Here's why Aamir Khan moved the release of Lal Singh Chaddha to February 2022

The Aamir Khan helmed Forrest Gump remake Lal Singh Chaddha has been rescheduled. Instead of Christmas 2021 it will now be released on Valentine’s Day 2022. This is in deference to the cluster of films awaiting their turn to be released after theatres in Maharashtra re-open on October 22.

A source close to the Lal Singh Chaddha project informs, “Aamir Khan and his co-producers Viacom 18 have voluntarily taken their film to February 2022. The Christmas week of 2021 (which is the week when Aamir traditionally releases his films) already has Kabir Khan’s ’83 (December 24), the Shahid Kapoor sports film Jersey (December 31) and Rohit Shetty’s Ranveer Singh starrer Cirkus (December 31) lined up for release.

Aamir gracefully bowed out of his traditional slot.

Producer-director Luv Ranjan who is readying his Ranbir Kapoor - Shraddha Kapoor starrer for a late 2022 release says a protocol has to be followed in the release schedules.

“Now that the movie theatres in Maharashtra are finally re-opening there are producers who have been patiently waiting in line. They will have to be given the right of way. It is the decent, morally correct thing to do. One can’t jump the queue. Filmmakers like Rohit Shetty and Kabir Khan have waited for over a year for a theatrical release. They will come first. The others will have to wait.”

Kartik Aaryan starrer Dhamaka to premiere in November

The wait is finally over. Ram Madhvani’s terror-media thriller Dhamaka will be premiered in November 2021; a source close to the project informs me.

The date is yet to be decided. A source in the know says the long-awaited film will stream during Diwali. “The date is yet to be decided but somewhere around November 3-4,” says the source.

Kartik Aaryan’s made-for-Netflix thriller has been in the news for a year now. Its streaming date has been deliberately held back by Netflix, as Dhamaka is being seen as a super-premium product for Netflix’s Indian market.

“It’s going to be a game-changer,” says a source from Netflix.

Emraan Hashmi to star alongside Akshay Kumar in the Hindi remake of the Malayalam film Driving License

Earlier today, Bollywood Hungama had reported that Akshay Kumar is reuniting with Karan Johar's Dharma Productions for director Raj Mehta's next film. The trio had last worked together for the film Good Newwz. Now, according to the latest reports, Emraan Hashmi has also joined the cast of the film.

The film in question is the official Hindi remake of Prithviraj's Malayalam film Driving License (2019). In the original film, Prithviraj played a film superstar while Suraj Venjaramoodu essayed the role of a motor inspector who is a massive fan of the superstar. However, a misunderstanding leads to the two locking horns with each other and the two trying to make each other's life a living hell. Reportedly, Akshay Kumar will essay the role played by Prithviraj and Emraan Hashmi will step into the shoes of Suraj Venjaramoodu.

The film will be presented for the Hindi audience with some changes in the script. The film will go on floors in the month of January with a start to finish 40-day schedule in the UK.

iKON’s Bobby and his fiancée welcome their first child

South Korean pop-group iKON member Bobby and his fiancée have welcomed their first child to the world. As per reports, a source close to his agency YG Entertainment revealed on September 27, “Bobby informed us that he recently welcomed a baby boy.”

Last month, Bobby personally announced his marriage plan with fiancée and that he was engaged, through a handwritten letter. He also announced to-be wife's pregnancy and that would become a father in September. In a long thoughtful letter, he had penned, “Hello, this is iKON’s Bobby. There is something I really want to tell you today, so I am writing this after putting in much thought.”

It continued, “I have promised marriage with a person I love. I am also becoming a father in September. I am happy to welcome a new family member, but I feel more apologetic to the fans who must be taken aback by my news. I should’ve let you know earlier, but I apologize that I am letting you know later as I was worried more than anything for this reason.”

Vicky Kaushal and Sara Ali Khan to star in Laxman Utekar's next rom-com

Vicky Kaushal and Sara Ali Khan are all set to share screen space for the first time. Earlier there were reports that the two would be seen together in the film The Immortal Ashwatthama. However, the film has reportedly been put on hold indefinitely. Now, according to the latest reports, director Laxman Utekar has roped in the two stars for his next rom-com.

