Resul Pookutty refutes AR Rahman's communal remark, "He shouldn't have said that. I have never faced anything like that in my entire career"

Oscar winning sound designer has much common in A R Rahman. They both won Oscars for Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire and they are both Muslim.

So, has Resul also felt the “communal thing” that Rahman says he has experienced?

Said Resul, “He shouldn’t have said that. I have never faced anything like that in my entire career. I think film industry is one sector where such thoughts haven’t gone deep rooted and we see things way beyond sectarian thoughts. I’m very proud of that aspect of my industry.”

Defending Rahman’s remarks Resul Pookutty said, “If you listen to what he said about this is, when he was removed from projects he ‘heard’ whispers from people referring to it as ‘that might be communal’. Now what he said is what people told him. In the same breath he said, people are too mature to not see things beyond all these factors. It seems we are very quick to pin Rahman down. I think he said things with sincerity. Let’s not crucify him for what he felt about the situation at the moment when he was being asked about it.”

Randeep Hooda becomes investor for health and wellness brand TeinPro, marks foray into entrepreneurship

Actor Randeep Hooda has taken his first step into entrepreneurship by joining as an investor in TeinPro, an Indian health and nutrition brand focused on clean, everyday protein solutions. The move reflects Hooda’s long-standing interest in disciplined living and mindful health choices, rather than a conventional celebrity business association.

Founded by Chinmay Barik, Raghav Gupta and Kshitij Shokeen, TeinPro positions itself as a wellness brand aimed at addressing everyday nutritional gaps, particularly protein deficiency in Indian diets. The company currently offers protein and energy bars designed for people with active routines, long workdays, or those seeking balanced nutrition without extreme fitness messaging.

Speaking about his association with the venture, Hooda explained that his decision was rooted in personal alignment rather than commercial intent. “I’ve never been someone who believes in attaching my name to things casually. For me, any association off screen has to feel honest and reflective of how I live my life,” he said.

Hooda shared that his interaction with the founding team played a key role in his decision. “When I interacted with the founders, Chinmay, Raghav and Kshitij, I connected with the simplicity of their thinking. They weren’t trying to sell extremes or push a fitness fad,” he noted. According to the actor, what stood out was the brand’s focus on everyday nourishment suited to Indian lifestyles.

Highlighting the relevance of the product in a local context, Hooda added, “The innately Indian diet does not meet the necessary requirement of protein intake that one needs daily. What stood out to me was how the protein and energy bars are positioned, not just for people who train intensely, but also for those who have long workdays, active routines, or simply want to make better food choices.”

He further emphasised the importance of simplicity and balance in nutrition. “The idea of creating something clean, with no added sugar or preservatives, and keeping the emphasis on balance rather than excess, felt very natural to me. Protein doesn’t need to be intimidating or complicated. It can and should be a part of daily life,” Hooda said.

Known for physically demanding and restrained performances in films such as Sarbjit, Highway and Swatantrya Veer Savarkar, Hooda’s career has often reflected a focus on discipline and intent—qualities that now extend to his entrepreneurial choices. His role at TeinPro is that of an investor, backing what he describes as a thoughtful and sustainable idea rather than an endorsement-driven partnership.

SCOOP: Shah Rukh Khan and Siddharth Anand LOCK Christmas 2026 release for King; Announcement on the way

After the historic success of Pathaan, Shah Rukh Khan and Siddharth Anand are reuniting for the second time on King. The film rides on a stellar star-cast with Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Anil Kapoor, Rani Mukerji, Abhishek Bachchan, Jaideep Ahlawat, Arshad Warsi, Suhana Khan and Abhay Verma among others. Over the last few days, there has been a historic buzz around the release date of this tentpole actioner.

Bollywood Hungama is bringing to all the readers an exclusive scoop on King. Reliable sources have confirmed that Shah Rukh Khan and Siddharth Anand have locked a Christmas 2026 release for King. "The duo of SRK and Sid were brainstorming several options for their release, and the two in the forefront were - December 4 and December 25. After weighing all options, they have locked a Christmas 2026 release for their action packed entertainer."

The source also informed us further that the film is skipping the iconic December 4 window due to Ramayana. "SRK and Sid are clear in maintaining a gap from Ramayana, which could go on to record a historic business. They don't want to come and hurt the business of this divine saga in any way, and hence have locked a Christmas 2026 release. This ensures a gap of 45 days between Ramayana and King, giving both the films the breathing space that they deserve."

With a Christmas release, SRK will be enjoying an open run at the box office, as no Hindi film is slated to arrive in that coveted window. There is Avengers: Doomsday a week before, but Hollywood films are frontloaded and for the Hindi cinema audience, there's nothing that can top the experience of watching a Shah Rukh Khan film on the big screen."

An official announcement for the release date of King is expected to be made in the coming week.

Anil Kapoor to duel with Jr NTR in Prashanth Neel’s Dragon

Prashanth Neel’s action drama Dragon just got its North Indian tadka. Anil Kapoor has joined the cast in a prominent role. Anil is apparently playing the antagonist.

To cast a Bollywood actor opposite an A-lister Telugu actor has become quite the thing. It started with Neil Nitin Mukesh, followed by Bobby Deol in several Telugu films.

About Anil Kapoor in Dragon, the film’s team is quite tightlipped about his role. However, a source close to the development revealed that Anil would be making an appearance at a pivotal juncture in the narrative.

“It is a brief but very important character, and Anil has agreed to do it for NTR’s sake,” the source informed.

Bhumi Pednekar starrer Daldal to stream on Prime Video from January 30; watch teaser!

Prime Video announced January 30 as the worldwide premiere date of its Hindi crime thriller series Daldal, accompanied by a gripping and grisly teaser. Based on Vish Dhamija’s bestselling book Bhendi Bazaar, Daldal, an Abundantia Entertainment production, is created for a series by Suresh Triveni, and produced by Vikram Malhotra and Triveni. Directed by Amrit Raj Gupta, and written by Triveni alongside Sreekanth Agneeaswaran, Rohan D’Souza, Priya Saggi and Hussain Haidry.

Set against the backdrop of Mumbai, the series follows Rita Ferreira, Mumbai Crime Branch’s newly appointed DCP, portrayed by Bhumi Satish Pednekkar, as she finds herself facing a cold-blooded killer in a high-stakes game of survival. Alongside Pednekkar, the series also stars Samara Tijori and Aditya Rawal in lead roles. Daldal will premiere exclusively on Prime Video worldwide on January 30.

Daldal centers on DCP Rita Ferreira, a cop driven by justice yet haunted by guilt and the demons of her past, as she is drawn into a chilling pursuit of a cold-blooded killer. The teaser plunges audiences into a world where violence and psychological dread doesn’t just shock, it lingers. The atmospheric teaser reveals victims brutally murdered – wrists slashed; mouths grotesquely stuffed with raw pieces of meat, mobile phones, and other objects; each crime exposing a deeply twisted psyche. As the investigation deepens, Rita finds herself caught between the savagery of the case and her own inner turmoil, while also confronting biases within the force. Unflinching in its portrayal of brutality, the teaser makes it clear that this series is not for the faint-hearted.

At its core, Daldal is not just a crime suspense story, but a powerful exploration of trauma and morality—driven not by the question of who committed the crime, but by the far more haunting question of why.

A post shared by prime video IN (@primevideoin)

"Crime thrillers make for a compelling watch as they allow us to combine edge-of-your-seat suspense with deep, character-driven storytelling. With Daldal, however, our aim is to push the envelope further with a genre-defying narrative," said Nikhil Madhok, director & head of Originals, Prime Video India. "Daldal isn't your typical psychological crime thriller. It goes beyond the conventional whodunnit to ask 'why' – weaving together themes of trauma, vulnerability, and resilience into its very fabric. We are thrilled to once again join hands with our long-standing collaborators at Abundantia Entertainment to present this series, which features compelling performances from an exceptional cast and a distinctive atmospheric tone. We believe Daldal will both entertain and deeply engage audiences in India and across the world."

