development. The upcoming feature will be co-produced by Hollywood's Invention Studios alongside Flip Films and Campfire Studios, with Anurag Kashyap, Nicholas Weinstock, Divya Souza, and Ranjan Singh locked to serve as producers.

Arshad Warsi earns nearly Rs. 4 crores profit as he sells Mumbai commercial property for Rs. 6.25 crores: Report

Bollywood actor Arshad Warsi has made a significant gain from a real estate transaction after selling a commercial property in Mumbai's sought-after Lokhandwala Complex. According to property registration documents accessed by real estate data analytics firm Liases Foras, the actor has sold the commercial unit for Rs. 6.25 crores, generating an estimated profit of nearly Rs. 4 crores over his original purchase price.

As per these documents, the property is situated in Andheri West's Lokhandwala area and comprises a carpet area of 63.87 square metres (684 square feet). The unit was acquired by Umang Rajkumar Budhraja for Rs. 6.25 crores. The transaction was officially registered with the Maharashtra Inspector General of Registration on July 1, 2026.

The registration records further indicate that the buyer paid a stamp duty of Rs. 37.50 lakhs to complete the purchase. Based on the transaction value and the property's carpet area, the deal translates to an approximate price of Rs. 91,400 per square foot, underlining the premium commanded by commercial real estate in one of Mumbai's most prominent business and residential hubs.

Documents accessed by the firm also show that Arshad Warsi had originally purchased the same commercial shop in February 2012 for a little over Rs. 2.12 crores. At the time of acquisition, the actor paid stamp duty exceeding Rs. 10 lakhs along with a registration fee of Rs. 30,000. With the latest sale, the property has appreciated substantially in value over the past 14 years, resulting in a sizeable return on investment for the actor.

Mumbai's commercial real estate market has continued to witness several high-value transactions involving celebrities in recent months, with prime locations such as Andheri West remaining attractive for investors and business owners alike.

On the professional front, Arshad Warsi has an interesting slate of releases lined up. The actor was recently seen in the comedy entertainers Welcome To The Jungle and Dhamaal 4, where he further showcased why his association with the comedy genre has garnered him fruitful results over the years.

Abhijeet Singh Parmar and Mehboob Pal Singh Brar from Feel Good Films said, "What drew us to creating and producing Operation Safed Sagar was the opportunity to explore a world that very few people get to see from the inside, a world that opened up to us through our Co-Creator Kushal Srivastava's experience in the Indian Air Force. As we explored the lives of Air Force pilots, their families and the people around them, we realised that beyond the conflict and the mission, this was ultimately a story about friendship, sacrifice, leadership and impossible choices. Whether it was recreating this world across more than 100 locations, including filming at over 16,000 feet, or bringing together a large ensemble cast and extensive visual effects, our endeavour was always to balance scale with intimate human drama."

Sanjay Routray of Matchbox Shots LLP said, “Some chapters in our nation's history demand more than remembrance- they deserve to be brought to life with honesty and scale. Operation Safed Sagar is one such story that reminds us that the greatest acts of heroism are often driven by duty, sacrifice, and humanity. When Kushal Shrivastva brought us this extensively researched script, we knew it deserved to be told on the scale it demands. The story finely balances large-scale military action with deeply personal moments of heroism. We're thrilled to partner with Netflix to bring this powerful story to audiences around the world."

Produced by Matchbox Shots and Feel Good Films, Operation Safed Sagar serves as a tribute to the men and women of the Indian Air Force whose service, commitment and sense of duty continue to inspire generations. The series will begin streaming exclusively on Netflix from August 7.

Aamir Khan’s Lalkaara to be produced by Excel Entertainment and Rajkumar Hirani Films; Dangal and Nil Battey Sannata writers pen the script

Aamir Khan recently celebrated the 25th anniversary of his cult film, Lagaan (2001) and is all set to join hands with Lagaan director Ashutosh Gowariker once again. A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Lalkaara is not a biopic but based on the iconic 1952 test series between India and Pakistan. The script, written by Piyush Gupta and Neeraj Singh, is said to be an intense sports drama which explores the theme of rivalry, friendship, partition and nationalism.”

The source also said, “Lalkaara will be produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s Excel Entertainment. Interestingly, Rajkumar Hirani has also come on board but only as a producer. Aamir shares a strong association with both Farhan Akhtar and Rajkumar Hirani. His very next film after Lagaan was Dil Chahta Hai (2001), directed by Farhan Akhtar, which went on to attain cult status. With Rajkumar Hirani, Aamir delivered two historic blockbusters – 3 Idiots (2009) and PK (2014).”

