Salman Khan's security beefed up by Mumbai Police after receiving second death threat in 10 days: Report

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has once again become the target of threats, this time from an alleged member of the notorious Bishnoi gang. The latest threat, delivered via WhatsApp to the Mumbai traffic control room, demands a hefty sum of Rs. 5 crores or a visit to a Bishnoi temple in Rajasthan. This is the second such threat in ten days, prompting heightened security measures for the actor.

The Bishnoi community, known for its reverence for the blackbuck, has a long-standing animosity towards Salman Khan due to a poaching case from the late 1990s. This historical context, coupled with the ongoing rivalry between Khan and the Bishnoi gang, has made the actor a persistent target for threats and intimidation.

As per the Money Control report, the recent WhatsApp message, purportedly from a Bishnoi gang member, included specific demands and threats. The sender warned of dire consequences if Khan failed to comply with their demands. The Mumbai police, taking the threat seriously, initiated an immediate investigation. Cyber experts were roped in to trace the origin of the message, which initially appeared to be sent from Karnataka. However, the use of a VPN by the sender complicated the investigation, making it difficult to pinpoint the exact location.

A significant breakthrough came with the arrest of a 35-year-old man in Bengaluru. The suspect, a welder by profession, was detained based on information shared by the Mumbai police. While the man's direct connection to the Bishnoi gang remains unclear, the police are investigating whether he acted independently or had links to the criminal network.

Despite the suspect's apparent lack of a criminal background, the Mumbai police are treating the threat with utmost seriousness. A senior police official emphasized the need to take all threats against a prominent public figure like Salman Khan seriously, regardless of their perceived credibility. The case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, including extortion and criminal intimidation. “We cannot dismiss these messages outright, especially considering the actor’s previous experiences and the heightened public interest surrounding him,” the officer stated.

The recent threats have necessitated a significant increase in Salman Khan's security detail. Mumbai police have deployed additional security personnel to guard the actor's residence and monitor his movements. The police are also working closely with other law enforcement agencies to ensure comprehensive security coverage.

Khan's security team has been instructed to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the police immediately. The actor himself has been advised to exercise caution and avoid unnecessary public appearances. Salman Khan Threat Case: 32-year-old man from Rajasthan arrested in Karnataka and handed over to Maharashtra Police; claims to be a fan of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi

A 32-year-old man from Rajasthan, accused of threatening to kill Bollywood actor Salman Khan, was arrested in Karnataka and handed over to Maharashtra Police on Wednesday, officials said. The accused, Bhikha Ram, also known as Vikram, is a resident of Jalore, Rajasthan.

Haveri Superintendent of Police Anshu Kumar told PTI, “Based on information received from the Maharashtra ATS (Anti-Terrorism Squad), one person was apprehended in Haveri Town and handed over to them today.”

Police sources said the accused had been staying at different locations in Karnataka before settling in Haveri about a month and a half ago. “He had been working at construction sites and was living in a rented room in Gowdar Oni,” they added.

A police source said, “The accused was watching a regional news channel when he suddenly called the Mumbai Police control room and issued a death threat to Salman Khan. He is a daily wage worker and claims to be a fan of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. This is his version, but his detailed interrogation and further investigation will be conducted by the Mumbai Police. Our team only secured him and handed him over to the Mumbai Police.”

The threat message read, “If Salman Khan wants to stay alive, he should go to our temple and apologise or pay ₹5 crore. If he does not do so, we will kill him; our gang is still active.” The sender initially claimed to be the brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. A case was filed at the Worli police station against the accused.

“During the investigation, it came to light that the accused hailed from Karnataka, following which a team of Worli police was sent to apprehend him. Bishnoi was nabbed late on Tuesday and after his interrogation, he was placed under arrest by the Worli police,” an official said. The accused was produced before the local court for a transit remand and is being brought to Mumbai.

On the work front, Salman Khan is currently filming for Bigg Boss 18 and his upcoming film Sikandar amid ongoing death threats. He was last seen making a cameo as his iconic Dabangg character Chulbul Pandey in the post-credit scene of Rohit Shetty's Singham Again.