"At Abundantia, we have always endeavored to bring stories that unsettle, challenge, and linger long after the screen fades to black and Daldal is one such example. It is driven not by spectacle, but by psychological depth and an intense emotional unease that runs through the texture of the story," said Vikram Malhotra, founder & CEO of Abundantia Entertainment and producer of Daldal. "Our attempt is to shatter the template of the crime thriller and we've chosen to go beyond the cop-killer story to explore the darker corners of the human psyche. It is always a delight to collaborate with the amazing team at Prime Video and take yet another bold step in our collective commitment to bringing impactful stories to life, this time partnering with the indomitable Suresh Triveni. With powerful performances by Bhumi, Samara and Aditya, and under the direction of Amrit Raj Gupta, Daldal redefines the crime thriller space by placing character and consequence at its core. We can't wait for audiences in India and across the world to experience this gripping journey when the series premieres worldwide on Prime Video on January 30."

What compelled me most about Daldal was its exploration of morality and the often-overlooked emotional and psychological origins behind violence, rather than just the act itself. This is a story about guilt, identity, and unresolved wounds, told through the lens of a crime investigation that feels deeply unsettling yet personal," said Suresh Triveni, creator and producer of Daldal. "It was important for us to create a thriller that feels almost like horror in the way the dread builds quietly, tension simmers beneath the surface, and every character carries their own scars. In a genre often dominated by external action, we wanted to turn the lens inward, examining how trauma shapes behavior and how the past refuses to stay buried which could only be achieved by a stellar writing team of Sreekanth, Rohan, Priya and Hussain. Bringing this vision to life required exceptional talent both in front of and behind the camera and Bhumi delivers a career-defining performance as Rita, embodying vulnerability and strength in equal measure, along with an ensemble of equally terrific actors, while Amrit's direction creates an atmosphere of unrelenting tension that keeps you on edge. Working closely with Vikram and Prime Video, a service we deeply trust creatively, gave us the freedom to explore these darker, more uncomfortable spaces without compromise. I am looking forward to the series’ premiere in India and around the world on January 30. I believe Daldal will resonate with audiences who are looking for crime stories that are as introspective and emotionally layered as they are. Gripping stories that don't just ask 'who did it,' but 'what made them who they are’.”

Daldal kicks off a thrilling season of crime on Prime, alongside the highly anticipated return of Aldis Hodge in season two of Cross, Guy Ritchie’s reimagining and origin story of the beloved detective Sherlock Holmes in Young Sherlock, the gripping and sophisticated forensic mystery Scarpetta starring Nicole Kidman and Jamie Lee Curtis, and addictive new thriller series 56 Days starring Dove Cameron based on the best-selling novel by Catherine Ryan Howard and Shobhita Dhulipala starrer Telugu movie Cheekatilo — all launching exclusively on Prime Video this spring.

Sanjay Dutt spotted with Tesla Cybertruck on Mumbai roads

Veteran Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt was recently spotted behind the wheel of a Tesla Cybertruck on the streets of Mumbai — a rare sight that has grabbed attention from both automobile enthusiasts and cinephiles. The striking appearance of one of the world’s most futuristic electric vehicles alongside one of India’s most iconic stars has ignited discussions across social platforms.

The Tesla Cybertruck — known for its angular, stainless-steel design and electric-pickup performance — is not officially on sale in India yet. The truck seen in Mumbai carries Dubai registration plates and is believed to have been imported using a Carnet permit, a common route that allows vehicles to be temporarily brought into India without paying hefty customs duties and taxes. Once the permit period ends, the vehicle must be re-exported.

Footage shared on social media shows Dutt emerging from the left-hand-drive Cybertruck, confirming that the vehicle was brought in from outside India. With its bold exterior and futuristic presence on urban roads, the Cybertruck is already turning heads among fans and EV communities alike.

Speaking of Dutt’s professional front, he is currently seen in Dhurandhar, which was released on December 5, 2025, and The RajaSaab, which was released a couple of weeks ago.

The project, which remains untitled, is shaping up as an action-romance and is expected to go on floors in February 2026.

Sources familiar with the development say the film is designed to leverage the distinct on-screen personas of both actors, who are among Hindi cinema’s most physically commanding performers. The pairing of Shroff and Jammwal has generated significant interest among fans, as audiences have long anticipated seeing the two action stars together.

According to the report, Kirti Shetty has been roped in as the female lead, marking another notable project in her growing filmography. “Kirti Shetty has been roped in as the female lead, which will mark another big Bollywood outing for her,” a source told the portal. “This film is designed as a full-fledged, intense action love story. Did Sanjay Gupta confirm “deadlier” Kaabil 2 in now-deleted X comment? Here’s what we know!

Speculation around a sequel to Hrithik Roshan’s 2017 film Kaabil gained momentum after filmmaker Sanjay Gupta responded to a fan on social media with a message that appeared to hint at Kaabil 2. However, the tweet has since been deleted, and Gupta has not commented on the incident or issued any clarification so far.

The conversation began when a fan praised Kaabil as one of the strongest revenge thrillers in recent Hindi cinema and asked when a sequel would be made. Responding to the post on X (formerly Twitter), Gupta wrote, “IT’S R E A D Y!!! And this time far DEADELLIER!!!!” The reply quickly caught the attention of fans and was widely shared through screenshots across social media platforms.

Soon after the exchange went viral, the tweet disappeared from Gupta’s account. As of now, the filmmaker has neither addressed the deletion nor confirmed whether the sequel is officially in development. No statement has been released by the film’s production team either.

Released in 2017, Kaabil starred Hrithik Roshan and Yami Gautam and was directed by Sanjay Gupta. The film followed the story of a visually impaired man seeking justice after a personal tragedy and went on to perform well at the box office, later gaining a strong following among viewers. Over the years, audiences have frequently expressed interest in a continuation of the story.

Tiger Shroff and Conor McGregor to shape BKFC’s India expansion as Bare-Knuckle League launches

Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) and Bare Knuckle Fight League (BKFL) officially announce their historic entry into India, unlocking one of the world’s largest and most passionate combat sports markets.

This landmark expansion is being led by World League of Fighters (WLF) — the official license holder for BKFC — co-founded by Rajesh Banga, Sunil Mathew, and Siraj Gill, who together with David Feldman and Conor McGregor have invited Mr. Parag Sanghvi, prominent film producer, and Tiger Shroff, superstar in Indian cinema and martial artist, to join the board and help shape BKFC’s growth into a global phenomenon with India at its core. BKFC is already the fastest-growing combat sports organization in the world.

World League of Fighters (WLF) enters India with formidable global credentials, having successfully delivered the biggest and most electrifying BKFC event in the Middle East last year — a sold-out spectacle in Dubai that sent fans into a frenzy and set new benchmarks for live combat entertainment in the region.

For the first time in combat sports history, India will host a team-based bare-knuckle league format, transforming fights into a high-stakes global franchise competition — making the sport faster, fiercer, and more thrilling for fans worldwide.

The inaugural teams included Crushers, Punishers, Warriors, Phantoms, Gladiators, and Infernos.

To further strengthen the platform’s leadership, Mr. Rahul Saxena has been appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO). He is widely recognized for building and scaling multiple billion-dollar global brands, bringing unmatched commercial and operational expertise to the organization. India — home to over 1.4 billion people, a deep-rooted martial tradition, and rapidly expanding sports viewership — now becomes a cornerstone of the global growth strategy for BKFC, BKFL, and WLF.

Rajesh Banga, Sunil Mathew, and Siraj Gill stated: “India is not just a market — it is the future of global combat sports. Together with BKFC, BKFL, and WLF, we are building an ecosystem that will develop Indian fighters, create global stars, and deliver world-class fight entertainment to millions of fans.”

