Kartik Aaryan surprises Kiara Advani on her birthday, announces the new name of their forthcoming love story

Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani recently enjoyed a massive a success together after playing a couple onscreen in the horror comedy Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. The couple is all set to return to the big screen with yet another film but this will see them in a romantic avatar. Today, on the occasion of Kiara’s birthday we got a glimpse of their next titled Satyaprem Ki Katha.

Kartik Aaryan surprised his co-star Kiara Advani on the day of her birthday by sharing a photo of the two together from their forthcoming film Satyaprem Ki Katha. The film will feature him playing the role of Satyaprem whereas Kiara will be seen as Katha. Going by the look the Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 actor shared it seemed that the duo will be seen in intense romantic avatars in the film. Sharing it on Instagram, the actor captioned it along with a birthday wish for the actress and also revealing the name of their upcoming love story, saying, "Happy Birthday Katha !! Tumhaara SatyaPrem ❤️#SatyapremKiKatha @kiaraaliaadvani ❤️"

Speaking about the film, earlier it was being said that the film was titled Satyanarayan Ki Katha. However, it seems that the title underwent change. The film will mark the collaboration of Kartik Aaryan along with filmmaker Kabir Khan and produced Sajid Nadiadwala. In an earlier report, Bollywood Hungama had quoted a source saying, "Kartik and Sajid have broken the ice while discussing Satyanarayan Ki Katha and are now committed to doing multiple films together. While Satyanaran Ki Katha begins soon, Kartik will kick off the Kabir Khan film for NGE from next year.”

While there have been several rumours of a leading lady doing the rounds, it seems that the makers have finally locked Kiara Advani and needless to say, the onscreen Jodi has created record-breaking success at the box office recently.

Shilpa Shinde is the next contestant roped in for Colors’ dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 10

Just a day ago, we had reported that Amruta Khanvilkar joined the list of contestants of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 10. Now, yet another celebrity who has joined the list of the dance reality show contestants is Shilpa Shinde. While she gained popularity as a TV star, the actress went on to also win the season 11 of Bigg Boss. As for Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, the franchise enjoyed immense success in its past season and will be making a grand comeback to television after a 5-year hiatus.

With filmmaker Karan Johar, timeless beauty Madhuri Dixit Nene returning as judges, joining them would also be the international artist Nora Fatehi who was last seen as the judge of another dance reality show Dance Deewane Juniors on the same channel. Confirming her participation in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 10, Shilpa Shinde said, “Bigg Boss was a milestone in my career, and I hope that Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa will also be a great experience for me. I am really excited to again associate with Colors. My fans eagerly anticipated my return to television after my stint on Bigg Boss, and they are the reason why I am doing this show. I know that they will be excited to see me back on television and what better show to entertain them than Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. I am a non-dancer and performing in front of an audience is something that I am looking forward to. Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa is a dance reality show, inspired by Dancing with the stars, which features eminent celebrities from different walks of life showcasing their best dance moves along with choreographer partners. Showcasing an illustrious panel of judges, the show is expected to feature a star-studded line-up of contestants which includes Paras Kalnawat, Dheeraj Dhoopar, Niti Taylor, Nia Sharma among others. Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa will air soon on Colors channel.

Karan Johar gets accused by Twitterati for taking Alia Bhatt’s name too many times on Koffee With Karan 7 and here’s how he replied

Filmmaker Karan Johar recently became a victim of social media troll for his ongoing show Koffee With Karan 7 that premiered on Disney+Hotstar. The celebrity chat show, that has already come into the radar multiple times owing to its controversial conversations and at times, scandalous revelations, that has often left celebrities in trouble. And this time around, it is the host who is getting trolled for taking the name of his ‘Student Of The Year’ Alia Bhatt many number of times on the show.