Producer Tutu Sharma’s Citara Entertainment to launch affordable multiplex chains targeting Tier-II & Tier-III cities: Report

Film producer Tutu Sharma is set to launch Citara, a new multiplex chain specifically designed to cater to the entertainment needs of audiences in tier-II and tier-III cities. Citara's focus on tier-II and tier-III cities reflects a strategic move to capitalize on the growing demand for entertainment options in these rapidly developing regions.

As per a report in Economic Times, Tutu Sharma, founder, Citara Entertainment, said, “There is a section of the audience who wants to watch films in theatres. This audience wants to watch films at a ticket price which is reasonably priced. We want to cater to this audience.”

A recent study by JLL India highlights a surge in retail space across these cities, with an estimated 25 million square feet of new developments planned in the next five years. This growth is attributed to rising disposable incomes and changing consumer aspirations in smaller towns. Notably, several prominent brands, including Daiso Japan and Charles Tyrwhitt, have already chosen tier-II and tier-III locations for their first Indian stores.

Citara's multiplexes will boast a screen capacity ranging from 90 to 110, offering a comfortable and immersive movie-watching experience. The true differentiator, however, lies in the ticket pricing strategy. Aiming to make moviegoing accessible to a wider audience, Citara promises ticket prices that are 30-40% lower than the average ticket price (ATP) typically seen in established multiplexes. This price range, estimated to be around Rs 150-175, makes catching a film on the big screen a more attractive proposition for families and budget-conscious movie enthusiasts.

Girish Johar, group content advisor, at Citara Entertainment, also told the publication, “There are huge opportunities in the tier-II and tier-III cities. Cinema is part of our DNA. We want to tap into the audience which prefers an affordable moviegoing experience.”

Citara's vision extends beyond just providing a platform for film screenings. The multiplexes will offer a holistic entertainment experience, encompassing a variety of additional attractions. Patrons can expect to find retail outlets featuring celebrity-inspired jewelry and fashion collections, catering to the growing desire for brand association and trendsetting styles. Additionally, on-site gyms and dedicated children's play areas will cater to families and provide a complete entertainment package.

By the end of November 2024, Citara plans to launch operations in six cities: Jaipur, Indore, Ujjain, Kota, Beed, and Nandgaon. The initial rollout will include approximately 15 screens, with an ambitious expansion plan aiming to reach a screen count of 150 by the end of FY26. Vicky Kaushal starrer Chhaava release pushed to avoid box office clash with Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2: The Rule: Report

A potential box office clash between two highly anticipated films, Chhaava and Pushpa 2: The Rule, has been averted. The makers of Chhaava, a historical drama starring Vicky Kaushal, have decided to postpone the film's release to avoid a confrontation with the sequel to the blockbuster Pushpa.

Chhaava, which chronicles the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's son, Sambhaji Maharaj, is an ambitious project that has been in the making for several years. The decision to delay the release was made to ensure that the film receives the attention it deserves and maximizes its box office potential.

According to the report in Mid-day, a source close to the production revealed, "Chhaava is an ambitious project for the stakeholders, production house, director Laxman Utekar, and its lead star, Vicky. It makes sense to release it when no other film is scheduled to air.”

Interestingly, Rashmika Mandanna, who plays a prominent role in Pushpa 2: The Rule, is also a part of the cast of Chhaava. While an official announcement regarding the new release date of Chhaava is yet to be made, the decision to avoid a clash with Pushpa 2: The Rule is a strategic move that could benefit both films. Helena Luke, Mithun Chakraborty's first wife and Mard actress, passes away in the USA

Actress Helena Luke, who was Mithun Chakraborty’s first wife, died on Sunday in the USA. Dancer and actress Kalpana Iyer announced her passing on social media. Helena was best known for her performance in Amitabh Bachchan's 1985 film Mard. She was married to Mithun for four months, but their marriage ended within four months.