Mr. Parag Sanghvi, Board Member, added: “This is where world-class storytelling meets raw, uncompromising sport. With WLF, BKFC, and Conor McGregor, we are not just launching a league — we are architecting a global sports IP from India that will command attention, talent, and fandom worldwide.”

David Feldman, Founder & President of BKFC, said: “India has been on our roadmap for a long time. The scale, the energy, the culture — there is no place like it. With the leadership team we have assembled and our partnership with WLF, we are bringing the purest form of combat sports to a nation ready for it.”

Conor McGregor, Global Partner, BKFC, said: “India has warriors in its DNA. What we’re building with BKFC and BKFL in India will be something the world has never seen before. This is not just expansion — this is a revolution.”

Tiger Shroff, Superstar of Indian Cinema and Martial Artist, said: “Honoured to stand alongside Conor McGregor as we create something truly historic for Indian sport. This is more than a fight — it’s a global movement, and history is being written. Just like cinema, sport is a celebration of talent and skill, and Parag (Sanghvi) and I are committed to turning this into a landmark moment for India.”

The first official BKFC & BKFL team-based events are scheduled for 2026, with venue and fight card announcements coming soon.

This is not just a launch. This is the birth of India’s combat sports era.

EXCLUSIVE: CBFC censors ‘Kantara scream’ in Rahu Ketu; replaces middle finger with pinky finger

The comic caper Rahu Ketu, starring Pulkit Samrat, Varun Sharma, Shalini Pandey, Piyush Mishra, Chunky Panday, Amit Sial, Manu Rishi Chadha and Sumit Gulati, is all set to release on Friday, January 16. Earlier in the week, the makers completed the censor process on time. In this article, Bollywood Hungama will exclusively focus on the cut list.

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) passed the film with a U/A 16+ certificate. However, they asked the makers for a few changes. In a scene, a dialogue was replaced. The drug sniffing and snorting visuals were asked to be replaced with appropriate shots wherever they occurred in the film. The middle finger was asked to be modified to the pinky finger whenever shown in the movie. All alcohol brand names were asked to be removed.

That's not all. The makers were asked to submit an authentication letter for the Sanskrit Shloka used in the film. Lastly, the Examining Committee asked the makers to replace 'Kantara film music (voom) scream'.

Once these changes were made, the makers of Rahu Ketu were handed over the censor certificate on Monday, January 12. The length of the film, as mentioned on the certificate, is 139.40 minutes. In other words, Rahu Ketu is 2 hours, 19 minutes and 40 seconds long.

Rahu Ketu is backed by Zee Studios and B-Live Productions Pvt Ltd and produced by Umesh Kumar Bansal, Suraj Singh and Varsha Kukreja. It marks the return of Pulkit Samrat and Varun Sharma after their successful association in the Fukrey series. Interestingly, Vipul Vig, who was the writer of Fukrey (2013), Fukrey Returns (2017) and Fukrey 3 (2023), makes his directorial debut with Rahu Ketu.

Pulkit Samrat, Varun Sharma, Chunky Panday and Shalini Pandey promoted Rahu Ketu at the Bollywood Hungama OTT India Fest and India Entertainment Awards 2025. Pulkit Samrat said, “Since the time the first part of Fukrey released, Varun and I have been getting lots and lots of offers to do a film together. Aur bahut dukh hota hai kyunki humein bahut paise offer hote hai. When we reject so much money is when we realize that hum acche insaan hai! Hum sirf kaam ki kadar karte hai.”

He continued, “We were always very clear that if we both do a film together other than the Fukrey series, it has to be very interesting and a grade above than Fukrey. That is where Rahu Ketu comes in. It's a very exciting and fantastical world with very exciting characters. The way the story unfolds is heartwarming.”

Rajkumar Hirani-Aamir Khan’s Dadasaheb Phalke biopic to go on floors in March 2026 after script revisions: Report

Aamir Khan and filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani’s much-anticipated Dadasaheb Phalke biopic has seen a shift in its production timeline. While the project was earlier expected to go on floors in January 2026, the makers are now planning to begin filming in late March 2026.

In September 2025, Mid-Day had reported that the film was gearing up to roll early next year, with Khan reportedly moved to tears while revisiting key moments from Phalke’s life. However, plans have since changed as the actor-director duo have decided to further refine the screenplay before taking the film on set.

According to industry insiders, a fresh draft of the script is currently being developed, one that aligns with both Hirani and Khan’s creative vision while doing justice to the journey of Dhundiraj Govind Phalke, widely regarded as the Father of Indian cinema. The intent, sources say, is to ensure that the narrative resonates with contemporary audiences without compromising on historical authenticity.

A source told Mid-Day, “Hirani and Aamir agree that the film must feel emotionally contemporary while staying rooted in history. The rewrite is to fine-tune the balance of humour and sincerity. They want to ensure that the character arc captures Phalke’s stature. The draft will likely be finalised by February, and production will begin in late March.”

The development comes months after Aamir Khan and Rajkumar Hirani announced their reunion for the third time, following landmark collaborations such as 3 Idiots and PK. The announcement had sparked widespread anticipation across the industry. However, reports soon emerged suggesting that the project had been temporarily put on hold due to creative concerns.

Earlier, reliable sources had told Bollywood Hungama that both Khan and Hirani were dissatisfied with earlier drafts of the script. “Aamir Khan and Rajkumar Hirani stand for perfection, and they were not happy with the script of Dadasaheb Phalke Biopic. Aamir felt that the script is too dry for the audience in today’s world, and doesn’t have the humour that one expects from their collaboration,” the source had stated.

The source further added, “After repeated sessions of rewrite, the duo have collectively decided to put the project on hold. They believe that a personality as iconic as Dadasaheb Phalke deserves a script that is both emotionally stirring and universally engaging. Until they arrive at that benchmark, they are in no hurry to rush the film into production.”

Meanwhile, Aamir Khan is said to be evaluating his future projects carefully. The actor is reportedly reading multiple scripts and is expected to announce his next film in the first quarter of 2026. “He is in the process of reading at least 20 scripts at the moment and will pick one of the shortlisted projects,” a source revealed.

Currently, Aamir is busy with promotions of his next film, Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos, which is directed by Vir Das, and is slated to release on January 16, 2026.

Saif Ali Khan wins legal battle as Bhopal Court dismisses claim against actor’s 16.62-acre Nayapura land: Reports

Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan and his family have secured a major legal victory after a Bhopal court upheld their ownership of a 16.62-acre parcel of land in the city’s Nayapura area, dismissing a long-running dispute challenging their claim. The judgment brings a favourable outcome to what has been a protracted legal battle over property historically linked to the family of the former ruling elite of Bhopal.

Reportedly, the civil suit challenged the ownership rights of the land, with petitioners claiming entitlement based on historical transactions. However, the local court found that the challengers had not provided sufficient evidence to substantiate their claims and ruled in favour of Saif Ali Khan, his mother Sharmila Tagore, sister Soha Ali Khan, and other legal heirs of the Pataudi family. As a result, the court dismissed the suit and reaffirmed the family’s legal ownership of the valuable property.

The Nayapura land, which has been under dispute for years, holds significance for the Pataudi family not only because of its value but also due to its historical association with the family’s legacy. Legal experts noted that the petitioners failed to establish their assertions with credible documentation or legally binding proof, leading the court to reject the challenge.

This verdict represents a notable relief for Saif Ali Khan and his family, who had been embroiled in legal wrangling over the property for more than two decades. The dismissal of the rival suit ensures that the land remains under the family’s control and resolves ongoing uncertainty over its rightful ownership.

Suniel Shetty to launch ‘Jaate Hue Lamhon’ from Border 2 at Mumbai’s Navy Nagar: Report

The makers of the upcoming war drama Border 2 are expanding their promotional strategy with a series of high-profile events, and one such moment will see Suniel Shetty unveil the recreated version of the iconic song ‘Jaate Hue Lamhon’ in Mumbai’s Navy Nagar on January 12, ahead of the film’s theatrical release later this month.