After the premiere of the third episode of Koffee With Karan 7 featuring Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday as guests, the netizens took to social media to question Karan Johar about why he takes Alia Bhatt’s name so many times during the show. “If there was a drinking game where we had to take a shot every time Karan mentioned Alia’s name, we’d be drunk by the end of the show #KoffeeWithKaranS7 #KoffeeWithKaran #KoffeeWithKaran7 #KoffeewithKaranSeason7 #KoffeeWithKaranOnHotstar,” commented a twitter user. Besides these, there were some other trolls included about manifesting relationships which the filmmaker often asserted happens on the couch. From Alia Bhatt taking Ranbir Kapoor’s during one of her first appearances on Koffee With Karan to Katrina Kaif talking about Vicky Kaushal, the director-producer maintained that couch is a place where you manifest the thoughts. But a twitter user seems to disagree with it. “Karan Johar needs to stop talking about manifesting relationships. The needle is stuck. #KoffeeWithKaranS7,” said the user. Coming to the show, Koffee With Karan 7 airs on only the OTT Platform Disney+Hotstar at 7pm on Thursdays. While the promo of the next episode is yet to be released, we believe it will feature Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan, who will be attending the show as co-stars of their upcoming release Laal Singh Chaddha.

EXCLUSIVE: Kartik Aaryan reveals details of Freddy being an OTT release; says, “I did the film keeping that in mind”

Kartik Aaryan, who is riding on the success of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, took a break after the record-breaking success of the horror comedy. After returning, he dived into Shehzada, his next most anticipated project which is a remake of the Allu Arjun starrer Ala Vaikuntapurramuloo. But amidst his multiple films, the actor also did an unconventional romance drama titled Freddy with Alaya F and Jeniffer Piccinato, which is expected to have an OTT release. The actor recently revealed exclusively to Bollywood Hungama that not only did he know about this but he has done the film keeping in mind his OTT audience.

Speaking to Bollywood Hungama about Freddy releasing on OTT, Kartik Aaryan said, “Main woh film ki hi isiliye thi.” (Transl: I did that film because it was supposed to release on OTT). The film is said to be a dark romantic thriller about obsession and love. “It’s a nice subject that I am really excited about,” shared the Shehzada actor.

Further speaking about the film, Kartik revealed, “Uska abhi post production chal raha hai. Uske baare mein cheezein abhi dheere dheere bahar aayengi.” (Transl: It is currently in the post production stage. The details of the film will slowly be revealed.) As for the OTT platform, the actor says, it is still in the decision stage. “Let’s see on which platform we will be releasing the film. All of those details are yet to be decided. This is the kind of things that the director and producer will be thinking of,” he concluded.

Directed by Shashanka Ghosh, Kartik Aaryan will be paired alongside Alaya F for the first time for Freddy. Besides this, Kartik Aaryan has Shehzada, Captain India, and Satyanarayan Ki Katha in the pipeline.

Arjun Kanungo set to marry Carla Dennis on August 10!

Singing sensation Arjun Kanungo is all set to tie the knot with long-time fiancé Carla Dennis this August. The wedding is believed to take place as per Hindu traditions, where Carla will pair her bridal outfit with her mother-in-law’s jewellery. Arjun says, “Carla understands Indian weddings and has, in fact, taken over the prep completely. She picked the venues and hired a wedding planner. She also selected my outfits for the wedding. Even though her family is not from India, they too are gung-ho about our traditions and are excitedly working on their Indian wedding attire and prep.” Arjun and Carla also plan to hold a white wedding next year. Arjun shares, “We will be hosting this in April 2023 in the UK. This is for Carla and her near and dear ones.”

While he gears up for two weddings, Arjun didn’t believe in the idea of marriage earlier in his life. “I never thought I would ever get married. Carla changed my life! She’s the reason we are in a successful relationship and are getting married. She never pushed me to get married. Although I knew that she wanted to get married, she had given up as she knew my thoughts. She was okay not getting married as long as we were together and happy. Seeing that Carla was willing to adjust, I thought that if she was willing to compromise for me, why was I being so stubborn?”

Right after the August wedding, the couple will take off for their honeymoon. The destination they have picked has an emotional connect. He shares, “We are planning to go to Japan. It has a special place in our hearts. I remember after three years of being together, our relationship had hit choppy waters. I was going to Japan for work and asked Carla to join me. During our stay there, we fell in love with each other again. Had not Carla joined me in Japan, maybe we would have broken up. That’s the reason we want to go there for our honeymoon.”