A few days ago, Bollywood Hungama revealed that in 2019, the film was supposed to be produced by Fox Star Studios, while Rajkumar Hirani was offered the chance to direct it. As per sources, Shah Rukh Khan was also briefly considered for the lead role.

Meanwhile, Aamir is also committed to Rajkumar Hirani’s next directorial, a sequel to 3 Idiots. However, the scripting of the film is currently underway. According to reports, Aamir decided to begin work on Lalkaara first as Piyush Gupta and Neeraj Singh’s bound script has been ready for a while.

The project will chronicle the dramatic mission that led to the safe rescue of 41 trapped workers and highlight the contribution of internationally renowned tunnelling expert Professor Arnold Dix.

The announcement was made on July 9 in Melbourne and Mumbai, coinciding with a significant moment in India-Australia relations as both nations continue to strengthen bilateral ties. The makers have described Silkyara 41 as a landmark Indo-Australian collaboration that brings together creative talent, storytelling traditions and production expertise from both countries.

The film will be directed by Kabir Khan, known for films such as Bajrangi Bhaijaan and '83, while the screenplay has been penned by acclaimed Australian writer Andrew Anastasios, whose credits include The Water Diviner. The project is being jointly produced by Aamir Khan Productions, Kabir Khan Films and Mind Blowing Films.

Speaking about the collaboration, Aamir Khan said, "It gives us great pleasure to announce this landmark collaboration between Mind Blowing Films and Aamir Khan Productions. The story of the Silkyara Tunnel rescue moved me deeply. It is a story of courage, resilience, ingenuity and humanity in the face of impossible odds. We are especially proud to announce it on this historic day, as India and Australia open a new chapter in their bilateral relationship. It feels fitting that today we announce this wonderful film to be created by our two countries and is based on a story that celebrates international cooperation and the triumph of the human spirit."

Director Kabir Khan added, "The story of the Silkyara Tunnel rescue is one of the most extraordinary human dramas to emerge in recent times. At its heart, it is a story of courage, resilience and the collective determination to overcome seemingly insurmountable challenges. What drew me most to the project was its deeply human dimension - the lives that hung in the balance, the families waiting anxiously, and the remarkable individuals who came together to make the rescue possible. I am honoured to bring this inspiring true story to the screen."

The Hon Tony Burke MP, Minister for Home Affairs and Minister for the Arts, added, "There is no greater story of Australian and Indian collaboration than Silkyara 41, and I'm so glad that it's going to be told on the big screen."

According to the makers, Silkyara 41 will recreate the rescue operation that drew global attention and showcased the power of teamwork, innovation and resilience. The film is being developed as an international co-production, with creative and production talent from both India and Australia.

Further details regarding the cast, additional production partners and the film's release timeline are expected to be announced at a later date.

Satluj row deepens: PIL filed in Punjab and Haryana High Court over Zee5 removal of Diljit Dosanjh film

The controversy surrounding Diljit Dosanjh's Satluj continues to intensify. A public interest litigation (PIL) has now been filed before the Punjab and Haryana High Court, challenging the sudden removal of the film from streaming platform Zee5 and seeking its restoration across the country.

The PIL has been filed by Sharwan Singh, with the Union Government, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), the Punjab Government, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited, and ZEE5 named as respondents. The petition questions why the film, which is based on the life and work of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Kalra, was removed from the platform without any judicial, legal, or government directive.

Filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, the petition argues that the removal of Satluj infringes upon the fundamental right to freedom of speech and expression. It further contends that the explanation citing only "current circumstances" is vague and fails to specify any concrete reason for taking down the film.

The PIL also raises concerns over the rights of paid subscribers, stating that viewers who have purchased access to content on the streaming platform deserve a transparent explanation for the film's abrupt removal. According to the petition, the lack of clarity has left audiences without any official justification despite having paid for the service.

Seeking the restoration of Satluj, the petition asserts that the film is based entirely on material already available in the public domain and does not disclose any confidential or classified information. It further notes that the events depicted in the film have previously been examined by the Supreme Court, various other courts, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), and other official proceedings, making the content a matter of public record.

The matter is expected to come up for hearing before the Punjab and Haryana High Court in the coming days.