‘Jaate Hue Lamhon’ is one of the most memorable tracks from the 1997 original Border, where it was picturised on Shetty himself. For the sequel, the song has been re-imagined with music by Mithoon and vocals by Roop Kumar Rathod, blending nostalgia with the emotional tone of the new film.

In a first for the Border franchise’s promotional campaign, the launch will take place inside Mumbai’s Navy Nagar, a highly restricted Indian Navy residential cantonment in Colaba. This setting reinforces the film’s connection to India’s armed forces, underscoring its themes of military service and sacrifice. Army personnel and their families based in the cantonment are expected to attend the event.

For this event, Suniel Shetty will be joined by his son Ahaan Shetty, along with the Border 2 cast and crew. A source told Mid-Day that the team intends to tailor the marketing campaign to honor not only the film but the real-life communities connected to the spirit of its story, particularly by engaging with military audiences.

Following the song unveiling, the promotional push will continue with a trailer launch aboard the INS Vikrant, the Indian Navy’s aircraft carrier that has recently participated in operations such as Operation Sindoor and Operation Sagar Bandhu.

Border 2 is directed by Anurag Singh and brings back elements of the original’s patriotic narrative while introducing new characters and expanded naval storylines. Ahan Shetty’s character, Lt Cdr MS Rawat, plays a central role as the commanding officer of a naval ship, featuring several key missions woven into the film’s depiction of the Indo-Pak war of 1971.

The film stars Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty and others, and is set to arrive in cinemas on January 23, 2026.

REVEALED: Land bought by Amitabh Bachchan for Rs 7 cr in 2007 near GIFT City, Gujarat now valued at WHOPPING Rs 210 cr; Abhishek to build massive project on the same land

On January 10, it emerged that Abhishek Bachchan is set to enter the real estate space with a project in GIFT City, Gandhinagar, Gujarat. He has entered into a profit-sharing agreement with producer and real estate mogul Anand Pandit for the development, which aims to create luxury residential, office and retail spaces spanning over one million sq ft of built-up area.

Interestingly, reports also stated that the complex will come up on land purchased by Amitabh Bachchan over a decade ago, when he was Gujarat’s brand ambassador. Anand Pandit told Mid-Day that Amitabh has gifted the land to Abhishek. Meanwhile, further reports have surfaced about the land’s valuation then, and what it is estimated to be worth today.

As per an article in Bhaskar, Amitabh Bachchan bought the land parcel for Rs. 7 crores from Virambhai Rudabhai Gamara of Chandlodiya, Ahmedabad. It is located at Shahpur village, very close to GIFT City. The deal was carried out by Rajesh Rishikesh Yadav, Managing Director of ABCL, who represented Amitabh Bachchan as his power-of-attorney holder.

The report further stated that this land measures 5.72 acres. As per the current rate, the land's value is estimated to be Rs. 210 crores. In other words, the value of the land increased by Rs. 203 crores and this is a feat considering Big B invested Rs. 7 crores for it just 15 years ago.

The Bhaskar story carried a quote of Shahpur village head H K Patel, who confessed that Amitabh Bachchan’s investment has boosted confidence in the region. He further added that the real estate prices have been going steadily upwards, leading to development in the region.

Coming back to the luxurious project, Lotus Developers will handle the project’s design, planning and construction, while the land will continue to be owned by the Bachchan family. The execution will be undertaken by Lotus Developers’ subsidiary, Rise Root Projects Pvt. Ltd., under a profit-sharing arrangement between the developer and Abhishek Bachchan.

Madness in Surat

The past weekend also saw Amitabh Bachchan visit Surat, Gujarat. Videos of the veteran actor being mobbed in the city have surfaced on social media.

Amitabh was in Surat for the opening ceremony of the Indian Street Premier League (ISPL), which is scheduled to be held from January 9 to February 6 at Lalbhai Stadium. He was also joined by Akshay Kumar, Suriya, Ram Charan, Sachin Tendulkar and others. As expected, the presence of so many film and sport stars led to excitement among the attendees.

Amitabh Bachchan owns one of the eight teams of ISPL, Majhi Mumbai. He flew down to Surat in a chartered flight and was joined by Anand Pandit. Bollywood Hungama has accessed an exclusive picture of Big B mid-air.

BREAKING: Digital18 media issues public notice over OMG franchise rights amid buzz around Oh My Goddess

In a development that has raised eyebrows, Digital18 Media Private Limited has issued a public notice asserting its ownership and legal rights over the OMG (Oh My God) franchise. The notice, published on January 10, 2026, in Atul Mohan’s Complete Cinema magazine, formally cautions all entities against developing, marketing, or producing any derivative, sequel, prequel, or spin-off of OMG 2 (2023) without Digital18’s written consent.

According to the notice, Digital18 Media Private Limited, aka Digital18, is the successor-in-interest to the studios business of Viacom18 Media Private Limited, following a court-approved Composite Scheme of Arrangement effective November 14, 2024. This makes Digital18 the joint owner and co-proprietor of all derivative and franchise rights arising from the cinematograph film OMG 2, including its goodwill, brand value, and public association.

The strongly worded notice places “all persons and entities” on alert that any communication or arrangement concerning the development, production, or financing of a sequel or related work without Digital18’s authorization constitutes infringement. It explicitly states that no third party is entitled to develop or announce any sequel or derivative work, directly or indirectly linked to OMG 2, without prior written approval. Furthermore, it warns that using titles or promotional material deceptively similar to OMG could amount to misrepresentation and dilution of proprietary rights.

It is believed this clarification has surfaced amid reports that OMG 3, reportedly titled Oh My Goddess, is in development. According to reports, the project stars Akshay Kumar and Rani Mukerji, with the actor expected to have an extended cameo role similar in length to his screen time in OMG 2.

Just yesterday, Bollywood Hungama reported that Oh My Goddess is slated to go on floors in February 2026. Such reports are said to have sparked speculation about the ownership of the franchise rights and probably prompted Digital18 to publicly reassert its position.

The notice concludes that any unauthorized sequel or branding resembling the OMG franchise will be treated as a violation of contractual and proprietary rights under applicable law.

EXCLUSIVE: Rani Mukerji-starrer Oh My Goddess to go on floors in February; Akshay Kumar to have an extended cameo on the scale of OMG 2

The year 2026 began on a surprising note as news broke that Akshay Kumar had signed on for the third installment of the OMG series. The reports further claimed that this time, he would be joined by Rani Mukerji, who would be headlining the film. And that’s not all. This film won’t be called OMG 3 but instead has been named Oh My Goddess. Bollywood Hungama has learned that the film in question is indeed being made and has found more information on the film.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Oh My Goddess goes on floors in February. It was reported that Akshay Kumar would have a special appearance and would shoot for only a day or two. However, the truth is that he has an extended cameo and has devoted many more days to filming. In fact, his screen time is the same or almost as the one he had in OMG 2 (2023).”

The source further said, “The script was locked last year. It’s a unique idea and director Amit Rai has gone one step ahead this time to give the audience a novel experience within the OMG world. Everyone in the team is excited about the film and taking it on the floors. Also, Akshay Kumar and Rani Mukerji haven’t shared screen space ever and this has added to the buzz within and outside the industry.”

Meanwhile, Rani Mukerji is all set to have a busy 2026. An industry insider commented, “Rani’s Mardaani 3 releases in cinemas on February 27. If Oh My Goddess indeed goes on floors next month, she’ll be juggling both the shoot of the film as well as the promotions of her cop drama. She’ll also be filming for Shah Rukh Khan’s much-awaited flick, King. This means that after a long time, Rani will have two releases this year. OMG 3 is expected to arrive in cinemas in 2027.”

A few days ago, we reported that the comic caper might not be able to make it on Independence Day as planned. We now bring to you another exciting news from the sets of the film. Bollywood Hungama has learned that the role of the antagonist is being played by none other than Ravi Kishan.