Laxman Utekar is popular for his films Luka Chuppi and Mimi. Both the films were backed by Dinesh Vijan's Maddock Films. The production house will also be backing Utekar's next with Vicky and Sara. This will be Sara's second film with Dinesh Vijan after Love Aaj Kal.

Reportedly, the film is in a slice of life space but with a fun, social twist to it. The script of the film was locked a few months ago. The film will go on the floors on November 15.

Meanwhile, Sara Ali Khan will next be seen in the film Atrangi Re which will be premiered on Netflix. The film directed by Aanand L Rai also stars Akshay Kumar and Dhanush. Vicky Kaushal, on the other hand, is looking forward to the release of Sardar Udham directed by Shoojit Sircar. The film will be released on October 16 on Amazon Prime Video.

Bend It like Beckham star Parminder Nagra to star as police officer in upcoming crime drama ‘DI Ray’

Actor Parminder Nagra is all set to star in a new crime drama series from ITV titled DI Ray. Best known for Gurinder Chadha’s film Bend It like Beckham and medical drama show ‘ER’, Nagra will play the lead character of Rachita Ray.

According to Deadline, the filming for Parminder Nagra's crime drama DI Ray will commence in the UK's Midlands later this year. The story revolves around Rachita Ray, a police officer who takes on a case that forces her to confront a lifelong personal conflict between her British identity and her South Asian heritage. DI Ray will track a murder investigation whilst exploring the emotive subject of racism in the workplace. It asks difficult questions about what it is like to be British but feel like the ‘other’, while taking viewers through the murky underworld of Birmingham

The four-part series, comes from the pair behind Line of Duty, Maya Sondhi and Jed Mercurio. Sondhi, stars on hit BBC police drama series Line of Duty and has written episodes of shows like Eastenders and Ackley Bridge while Mercurio’s credits include Line of Duty and Bodyguard who will executive produce the show via his HTM Television alongside Black Mirror’s Madonna Baptiste.

Nagra, whose TV credits also include The Blacklist and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., said she is looking forward to getting back to the UK after such a challenging time globally to be part of this exciting new project. Alex Pillai, who has directed episodes of Bridgerton and Riverdale, will direct the series and Charlotte Surtees of Code 404 will produce.

The shooting of the show is expected to begin in the UK’s Midlands later this year.

BIGBANG’s Taeyang and Min Hyo Rin are expecting their first child together

South Korean pop-group BIGBANG member Taeyang and actress Min Hyo Rin will soon become parents. According to Korean tabloids, on September 27, it was reported that Min Hyo Rin is currently pregnant and is expected to give birth soon.

According to Korean tabloid Soompi, Min Hyo Rin’s agency confirmed the news. Their statement read, “It is true that Min Hyo Rin is expecting. She is waiting joyfully.” The agency also added, “As she hopes to give birth quietly, we ask for your understanding in not being able to respond to further questions.”

BIGBANG member Taeyang and actress Min Hyo Rin first met in 2014 on the set of Taeyang’s ‘1AM’ music video. Taeyang and Min first confirmed their relationship in 2015, after years of rumors and reports by the South Korean media. The couple later got married in February 2018, in a private ceremony with family and friends, officiated by actor Ki Tae-young.

Since their marriage, both Taeyang and Min have continued to keep a low public profile. Min’s last acting role was in the 2019 biographical film Race to Freedom: Um Bok Dong. On the other, Taeyang’s last solo music release was in 2017, and BIGBANG’S most recent release as a group was their 2018 single ‘Flower Road’.

SCOOP: Akshay Kumar, Karan Johar and Raj Mehta to remake Prithviraj's Driving License

Akshay Kumar is among the busiest actors of Bollywood and he doesn't mind that at all. The Khiladi has often informed the media how he loves being on the set and how the discipline makes it easy for him to move from one film to the other. Earlier in the day, it was revealed that Akshay is reuniting with Karan Johar's Dharma Productions for director Raj Mehta's next film. We have an additional scoop.