Helena's final Facebook post was made at 9:20 am on Sunday, where she expressed, “Feeling weird. Mixed emotions and no clue why, discombobulated.”

In a past interview, Helena referred to her four-month marriage to Mithun as a "hazy dream." She told Stardust Magazine, “I only wish it hadn’t happened; he was the one who brainwashed me into believing he was the man for me, and unfortunately, he succeeded.” Despite rumors of a possible reconciliation with Mithun, Helena stated, “I’ll never go back to him, even if he is the richest guy around. I haven’t even asked for alimony; it was a nightmare, and it’s over.”

Mithun, who had assured Helena’s father that he would treat her like the "ninth wonder of the world,” ended up leaving her feeling abandoned. In the interview, she expressed, “I truly believed him when he said he loved me. But as I got to know him better, I realized he only loved himself. He was extremely immature, and although I was years younger, I felt much older. He was very possessive and accused me of secretly seeing my ex-boyfriend Javed. I would get frustrated trying to convince him that I wasn’t, but I couldn’t change his deeply rooted suspicions. Eventually, I understood that he had a guilt complex; he was cheating on me and assumed I was doing the same.”

According to reports, Helena's final social media post indicated that she was not in good health, and her failure to seek timely medical treatment contributed to her passing.

Kaun Banega Crorepati faces backlash over historical mix-up on actress Zubeida; son and veteran journalist Khalid Mohamed demands clarification

On a recent episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati 16, actor Varun Dhawan appeared alongside directors Raj and DK to promote his upcoming web series Citadel: Honey Bunny. As part of the game, the show's host, Amitabh Bachchan, posed a question to Dhawan and DK that referenced a notable historical figure, yet it soon became clear that the information given was incorrect, sparking significant online attention and critique.

Confusion Over Actress Zubeida’s Identity During the episode, Big B asked, "Which actress tragically passed away in a plane crash along with her husband, Maharaja Hanwant Singh of Jodhpur?" The options provided were Sulochana, Mumtaz, Nadira, and Zubeida. Varun Dhawan and Raj and DK, confused by the question, opted to use two of their three lifelines, finally selecting Zubeida as their answer. Bachchan then shared additional details, explaining that Zubeida starred in Alam Ara, India's first talkie film, and that her life inspired the Bollywood film Zubeidaa, which starred Karisma Kapoor and Manoj Bajpayee.

However, after the episode aired, social media users pointed out an error in the question’s context, noting that there are two Zubeidas: one, the actress from Alam Ara, and the other, Maharaja Hanwant Singh’s wife. This discrepancy was quickly highlighted by viewers, who questioned the accuracy of the show’s research. Zubeida's Son, Khalid Mohammed, Demands Clarification The mistake gained further traction when Khalid Mohammed, son of the Alam Ara actress Zubeida and a veteran journalist, publicly addressed the mix-up. He took to social media to seek clarification, writing, "kaunbanegacrorepati... Whoever calls the shots, may I request for a clarification on KBC. Zubeida (Dhanragir) was a renowned actress who featured in Alam Ara. Not my maa Zubeida, who wished to act but wasn’t permitted by her strict father. How could your research team make such a gaffe?"

Khalid’s comment has fuelled further discussion online, with some users supporting his point. One user on X (formerly Twitter) wrote, "So #KaunBanegaKarodPati goofed up today with the question on Maharaja Hanwant Singh and his wife Zubeida Begum, who both died in a plane crash in 1952. #KBC." Another viewer explained that the Zubeida who starred in Alam Ara was married to the Maharaja of Hyderabad and lived until the late 1980s, contrasting with the details provided on the show.

kaunbanegacrorepati.... Whoever calls the shots may I request for a clarification on KBC. Zubeida (Dhanragir) was renowned actress who featured in Alam Ara. Not my maa Zubeida, did wish to act, wasn't permitted by her strict father. How cld your research team make such a gaffe? — khalid mohamed (@Jhajhajha) November 1, 2024

Meanwhile, the channel has not issued any clarification over the same, as of now.