A source told us, “Kartik Aaryan’s character is important and so is that of the villain in the story. The makers realized that Ravi Kishan fits the bill perfectly. He has always been a fine actor and has proved his worth in recent times with his performances in Laapataa Ladies (2024), Mamla Legal Hai (2024), Son Of Sardaar 2 (2025) etc. Ravi was quite excited to come on board this unique film and to play a very interesting and well-written character.”

The source further said, “The scenes between Kartik Aaryan and Ravi Kishan are expected to be something to watch out for.”

In Naagzilla, Kartik Aaryan plays a shape-shifting nag. The film was announced last year and was scheduled for a release on August 14 to take advantage of the Independence Day weekend and is now expected to release later this year.

Earlier, a source told Bollywood Hungama, “The shoot is expected to be wrapped up in a few months. Moreover, this is a film with heavy VFX. As a result, the post-production is going to take a lot of time. The makers of the film and lead actor Kartik Aaryan are very clear that they don’t want to rush through the process. They are aware that they have a special film in hand and want to nurture and fine-tune it properly before presenting it to the audience.”

Naagzilla is directed by Mrighdeep Singh Lamba of Fukrey fame and backed by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and Mahaveer Jain’s Mahaveer Jain Films. It marks the first association of Kartik Aaryan and Mahaveer Jain, Mahaveer Jain and Karan Johar and the second film for Kartik and KJo after Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri.

REVEALED in Madras High Court order: Scenes in Vijay’s Jana Nayagan that triggered CBFC complaint – National Flag visuals, Army references, foreign powers provoking religious conflict

On Friday, January 9, the Madras High Court ruled in favour of Jana Nayagan’s makers and asked the CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification) to grant the film a U/A 16+ certificate. The CBFC immediately challenged that decision and requested a fresh review. Following the appeal, the court put its earlier order on hold for now. It also noted that the producers of the Vijay-starrer appeared to have created an unnecessary sense of urgency about the film’s release date, which may have pressured the court, as reported by Live Law. The case will be heard again on January 21, which puts a question mark on whether the much-awaited flick would be able to make it in cinemas this month.

Bollywood Hungama has a copy of the court order, which revealed that the producer had applied for certification on December 18, 2025. The film was screened for the Examining Committee on December 19, and the committee unanimously recommended U/A 16+ subject to modifications. The makers carried out the cuts and submitted the required Form IX on December 24, with the record showing the excised portions were verified.

Then came the twist. On January 5, the CBFC informed the producers that the ‘competent authority’ had decided to send the film to a Revising Committee due to a complaint alleging content issues, specifically, claims of hurting religious sensibilities and portrayal of armed forces.

The complaint, reproduced in court, flagged allegations about the film’s scenes and dialogues. It claimed the movie shows ‘visuals and dialogues’ suggesting foreign powers stoking large-scale religious conflict in India. The complainant claimed that it might potentially disturb religious harmony. It also pointed to multiple Army-related references and alleged that no defence expert was included in the Examining Committee despite such content.

Another flashpoint mentioned in the order was visuals involving the National Flag, a portion that, the court notes, had already been asked to be excised during the original examination and was removed.

Crucially, the court observed that the complainant was himself a member of the Examining Committee, and that many of the points raised in his complaint overlapped with objections he had already recorded earlier, that is, objections that were subsequently complied with through cuts. The judge went on to call the grievance an ‘afterthought’ and ‘motivated’, warning that such reversals could erode the sanctity of the CBFC process.

Holding that the Chairperson’s power to refer a film to a Revising Committee ended once the Board accepted the Examining Committee recommendation (communicated on December 22), the court said the later referral decision uploaded on January 6 was without jurisdiction.

Randeep Hooda comes on board STAGE as brand ambassador, backing stories rooted in Haryanvi, Bhojpuri and Rajasthani languages

Randeep Hooda has always worn his roots with pride. From repeatedly speaking about where he comes from to choosing stories that reflect lived realities, the actor has consistently championed regional cultures, languages and identities on both Indian and global stages. Never one to dilute his origin in pursuit of scale, Hooda has long believed that authenticity is what gives storytelling its power. It is this deeply ingrained philosophy that now finds a natural extension as he comes on board STAGE as its brand ambassador.

At a time when India’s OTT landscape is rapidly redefining what “mainstream” looks like, Hooda’s association with a platform focused on Haryanvi, Rajasthani and Bhojpuri storytelling feels instinctive rather than transactional. The collaboration reflects a shared belief that stories rooted in one’s mother tongue can be aspirational, premium and globally resonant. With over 5.5 million paying subscribers across North India, STAGE’s growing audience underscores a cultural shift that Hooda himself has long stood for regional stories finding their rightful place in popular culture.

More than a celebrity association, the partnership is driven by a common commitment to preserving and celebrating linguistic identity. Founded in 2019 in Indore and now headquartered in Noida, STAGE has steadily built a content library spanning original films, series and micro-dramas, carving out space for voices and narratives often overlooked by mainstream entertainment ecosystems.

Known as one of the true shapeshifters of Indian cinema, Randeep Hooda has built an enviable body of work across Highway, Sarbjit, CAT and Extraction, consistently choosing characters that are grounded, raw and reflective of real India. Speaking about the association, Hooda shared that the decision felt deeply personal. “I’ve always believed in embracing your roots as we move forward with times. For me, language and culture are not limitations, they are strengths that shape who we are and how we see the world. The stories that stay with us the longest are the ones that sound familiar, feel lived-in, and come from a place of truth. Associating with storytelling that honours regional languages and cultural identity feels deeply personal to me, because it reflects the values I’ve always carried with me”

As part of the association, Hooda will front integrated campaigns across digital, social, television and outdoor platforms, while also championing the platform’s TV app, reinforcing his belief that storytelling, especially in regional languages, thrives when experienced collectively in Indian homes.

Looking ahead to 2026, the platform’s upcoming slate includes titles such as Jaan Legi Sonam (Bhojpuri), Videshi Bahu (Haryanvi) and Kayantar (Rajasthani), alongside returning audience favourites like Punarjanam, Mahapunarjanam and Mokhan Vahini. Its two-minute micro-dramas continue to stand out as a unique format in the regional OTT space.

STAGE already has Olympic gold medallist Neeraj Chopra associated with the platform, and with Randeep Hooda joining the fold, it brings together individuals who represent excellence without disconnecting from their origins. With over 200 million speakers across its core language markets, the platform’s growth mirrors a larger movement, one that Hooda has long embodied, where regional voices are no longer peripheral, but central to India’s evolving entertainment story.

BREAKING: The RajaSaab ends with the promise of a sequel titled RajaSaab 2: Circus 1935

The Prabhas-starrer The RajaSaab has sprung a major surprise on audiences, with the film ending on a clear hint that the story is far from over. In a move that will set social media buzzing, the makers reveal in the final moments that the film will continue in a sequel titled RajaSaab 2: Circus 1935.

While The RajaSaab largely plays out as a horror-comedy mounted on a lavish scale, its closing stretch opens the doors to a much bigger universe. The title Circus 1935 suggests that the sequel will travel back in time, promising a blend of vintage aesthetics, mystery and spectacle, elements that align well with director Maruthi’s penchant for mixing genre thrills with mass entertainment.

With The RajaSaab already generating strong buzz for its scale, visuals and Prabhas’ larger-than-life presence, the announcement of RajaSaab 2: Circus 1935 has only amplified the excitement among fans.

Interestingly, the title hints at a darker, more enigmatic setting, with a circus backdrop from the 1930s. This is an era rarely explored in mainstream Indian cinema, especially within the horror-comedy space. If executed well, the sequel could significantly expand the mythology introduced in The RajaSaab, offering deeper backstories and new characters while retaining the core charm of the franchise.

As of now, the makers have kept details under tight wraps. There is no official confirmation on the timeline of production or whether the sequel will go on floors immediately.