"The film in question is the official remake of Prithviraj's Malayalam hit, Driving License. Both Akshay and Raj absolutely loved the original film and decided to remake it for the Bollywood audience with some changes in the screenplay," a source informed Bollywood Hungama. The film will go on floors in the month of January with a start to finish 40 day schedule in the UK. The makers are in the hunt for another actor to play second lead alongside Akshay.

Interestingly, Akshay has three remakes under his kitty now. His Sajid Nadiadwala production, Bachchan Pandey is based on the Tamil hit, Jigarthanda. His on-going Vashu Bhagnani production, Cinderella, is the remake of 2018 psychological thriller, Ratsasan whereas the Raj Mehta film might also retain the same title in Hindi. The other films in his lineup include Sooryavanshi, Prithviraj, Raksha Bandhan, Ram Setu, and Oh My God 2 among others.

Lee Dong Wook and Kim Bum starrer Tale of the Nine-Tailed renewed for second and third seasons

The 2020 hit fantasy drama, Tale of the Nine-Tailed is in talks to return with the new season. The show will not only have a second season but there are plans for third season as well. Though the lead actors Lee Dong Wook and Kim Bum are expected to return, lead Jo Ah won’t reprise her role.

According to a report in Korean tabloid Soompi, on September 27, the network tvN had decided to produce a second and third season of Tale of the Nine-Tailed. The report also stated that the female lead would be recast. The second season would be set in the Japanese colonial occupation (1910-1945) while the third season in the Joseon Dynasty.

A representative from tvN responded to the reports stating, “We are currently having positive discussions about a second season of Tale of the Nine-Tailed. Nothing about the cast lineup or the broadcast details have been finalized. We are planning for 16 episodes in the second season, and season one’s director, Kang Shin Hyo, will be in charge of the direction again.”

Tale of the Nine-Tailed starred Lee Dong Wook, Jo Bo Ah, and Kim Bum and was originally aired at the end of 2020. The modern fantasy story is about a male gumiho (a mythical nine-tailed fox) who settles in the city and a producing director who investigates the supernatural. The drama ended with a peak viewership rating of 5.8 percent.  Lee Dong Wook and Kim Bum played brothers in the series.

Aanand L Rai's Atrangi Re starring Akshay Kumar, Sara Ali Khan and Dhanush opts for Netflix release

Aanand L Rai’s upcoming directorial, Atrangi Re starring Akshay Kumar, Sara Ali Khan, and Dhanush, went on floors in Varanasi in March of last year. The team resumed the shoot of the film in Madurai in October 2020 and followed by a Delhi schedule. While production houses are on an announcement spree for theatrical releases, the makers of Atrangi Re have opted for digital release instead.

According to a tabloid, the makers have decided on a direct-to-digital release for the film - on Netflix. With back-to-back announcements of films since this past weekend after the Maharashtra government announced the re-opening of cinemas, major dates until next year has been booked for tentpole releases. Considering the slice-of-life drama isn't a big-ticket release, the makers have decided on the digital premiere of the movie. They are completing the formalities for the same.

This marks the second OTT release of Akshay Kumar after Laxmmi, second for Sara Ali Khan post Coolie No. 1, and the same for Dhanush post Jagame Thandhiram. Meanwhile, Akshay's next with Aanand L Rai, which is Raksha Bandhan, is set for theatrical release on August 11, 2022.

Directed by Aanand L Rai, Atrangi Re is presented by Bhushan Kumar's T-Series, Colour Yellow Productions, and Cape of Good Films. The film is written by Himanshu Sharma. Music maestro AR Rahman has composed the album for the film with songs penned by Irshad Kamil.

The cast of the upcoming drama Island has been finalized. Kim Nam Gil, Cha Eun Woo, Lee Da Hee, and Sung Joon will star in the lead roles in the drama. Island is a fantasy exorcism drama, based on a webtoon of the same name. Set in Jeju Island, the story depicts the sorrowful and bizarre journey of the characters who are fated to fight the evil that’s trying to destroy the world.