For the unversed, Satluj, which was earlier titled Punjab '95, finally premiered on ZEE5 on July 3 after a prolonged battle involving the CBFC and several organisations. However, the film was unexpectedly removed from the streaming platform just two days later, on July 5, sparking widespread debate and criticism over its abrupt takedown.

Hrithik Roshan to sell part of his Cult.fit stake - 6.33 lakhs shares through IPO

Hrithik Roshan is preparing to unlock a portion of his investment in fitness and wellness platform Cult.fit as the company moves ahead with its proposed initial public offering (IPO). While the actor will participate in the offer-for-sale (OFS), he is not exiting the business and will continue to hold equity in the company after the public issue.

As per the Draft Red Herring Prospectus (DRHP) submitted by Cult.fit to the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi), Hrithik plans to sell 6,33,824 equity shares as part of the OFS portion of the IPO. The actor has been associated with the company for several years, wearing multiple hats as both an investor and one of its prominent brand ambassadors.

The filing further indicates that before the IPO, Hrithik owns approximately 19.01 lakh equity shares in the company, translating to nearly 0.20 percent of the pre-offer equity share capital. Following the proposed sale, he will continue to own the remaining shares, with the final holding depending on the eventual structure of the public issue.

At present, the financial value of Hrithik's stake sale cannot be determined as the company has not yet disclosed the IPO's price band. The valuation of the shares being offered will become clear once the pricing details are officially announced.

Cult.fit's proposed IPO consists of two components. The company intends to raise fresh capital through the issuance of equity shares worth up to Rs 950 crore. In addition, existing investors will collectively sell up to 17.86 crore equity shares through the offer-for-sale route. Hrithik Roshan is among the shareholders participating in this segment alongside several early investors.

Hrithik's decision to offload only a part of his holding suggests that he continues to have confidence in the company's long-term growth prospects. Rather than signalling a complete exit, the transaction represents a partial monetisation of his investment while maintaining his association with the fitness and lifestyle brand.

Over the years, the actor has played an important role in strengthening Cult.fit's public image through brand campaigns while also backing the company as an investor. His continued stake after the IPO reflects an ongoing relationship with the platform even as it prepares to enter the public markets.

Satluj co-writer Niren Bhatt questions film's removal; says, "If The Kashmir Files can exist, why not our film?"

When Satluj quietly appeared on ZEE5 late on Friday night, it felt to co-writer Niren Bhatt like the end of a three-year fight. By Sunday evening, that relief had vanished, with ZEE5 abruptly pulling the biographical drama from its platform in India.

A miraculous release, then silence

Originally titled Panjab 95, the film had spent three years mired in controversy, facing an unprecedented 127 cuts demanded by the CBFC. In an interview with Variety India, Bhatt recalled that the digital release came as a complete surprise. “Honestly, we only found out on Friday evening when we got a message saying it was live,” he said. “No one had a clue. We had completely given up hope that it would ever release. Honey (Trehan) was in talks with RSVP, but even he did not believe it would actually happen until it dropped. For the last four years, we have lived with these endless cycles of conversations, so when it finally went live, I genuinely believed it was safe.”

Comparisons to other controversial films

Bhatt pushed back against suggestions that Satluj could be exploited by “anti-India forces,” pointing to precedents in Hindi cinema. “That argument simply does not hold,” he said. “If The Kashmir Files can exist, if The Kerala Story can exist, why can they exist without being labeled tools for international forces? Why is our film the chosen one that will suddenly be misused by extreme elements? You cannot jump to far-fetched, paranoid conclusions just to suppress a straightforward biography. It makes absolutely no sense.”

He noted that the suppression had already backfired, with international curiosity fuelling a wave of piracy since the film remains accessible to audiences abroad. “Banning or restricting content is a false move because it only triggers immense curiosity,” Bhatt explained. “People loved the film. There are thousands of videos and tweets from viewers saying they broke down or were left speechless. When a movie evokes such a profound emotional reaction, word of mouth travels fast. If people cannot find it on an official platform, they will inevitably look elsewhere. It is deeply frustrating because this film belonged in theaters. They stopped our premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, they blocked the international theatrical release and now they are pausing it on OTT.”

Reflecting on the emotional cost of the fight, Bhatt admitted uncertainty over what it means for the future of courageous storytelling in the country. “The world needs stories like this,” he said, “but after watching what we went through, who will ever dare to attempt a movie like this again?”

Satluj remains unavailable for streaming in India, with no update on when it may return to ZEE5. Bhatt said the makers plan to challenge the decision in court, while the reasons behind the film's removal have not been officially disclosed.