With franchises becoming increasingly important in Indian cinema, The RajaSaab positioning itself as the first chapter of a larger saga seems like a calculated and confident move. If RajaSaab 2: Circus 1935 lives up to the promise of its intriguing title, audiences could be in for an even more ambitious and thrilling cinematic experience.

Besides Prabhas, The RajaSaab also stars Sanjay Dutt, Malavika Mohanan, Nidhhi Agerwal, Riddhi Kumar and others.

Hrithik Roshan backed Storm goes on floor; filmmaker Ajitpal Singh aims for February wrap

While fans continue to await Hrithik Roshan’s return to the big screen, the superstar is currently channelling his creative energy into a different role — that of a producer. Hrithik’s debut series production under the HRX banner, tentatively titled Storm, has officially gone on floors, according to sources quoted by Mid-Day. Ever since the project was announced, it has generated strong buzz, and the latest update has only heightened anticipation.

Sharing details about the progress, a source revealed, “The shooting for Storm is in full swing. Ajitpal Singh serves as the show’s director, writer, and creator. It’s largely a start-to-end schedule. Ajit is looking at wrapping it by February.” The update indicates a tightly planned shoot, with the makers aiming to complete the series within a defined timeline.

Another source shed light on Hrithik Roshan’s close involvement with the project, especially during its development phase. “Hrithik and Ajitpal have spent considerable time exchanging ideas through the scripting and pre-production stage. Hrithik is kicked about the show’s script. He loved Ajit’s directorial venture Tabbar (2021). So, he knows the filmmaker will bring his unique flavour to the genre, where style, substance, and sensitivity will unite,” the source shared.

Storm was officially announced by Prime Video in October last year as an upcoming Original drama series. The high-stakes thriller is set in Mumbai and is produced by Hrithik Roshan and Eshaan Roshan under HRX Films, a division of FilmKraft Productions. The show boasts a strong ensemble cast led by Parvathy Thiruvothu, Alaya F, Srishti Shrivastava, Rrama Sharma, with Hrithik’s partner Saba Azad also playing a key role.

The narrative of Storm delves into a gripping world of ambition, secrets, and survival in the heart of Mumbai. Written by Ajitpal Singh along with François Lunel and Swati Das, the series promises an intense storyline driven by powerful women characters navigating high-pressure, high-stakes situations — a theme that has already piqued curiosity among viewers.

On the acting front, Hrithik Roshan was last seen in War 2, continuing his association with large-scale action spectacles. He is also expected to make an intense cameo appearance in the upcoming spy thriller Alpha, starring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari. The film is a key addition to Aditya Chopra’s ambitious YRF Spy Universe.

EXCLUSIVE: After Animal, Pushpa 2 and Dhurandhar, Border 2 joins the ELITE 3+ hour club; runtime expected to be around 3 hours 20 minutes

There was a time, not too long ago, when it was considered that films should not be too lengthy; or else, it might put off a section of the audience. But in 2023, the myth was broken by Animal (2023). It had a runtime of 3 hours and 23 minutes. Pushpa 2 (2025), meanwhile, was also long – 3 hours 20 minutes. Dhurandhar, the biggest hit of 2025 and Hindi cinema, went one step further as it was 3 hours and 34 minutes long. Incidentally, all three were major blockbusters. And joining this elite list is Border 2. Bollywood Hungama has learned that the period war drama’s run time has exceeded 3 hours.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Border 2 is around 200 minutes long. In other words, its duration is around 3 hours and 20 minutes. The exact run time might change by a few minutes after the final touches are given. It will be locked in a few days and will be known once the film secures a censor certificate.”

The source further added, “The makers feel that it was necessary for the film to have such a lengthy run time as they want viewers to get a proper idea of the war being depicted in the film. Moreover, there are 4 major actors (Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty) and their tracks; justice needs to be done to them. This is the reason for its run time. At the same time, the makers have ensured that the film has enough dramatic, massy and patriotic moments to keep the viewers gripped and also compel them to break into claps or whistles.”

Border 2 releases on January 23 to take advantage of the Republic Day holiday, on Monday, January 26, and also the extended four-day weekend. While the first part, Border (1997), was directed by J P Dutta, the sequel is directed by Anurag Singh of Kesari (2019) fame. J P Dutta, this time, has produced the film along with Nidhi Dutta and also Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar of T-Series.

January – a month of lengthy films

Border 2 is not the only film this month to be 3 hours plus long. This week’s The Raja Saab has a run time of 3 hours and 9 minutes, while Jana Nayagan is expected to be 3 hours and 3 minutes long.

Revenue streams will be driven by spa operations and memberships, retreat and resort bookings, licensing and revenue-share models, managed wellness vacation homes, and curated brand collaborations and wellness programs.

Over the next 5 years, the alliance aims to establish flagship assets and urban spa leadership by 2025-26, expand to over 50 wellness touchpoints nationwide by 2027-28, and emerge by 2029-30 as India’s largest regulated wellness network, with plans for international expansion into GCC and Southeast Asian markets.

With Mrunal Thakur as the face of the brand, EBG Group and Carlton Wellness are positioning themselves at the intersection of longevity science, conscious luxury, and scalable wellness, with the ambition of becoming India’s most trusted and globally respected wellness-hospitality brand.

Salman Khan in talks with Raj & DK for action-comedy, reveal reports

Salman Khan, who is currently occupied with the upcoming war drama Battle of Galwan, is reportedly in discussions with filmmaker duo Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK for a potential new project. While details remain tightly under wraps, industry buzz suggests that the film being discussed is an action-comedy — a genre Salman is expected to revisit after several years.

According to a report by Pinkvilla, the collaboration is still in its early stages, but the prospect itself has generated significant interest. Raj and DK, known for blending sharp humour with stylised action, are said to be keen on mounting a large-scale entertainer if the alignment works out. If finalised, the project would mark Salman Khan’s first-ever association with the director duo, making it a notable collaboration in Bollywood’s commercial space.

A source was quoted telling in these reports, “Salman Khan has heard the basic idea and has shown interest in it. It’s an action-comedy, but it will also present Khan in a slightly different space. However, he is yet to give his final nod to the project.” The source also added, “If everything falls into place and Salman comes on board, the makers are looking to take the film on floors by the end of 2026. At the moment, it’s all about aligning creatively and locking the script.”

Given that discussions are still preliminary, no official announcement is expected until the script and creative vision are fully locked. Both parties are reportedly focused on ensuring the material offers something fresh while staying true to the mass appeal associated with Salman Khan.

On the work front, Salman is gearing up for the release of Battle of Galwan, which is based on the real-life events that unfolded on June 15, 2020, in the Galwan Valley. The film chronicles the clash between Indian and Chinese troops, where around 200 Indian soldiers defended their territory against a force of 1200 Chinese Liberation Army soldiers. Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, the film also stars Chitrangda Singh in a key role and is slated for an April release this year.

Meanwhile, Raj and DK continue to ride high on the success of The Family Man Season 3. The duo is expected to return with the next season soon, which will serve as a continuation of the third instalment, retaining the same characters while amplifying the action and drama quotient.

While fans await official confirmation, the possibility of Salman Khan teaming up with Raj and DK for an action-comedy has already sparked curiosity, promising a blend of mass entertainment and contemporary storytelling if it materialises.

Shraddha Kapoor to start Naagin shoot in April after Eetha wraps: Report

Bollywood actor Shraddha Kapoor is gearing up for a packed and varied year in her film career, with back-to-back projects lined up for 2026. After completing work on the biographical drama Eetha, she is set to begin shooting the much-anticipated fantasy film Naagin in April.

Final Stretch of Eetha Production

Kapoor is currently in the final phase of filming Eetha, directed by Laxman Utekar, in which she portrays legendary Tamasha and Lavani performer Vithabai Narayangaonkar. The role has demanded intense physical preparation and emotional depth, with the actress undergoing months of training.