Kim Nam Gil will be playing Pan, a tragic character who confronts evil in preparation for the world’s end but can’t be together with humans. Born with the fate of having to protect the world, Pan struggles to discover the value of what he has to protect while throwing himself away whereas Lee Da Hee will be taking the role of a third-generation chaebol and teacher Won Mi Ho. Unaware of her fate, Won Mi Ho unwillingly begins a self-reflection period on Jeju Island.

ASTRO’s Cha Eun Woo will be transforming into the hip Catholic exorcist and priest named John, who has a noble calling of protecting lives and purifying evil. However, he’s also a figure who harbors a horrible and dark past.  Sung Joon will be taking on the role Goong Tan, who was raised to take care of evil with Pan. However, after a fateful event, Goong Tan begins to oppose Pan, adding an exhilarating twist and suspense to the story.

Singer R. Kelly convicted of racketeering, human trafficking, child pornography and kidnapping

On Monday, Singer R. Kelly was found guilty of leading a decades-long scheme to recruit women and underage girls for sex in New York. According to the New York Times, the jury declaring him guilty of all nine counts of the racketeering and sex-trafficking charges against him.

After beginning its nine hour of deliberations Friday afternoon, the jury convicted Kelly of racketeering and eight violations of an anti-sex trafficking law in federal court in Brooklyn. An attorney for Kelly told CNN they are considering filing an appeal and are disappointed in the verdict.

As the verdict was read the singer sat motionless as his facial expression was obscured by a mask, in the courtroom. The verdict comes 13 years after Kelly was acquitted of child pornography charges in Illinois. In the New York trial that began Aug. 18, Kelly faced federal counts of human trafficking, racketeering, child pornography, kidnapping and forced labor. The former music star denied all allegations against him, and pleaded not guilty.

During closing statements on Wednesday, federal prosecutor Elizabeth Geddes stated that R. Kelly used his fame to take advantage of underage girls and boys, as well as young women, characterizing the R&B singer as a predator. Over the course of the five-week trial, the prosecution brought nine women and two men to the stand to tell their accounts of Kelly’s sexual, physical and mental abuse, along with 34 witnesses, including former employees of Kelly.

In one of the most explosive moments during testimony, a witness alleged that they had seen Kelly sexually abusing late R&B star Aaliyah in 1993, when she was only 13 or 14, according to the AP. That same witness also testified that Kelly began to sexually abuse her when she was 15. The defense presented four character witnesses, including former employees, an audio engineer and an accountant, the latter of whom testified about the structure of Kelly’s company, RSK, as demonstrated by an illustration of an octopus and its tentacles.

This is the first of several cases against R. Kelly, as he faces charges in several states, including Illinois and Minnesota. Kelly’s sentencing hearing is scheduled for May 4, 2022

Britney Spears' attorney files motion for immediate suspension and removal of Jamie Spears from the role of her conservator

In light of allegations that Britney Spears was under surveillance with her conservators monitoring her phone and bugging her home, Britney’s attorney has called for immediate removal and suspension of her father, Jamie Spears, from her conservatorship.

On Monday, the pop-star’s attorney Mathew Rosengart asks for an investigation of the claims, stating that Spears’ father allegedly “engaged in horrifying and unconscionable invasions of his adult daughter’s privacy.”

Over the weekend broke the news that Spears was allegedly being closely monitored by a security firm that was hired by her father without her knowledge. The New York Times’ latest documentary, “Controlling Britney Spears,” which debuted on Friday highlighted these allegations through an on-camera interview with Alex Vlasov, former employee of Black Box Security. California, where Spears’ home was allegedly bugged, is a two-party consent state meaning it could be illegal for Spears’ phone to be tracked without her consent.