The couple has been in a relationship for seven years and has been planning to get married for some time. Their wedding will be a three-day affair in Mumbai in the presence of family and friends. This included a mehndi ceremony on August 9, a wedding ceremony on August 10, and a reception on August 11!

Parineeti Chopra joins Akshay Kumar in Pooja Entertainment’s next based on Jaswant Gill

Recently social media was abuzz when Akshay Kumar’s images from the fields of London and Yorkshire were leaked. A source close to the film had confirmed that Akshay Kumar is shooting for Pooja Entertainments untitled next, based on a real-life hero, Jaswant Gill, and his bravery in a rescue operation at a coal mine. Now we have learnt that Parineeti Chopra has been roped in to play the female lead, opposite the superstar.

She took to social media posting an image of her and Akshay Kumar with the caption “We are back 😊 This time the Kesari duo may be shooting in York, but the laughs, jokes, games and Punjabi gupshup is the same 😊💕🇬🇧” Needless to say, the duo look super cool together in York. The film is the story of chief mining engineer Jaswant Gill, who rescued miners stuck inside the coal mine. We are excited to see this pair come together after so long.

Interestingly, Akshay and Parineeti will be seen together on the big screen after Kesari which was released in 2019.  If that wasn’t enough, ever since Akshay Kumar’s look from the film surfaced, it has been trending on social media. The project is helmed by Tinu Suresh Desai who previously directed Akshay in Rustom and production is done by Pooja Entertainment. Post furore over nude photoshoot Ranveer Singh to maintain a low profile

After the furore over his nude photographs and the flurry of FIRs that has followed, Ranveer Singh has taken a decision to remain low-profile, at least for a while. The decision comes in the aftermath of the uproar over Ranveer’s nudes for a foreign magazine. While Vidya Balan and some other members of the entertainment fraternity have come forward in his support most of the film industry feels the nude pictures were uncalled-for.

Taking the advice of his close friends including Karan Johar and wife Deepika Padukone, Ranveer has decided to lie low for a while. “He has been advised to dress sober, talk less and stop doing his favourite lap dance with everyone in the room,” a close friend of the power couple tells me.

The lap dance, for those who came in late, refers to Ranveer’s proclivity to plonk himself in his friends’ laps and shower them with cheek kisses.

This time Ranveer is listening. The nudes have eroded his equity in the entertainment business. Apparently he may lose some of his endorsement deals. Sanjay Leela Bhansali is also said to be in two minds now about casting Ranveer Singh in his next feature film.

“If anything happens to me, Nana Patekar and Bollywood mafia is responsible”, says Tanushree Dutta in latest Instagram post

Readers would be aware that Tanushree Dutta accused Nana Patekar and some of the other members of the film fraternity of sexually harassing her, kicking off the a series of #MeToo accusations in the industry. The actress, of late, has been posting notes on social media claiming that she is being harassed and targeted by people from B-town and even accused them of being involved in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case.

In a note shared by Tanushree Dutta a day ago, she claimed that if anything happens to her, Nana Patekar and his Bollywood friends will be responsible. She even went on to request her followers and everyone to boycott their films. The actress said in the note, “If anything ever happens to me let it be known that #metoo accused Nana Patekar, his lawyers & accociates & his Bollywood Mafia friends are responsible! Who are Bollywood Mafia?? Same people all whose names came up frequently in SSR death case. ( note that all have same criminal lawyer)”

Popular Gujarati and TV actor Rasik Dave passes away

On Friday, popular TV and Gujarati actor Rasik Dave breathed his last at 8pm in Mumbai. He is survived by his wife and popular actress Ketki Dave, who is known for her role of Daksha in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, as well as their two kids. He, reportedly, passed away due to kidney related issues and has been suffering from the same for the past couple of months.

As per ETimes report, Rasik Dave was on dialysis for the past two years. According to them, his kidney condition had started deteriorating and his condition worsened in the last one month. His last rites are expected to be held on July 30. Popularly known for his character as Nand in B.R. Chopra’s Mahabharat, the actor also has done TV serials. He also gained popularity for playing the patriarch of the Vaishnav family, Karsandas Vaishnav, in the show Sanskaar – Dharohar Apnon Ki.