A production source told Mid-Day: “Shraddha has been deeply invested in Eetha. The role is physically gruelling and emotionally intense, but she is keen to finish the film within the schedule. The makers are confident of wrapping by March.”

The shoot experienced a brief pause after Kapoor sustained an injury during a dance sequence, but insiders say this did not significantly derail the schedule.

Shraddha Kapoor’s Transition to Naagin

Immediately after completing Eetha, Kapoor will switch genres and begin work on Naagin, a high-concept fantasy film slated to go on floors in April 2026. According to the report, the project has been in development for some time, with efforts focused on finalising visual design and casting ahead of principal photography.

The report quoted a production insider saying: “Naagin has been in development for a long time, and the team wanted to get everything right — from the VFX design to the casting. With Shraddha locked in, the rest of the cast has fallen into place. The plan is to start shooting by April.”

The film is expected to explore supernatural and mythological themes, marking a distinct shift from Kapoor’s recent performance-driven role in Eetha.

Farhad Samji switches gears; writes screenplay and dialogues for film adaptation of Safed Khaki; based on police inspector Subhash Shinde and his cricket achievements

Farhad Samji is known for directing mass-appealing and often comical films like Bachchhan Paandey (2022), Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan (2023), Housefull 4 (2019), etc. and writing (along with brother Sajid) memorable films like Singham (2011), Bol Bachchan (2012), Housefull 2 (2012), Chennai Express (2013), etc. However, with his next project, he is all set to switch genres. It has come to light that Farhad has written a film on Senior Inspector Subhash Shinde who contributed to cricket.

The film in question is an adaptation of the book 'Safed Khaki' written by Atharwa Shinde, daughter of Subhash Shinde. In an interview to Mid-Day in November 2025, she revealed that Nishikant Kamat of Mumbai Meri Jaan (2008) and Drishyam (2015) fame was impressed by the story and wanted to make a film at one point. But the project was stalled after his demise in 2020.

But later, Farhad Samji came on board and he, along with Piyush Singh, has now written the screenplay and dialogues. Atharwa told Mid-Day, “I feel immense joy and deep gratitude that Farhad Samji is writing the screenplay and dialogues for my story.”

Moreover, Nitin Ramesh Tendulkar, elder brother of Sachin Tendulkar and a respected lyricist in Marathi cinema, will pen the songs of the film.

About Subhash Shinde

As per the Mid-Day article, Subhash Shinde spent over four decades with the Maharashtra Police, mostly in the Crime Branch. In his younger days, he also trained under the Bombay Cricket Association–Mafatlal Bowling Scheme, which began in 1990. On November 11, 2011, he built a police cricket team from scratch in Navi Mumbai Rural. Few expected much from it, but the team went on to win several tournaments on the MCA (Mumbai Cricket Association) and state circuits, including the Times Shield, Government Shield, DY Patil Tournament, Kanga League, Kurla Bapat Tournament, Thane Vaibhav Tournament, and many other MCA-affiliated office and corporate events.

Jay Bhanushali and Mahhi Vij confirm separation after weeks of rumours: “We choose peace over drama”

After weeks of speculation surrounding their marriage, popular television actors Jay Bhanushali and Mahhi Vij have officially confirmed that they are going their separate ways. The couple, who tied the knot in 2011 and share three children, addressed the ongoing rumours by issuing a detailed and heartfelt note on social media, putting an end to conjecture around their relationship status.

Taking to their Instagram Stories, Jay and Mahhi clarified that while they have decided to part ways as partners, they will continue to remain united as co-parents. Stressing that their decision is rooted in peace, maturity and mutual understanding, the duo urged fans and the media to refrain from attaching negativity or assigning blame to their separation.

“Today, we choose to part ways on a journey called life, yet we continue to have each other's back. Peace, growth, kindness, and humanity have always been our guiding values. For the sake of our children Tara, Khushi, Rajveer, we commit to being the best parents, the best friends, and whatever else it takes to do what is right for them,” read a part of their statement.

They further added, “Though we walk separate paths, there is no villain in this story and no negativity attached to this decision. Before any conclusions are drawn, please know that we choose peace over drama and sanity above all else. We continue to respect one another, support one another, and remain friends, as we always have been. With mutual respect, we ask for your respect, love, and kindness as we move forward.”

Will Junaid Khan-Sai Pallavi’s Mere Raho be pushed from April 24 to July due to Salman Khan-starrer Battle Of Galwan?

Sai Pallavi will have a promising 2026 as she’ll be seen in the highly awaited Ramayana. The VFX-heavy, star-studded film will release in cinemas on Diwali. However, this won’t be her Hindi debut. She’ll be introduced to the Hindi audience with Mere Raho, co-starring Junaid Khan. The film will finally be out in 2026. However, there’s been confusion and uncertainty in the trade about its release date.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Until recently, the makers had locked April 24 as the release date for Mere Raho. They felt that it would be an ideal time for the flick to hit cinemas. But now, there have been reports coming in that Mere Raho will be pushed to July 2026.”

Mid-Day recently reported about the July release of the film. The article carried a quote by a source who said, “July offers better leg room for a film like Mere Raho. It needs time, repeat value, and controlled screen density. The summer corridor allows the film to breathe without the noise that comes with the festive and holiday rush.”

Our source added, “The producer, Aamir Khan Productions, has been very secretive about the release date. It may be released on April 24, or it may not. But since the news of the July release has come to the fore, many have wondered if the film is being pushed due to Battle Of Galwan. The Salman Khan-starrer has been locked for release on April 17. May 1, meanwhile, will see Raja Shivaji and The Devil Wears Prada 2 arriving on the big screen. As a result, the makers may have thought of moving the film to a less-crowded window.”

Aamir Khan Productions’ Happy Patel Khatarnak Jasoos, written and acted by Vir Das, will hit the theatres on January 16. There is hope that Aamir would attach the first look teaser of Mere Raho with the prints of Happy Patel Khatarnak Jasoos.

About Mere Raho

Reportedly, Mere Raho is a remake of the Korean film One Day (2011). The love story was shot during the beautiful Snow Festival in the town of Sapporo, Japan and hence it promises to be a visual treat to the moviegoers. Images of Junaid and Sai in the Far East country got leaked during the Japan schedule, which took place in early 2024. The love story went on floors in December 2023 in Mumbai.

Last year, there were reports that Aamir Khan was planning to release the film on Valentine’s Day 2024. However, he decided to postpone the release after the makers of Junaid’s debut theatrical venture, Loveyapa, decided to bring the romcom on February 7. Mere Raho was then scheduled for a release on December 12 and now it’ll finally arrive in 2026.

Universal Studios invests in Farhan Akhtar’s Excel Entertainment to scale up Indian productions: Report

Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s production powerhouse Excel Entertainment has entered into a strategic partnership with Hollywood giant Universal Studios, signalling a new phase of global collaboration and scale-up for Indian content. Universal Studios has acquired a minority stake in Excel, while the larger share remains with the Indian banner, according to a report by Mid-Day.

What the Partnership Means

Insiders tell Mid-Day that Universal’s minority acquisition is aimed at scaling up Excel’s production capabilities and bringing “big ideas” to life with broader global reach. “Excel wants to expand the scale of its productions going ahead,” shared a source. “There are big ideas in the pipeline.”

Excel Entertainment’s 2025 slate included a diverse mix of films such as 120 Bahadur, Ground Zero, Superboys of Malegaon, and the digital release Songs of Paradise. While these projects garnered critical acclaim, several did not see major box-office success — prompting strategic reassessment and expansion efforts via partnerships like this one.

This collaboration follows a trend of major studios investing in Indian entertainment. Earlier, Adar Poonawalla’s acquisition of a 50% stake in Dharma Productions demonstrated international interest in India’s film powerhouses.