According to Variety, Rosengart says, Unauthorized recording or monitoring of Britney’s private communications — especially attorney-client communications, which are a sacrosanct part of the legal system — represent an unconscionable and disgraceful violation of her privacy rights and a striking example of the deprivation of her civil liberties. Placing a listening device in Britney’s bedroom would be particularly horrifying, and corroborates so much of her compelling, poignant testimony. Mr. Spears has crossed unfathomable lines.”

Rosengart also added that there is “overwhelming evidence” to remove Spears’ father. The filing says reasons for suspension range from “lack of financial acumen, to his bankruptcy, to his reported alcoholism, to the trauma he caused his daughter since her childhood, to the Domestic Violence Restraining Order recently issued against him.” “Ms. Spears will no longer be bullied or extorted, nor will she further tolerate her father’s abuse, with its apparent misogynistic underpinnings,” the filing says.

Earlier this month, Spears’ father suddenly petitioned to terminate the conservatorship, after he has been atop his daughter’s conservatorship since 2008, controlling all of the financial decisions for her estate. Though it’s unclear if the next hearing will address the termination of the conservatorship altogether or if it will solely focus on the role of Spears’ father.

The week’s hearing is scheduled for Sept. 29.

Taking to Instagram, Riddhima shared a cute group picture that had her with Ranbir, his ladylove Alia Bhatt, mother Neetu Kapoor and daughter Samara. SHOCKING: Co-producer of Prerna V Arora’s film Rosie: The Saffron Chapter nabbed by Lucknow Police for non-payment of dues

Bollywood Hungama had recently published two explosive articles on how all is not well with Rosie: The Saffron Chapter, starring Arbaaz Khan, and produced by Prerna V Arora. The film also marks the debut of Shweta Tiwari’s daughter, Palak Tiwari. In the first article, we informed readers how the vanity van operator refused to let Arbaaz enter the van since his dues were not cleared, and also that Vivek Oberoi was replaced by Arbaaz Khan. Our second article was a comprehensive one, listing how Prerna V Arora has gone back to her old ways and has defaulted on payments and thereby caused a financial mess.

Bollywood Hungama has now received another shocking news to share with regards to this film. A source told us, “The last leg of the shoot took place in Lucknow where the crew was stationed in two hotels for 45 days. The producers didn’t make the payment for the accommodation of the cast and crew. The management then began to ask for their dues. Realizing that things would go out of hand, producer Resabh D Saraf tried to run away without informing anyone and without making the payment. The police were called. Resabh D Saraf was then arrested from the Lucknow airport.”

Resabh D Saraf, however, wasn’t detained at the police station but was taken to Hilton Garden Inn, one of the hotels where the team of the film had stayed and where the payment was pending. The source said, “Reshabh did part payment after which he was allowed to leave. The final payment still needs to be done to both the hotels.”

We spoke to Aashish Bajpai, owner of the other hotel, Hotel Metro View, who confirmed last month that the aforementioned episode did take place.

The source informed Bollywood Hungama, “The payment problems continue; even a little bit of shooting is still left. The post-production is also not in order. Prerna V Arora has claimed that Rosie: The Saffron Chapter will release in October but we wonder how she’ll complete the film.”

There were even claims that Prerna Arora will commence the shoot of her next production, Iti: Can You Solve Your Own Murder, starring Vivek Oberoi, in London, from September 15. However, Bollywood Hungama has found out that the said film hasn’t gone on floors as yet.

SCOOP: Ajay Devgn to play the God of death – Yamraj - in Indra Kumar's Thank God

After Total Dhamaal, Ajay Devgn reunites with director Indra Kumar in the upcoming slice of life comedy Thank God. The movie stars Sidharth Malhotra and Rakul Preet Singh in lead roles and is currently on the floors in Mumbai. Bollywood Hungama has some details on Ajay's character trait in the film.

"Ajay will be seen playing the role of the God of death, Yamraj, in Thank God. His character has a fun banter with Sidharth Malhotra, who dies an unfortunate death at an early age. The comedy in the film stems from Ajay and Sid's interaction in the world of fantasy," a source informed Bollywood Hungama.