For Akhtar and Sidhwani — whose banner has backed films like Dil Chahta Hai, Don, and acclaimed web series (Inside Edge, Mirzapur) — the Universal tie-up underscores a forward-looking approach to storytelling that blends Indian narratives with global ambitions. The collaboration may also unlock new opportunities for cross-border co-productions and innovative cinematic ventures that appeal to both domestic and international audiences.

Javed Akhtar to take legal action against makers of a fake video showing him embracing Islam: "I won't let it slide"

Writer-thinker-poet-lyricist Javed Akhtar has repeatedly reiterated he is an atheist. Now, a mischievous, hugely damaging video showing Javed Akhtar wearing a cap and embracing Islam has surfaced on the internet.

And Javed saab is not amused. “Who does all this? Yeh log kaun hai (who are these people)? They must be taught a lesson. Religious belief is a very personal matter. It is a private equation between Man and God. It is especially inviolable when one doesn’t have a relationship with God. I don’t. So who are you to make up an equation between me and the Creator?”

Javed saab has taken a decision to take stern legal action against the perpetrators of this unauthorized video. “We often allow such mischief—and that’s a mild word, it’s much more deleterious—to slide from sight. That’s wrong. It only encourages the troublemakers to get bolder. I won’t let it slide.”

Ranveer Singh's debut film, Band Baaja Baaraat, to re-release on January 16, 2026, amid Dhurandhar wave

PVR INOX, in association with Yash Raj Films, will re-release Band Baaja Baaraat on January 16, 2026—15 years after its original release on December 10, 2010. Directed by Maneesh Sharma, the film marked the debut of Ranveer Singh and starred Anushka Sharma in a sparkling story of ambition, love, and friendship, set against the vibrant world of Delhi weddings. Produced by Yash Raj Films, Band Baaja Baaraat went on to become a cultural phenomenon, earning both critical acclaim and immense audience love for its youthful, infectious energy, memorable music, and refreshingly new storytelling.

Band Baaja Baaraat reimagined both romance and friendship by situating its protagonists within the frenetic, lived-in world of Delhi weddings. Deeply rooted in local culture and everyday reality, the film had quietly reset the rules of the modern Bollywood love story. It captured an aspirational, entrepreneurial India—young, ambitious, and unapologetically middle-class—with rare warmth and authenticity. Its cultural impact lay in normalising the idea that love could grow out of partnership, equality, and conflict rather than grand destiny alone, while also turning the Indian wedding from a glossy backdrop into a lived-in social ecosystem. Cinematically, it ushered in a new wave of rom-coms grounded in rooted settings, colloquial dialogue, and flawed characters.

Speaking about the re-release, Niharika Bijli, Lead Strategist, PVR INOX, said, “Band Baaja Baaraat is one of those rare films that never loses its charm. It remains fun and immensely relatable, no matter when—or with whom—you watch it. Re-releasing the film is our way of celebrating modern storytelling that continues to resonate across generations. With its timeless music, sharp humour, and deeply lived-in performances, the film captures the spirit of friendship, love, ambition, and life just as it is. We’re excited to bring it back for a new generation to discover its magic on the big screen."

Director of the film, Maneesh Sharma, said, “Band Baaja Baaraat was born from a very simple idea. I had read a magazine piece about young Indian entrepreneurs, and something stayed with me—people with limited resources still stepping out, taking risks, and trying to build something of their own, even on a small scale. That became the seed of the story. It eventually grew into a film about love, friendship, and ambition—authentic, messy, and deeply rooted in the streets we know. Over the years, the film has found a life of its own with audiences across generations, geographies, and different moments in their lives. I am really looking forward to see people loving our film that was made with a lot of heart again on the big screen.”

The re-release of Band Baaja Baaraat is part of PVR INOX’s ongoing initiative to honour exceptional talents and landmark films from India and around the world. By bringing timeless films back to the big screen, PVR INOX not only revives the magic of great cinema but also creates a rare opportunity—for a new generation to discover these cinematic masterpieces and for the generation that grew up with them to relive their nostalgia and charm.

Audiences can experience the joy, music, romance, and celebration of Band Baaja Baaraat once again at PVR INOX cinemas starting January 16, 2026. Booking details and theatre listings will be available soon on the official PVR INOX app and website.

EXCLUSIVE: In a SHOCKING development, CBFC deletes a WHOPPING 8 minutes of Sydney Sweeney’s frontal nudity scenes in The Housemaid

The year 2026 will begin on a thrilling and erotic note for Indian cinegoers, thanks to the release of The Housemaid. The film released in the West on December 19 and has been appreciated for its subject, twists and turns and performances, especially that of Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried. However, Indian audiences may be disappointed to learn that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has edited out a significant portion of the film’s intimate scenes.

The CBFC awarded The Housemaid an ‘A’ certificate on December 4 after asking for some modifications. The words ‘b***h’, ‘c**t’ and ‘motherf****r’ were muted, as per the recommendations of the Examining Committee. Secondly, the studio partner was asked to delete ‘nudity visuals of women's breasts…whenever it occurs’. As a result, a whopping 8 minutes of screen time have been axed, the longest cut due to censor diktats in recent times.

Bollywood Hungama has learned that a long, intense lovemaking scene involving Sydney Sweeney won’t be available in India. Another similar sequence has also faced cuts. A scene of Amanda Seyfried using a breast pump was also asked to be removed. However, a brief shot showing the buttocks of the male lead, Brandon Sklenar, has been retained.

Despite the cuts, the film’s narrative and erotic nature remain largely unaffected, according to those who saw the censored version. The original run time of The Housemaid was 131.46 minutes, that is, 2 hours, 11 minutes and 46 seconds. After the cuts and inclusion of the anti-smoking ad in the beginning and after the interval, the revised duration of the film in India is 125.46 minutes. In other words, The Housemaid is now 2 hours, 5 minutes and 46 seconds long.

The Housemaid tells the story of a woman on parole who’s desperate to find work. She lands a job as a housemaid at the palatial residence of a wealthy family. All seems well at first, but she slowly realizes that her life could be in danger while working for them.

Spirit first look unveiled: Sandeep Reddy Vanga drops special New Year treat for Prabhas fans

The much-anticipated Pan-India film Spirit, bringing together director Sandeep Reddy Vanga and Prabhas for the first time, has officially kicked off 2026 with a major reveal. As the clock struck midnight welcoming the New Year, the makers unveiled the first look of the film, instantly sending fans into a frenzy and reaffirming the project’s status as one of the most talked-about upcoming releases.

Spirit has been under the spotlight ever since its announcement, largely due to the powerful combination of Prabhas and Vanga, both known for delivering intense, high-impact cinema. The first-look reveal at the turn of the year was a calculated promotional move, and one that Vanga has successfully employed in the past. Ahead of the reveal, the filmmaker teased audiences on social media on December 31 by writing, “People… A few hours more for SPIRIT – First Poster,” sparking widespread excitement and speculation.

Interestingly, this strategy mirrors the promotional approach Vanga used years ago while announcing Animal, starring Ranbir Kapoor. That midnight tease had gone on to create significant online chatter, and with Spirit, the director appears to have recreated the same sense of anticipation—this time on an even bigger, pan-India scale.

The film had already made headlines earlier this year following a casting change that drew considerable attention. Deepika Padukone, who was initially associated with the project, exited the film citing work-hour concerns. Subsequently, Triptii Dimri was brought on board, a move that further intensified curiosity around the film. Spirit marks Triptii’s first collaboration with Prabhas and her second association with Sandeep Reddy Vanga after Animal, making her casting particularly noteworthy.

Apart from Prabhas and Triptii Dimri, the film also stars Vivek Oberoi and Kanchana, among others, adding to its ensemble appeal. Backed by T-Series, Spirit is being mounted on a grand scale, aligning with Vanga’s signature storytelling style and Prabhas’ Pan-India stardom.

With its first look now unveiled and promotional momentum firmly in place, Spirit is shaping up to be one of the most awaited films of 2026, setting the tone for a high-voltage cinematic year ahead.