It's unlike any film that Indra Kumar has made till date and all the stakeholders are supremely excited. "The plot is VFX heavy and Devgn's company will create a distinct world of hell and heaven in the film. The visuals will be among the major highlights of Thank God, alongside the humor and social message," the source told us.

Thank God is essentially a love story of Sid and Rakul, and how it comes to a halt when Sid's character suddenly meets the God of death. The movie is releasing in the cinema halls in Summer 2022. By the end of this year, Ajay will wrap up shooting for MayDay, Thank God, Maidaan, Rudra and Drishyam 2.

Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone to commence Pathan's first international schedule in Mallorca for a song shoot on October 7

Aditya Chopra and Siddharth Anand gave a visual feast like never before to audiences in WAR and looks like the producer-director combo is going to create a new benchmark in visual extravaganza with their next offering, Pathan! We hear that the stage is set for the superstars of Pathan – Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone – to shoot one of the most electrifying songs set in one of the most expensive and exquisite travel destinations of Europe, Mallorca!

“The aim is to make Pathan a visual spectacle that no one has seen before and Sid Anand and YRF is leaving no stone unturned to achieve this ambitious goal! Pathan team heads to Spain where they will be shooting in a grand destination like Mallorca, Cadiz (a stunning port city), and Vejer De La Frontera (one of the most picturesque hilltop towns in Europe). The team will be in Spain from October 10th to the 31st,” informs a trade source.

“No other Bollywood film has ever shot in these places so audiences, who haven’t been to these expensive and exquisite places, will see them for the first time! Visually these settings will add grandeur and lavishness to the film,” adds a trade source.

SRK and Deepika will be presented in a never seen before manner in this big-scale song. “Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika will also shoot a massive song in Mallorca! It will present the two in their never seen before avatars and it will be the biggest song that people have ever seen in terms of scale and mounting,” says the source.

“When you have two of the biggest superstars of the country, you have to create a visual extravaganza like never before and the makers want to do justice to the pairing they have in Pathan. It will be a sensational shoot to say the least,” adds the trade source.

No celebrations this year, says Lata Mangeshkar

As the Nightingale Lata Mangeshkar turns 92 on September 28 she is no mood for birthday celebrations. “What is there to celebrate?” she asks. “It has been one more year of the pandemic. It is my second birthday after Coronavirus hit us. Given the circumstances the greatest gift is that I’ve my loved ones, my family close to me. There are people out there who haven’t seen their parents, their children for more than a year. Aise waqt mein kaun cake and candle ke baare mein sochta hai? (Who think about birthdays at a time like this).”

Lataji’s birthday wish this year: “I want the virus to leave our lives. Maybe it is no longer a killer. But the aftershocks of recession and depression are driving many into depression. The past one and a half year has changed our lives completely. Let’s not take our health and our loved ones for granted. Every moment with those who matter in our lives is precious.”

The supreme songstress thanks her stars that she has her family with her this birthday. “My brother, my sister and my sister-in-law are all with me. I think I am very fortunate. I want all my fans and well-wishers to keep loving me. It is their good wishes that have kept me going for so long.”

BTS announce four dates for offline concert to be held at LA’s SoFi Stadium in November and December

BTS is officially going on an international stadium tour to hold offline concerts first time since 2019 BTS WORLD TOUR ‘LOVE YOURSELF: SPEAK YOURSELF’ [THE FINAL]. The 21st-century pop icons have announced their additional show dates for 2021 in North America with four special nights at LA’s SoFi Stadium on November 27, November 28, December 1, and December 2.

The in-person concert will proceed under national and regional health regulations and circumstances. This concert will be the first time ever for BTS and ARMY to meet face to face since the 2019 BTS WORLD TOUR ‘LOVE YOURSELF: SPEAK YOURSELF’ [THE FINAL]. BTS had to cancel their Map Of the Soul stadium world tour amid the pandemic. With these upcoming concert dates, it marks their first offline concert overseas while they are yet to hold one in their home country in South Korea.

Meanwhile, the legendary band Coldplay and BTS have collaborated for the very first time with the song ‘My Universe’ that released on September 24.