Speaking about his wife Ketki Dave, the Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi actress, too is known for her work in Gujarati cinema and theatre. The couple is expected to even own a Gujarati theatre company.

Fans of Rasik have taken to social media to express their grief over this heartbreaking news. “Gujarati theatre lost it's charm.. Wellknown Gujarati actor #Rasikdave passed away...Will miss you Rasikbhaai..Om shanti ???????? ???????? ????????”, said one of the fans. Voicing similar thoughts, another fan wrote, “A big loss ????. Gujarati theatre lost its charm ????????????. #RasikDave #RIP #restintheatre.” Some of them even reminisced about his roles in their ‘RIP’ message saying, “Sad to know..fine actor and his role as Nand in #Mahabharat was quite sweet. #RasikDave”

Rajkummar Rao purchases triplex apartment in Juhu for a whopping Rs. 44 cr; pay Rs. 2.19 cr for registration

A little while back it was reported that Ranveer Singh had shelled out a staggering Rs. 119 cr to acquire a sea-view quadruplex apartment in Bandra. Now it is learnt that Rajkummar Rao and Patralekha too have shelled out a whopping Rs.44 cr to acquire a new property. As per reports, Rao and Patralekha have acquired a triplex apartment in Juhu, from none other than Boney Kapoor’s daughter Janhvi Kapoor.

The latter who purchased the property in December 2020, which is spread over 3,456 sq ft, has apparently sold the same to Rao taking the price to nearly Rs.1.27 lakh per sq ft. With this new acquisition, Rao and Patralekha, who currently reside in the same development on the 11^th and 12^th floors, will have an added apartment across the 14^th, 15^th, and 16^th floors. If that was not enough, reports also claim that Rao has shelled out Rs.2.19 crores as registration for the said triplex apartment which comes with exclusive access to six parking slots.

Though there has been no confirmation from either side about the sale and purchase of the premium triplex apartment, the said deal was apparently registered on July 21, 2022.

REVEALED: PVR Cinemas raises ticket prices by up to 23%, as opposed to the usual 5-7% hike in the pre-pandemic times

The exhibition sector suffered enormously in the years 2020 and 2021 due to the Coronavirus-induced lockdown and resulting restrictions. The situation has improved in the last six months but for moviegoers, watching a film in a multiplex has turned out to be an expensive affair. Gautam Dutta, CEO of PVR Cinemas, recently spoke about this aspect and a lot more.

In an interaction with Economic Times, Gautam Dutta said that PVR used to increase ticket rates by 5-7% every year in the pre-pandemic era. For 2 ½ years, the multiplex chain couldn’t do so. Now, they have hiked the ticket prices by up to 23%. He said PVR had to do so to cope with the rising electricity costs, rent and maintenance charges. Interestingly, the ticket price increase helped the company post its best ever quarterly revenues of Rs. 1000 crore plus in Q1 of FY 2022-23. The footfalls in their cinemas are 87% of pre-2020 times and India’s largest multiplex chain expects it to grow and reach the pre-pandemic levels soon.

According to this article, PVR reported losses amounting to Rs. 748 crores in FY 2020-21 and Rs. 488 crores in FY 2021-22, on account of restrictions on cinema halls.

Advertising also forms an important part of their revenue model. As per the data provided by Gautam Dutta, about 11% of the company’s revenue used to come from advertising before the Covid pandemic. The number dipped in the pandemic period and at present, it is at 68% of the pre-Covid levels. As per Gautam, PVR expects to reach the pre-Covid figure in Q3 of FY 2023. He also said that they aim to revolutionize in-cinema advertising. For certain ads, they plan to light up the sidewalls of the multiplex screen. He also said that they play close to 16-18 minutes of advertising in each show in PVR.

Finally, Gautam Dutta spoke of PVR’s expansion plans. According to Dutta, before the pandemic, the chain used to open 80-90 new screens on average in a year. In 2022-23, they plan to open 100-110 screens. Some of these screens will be in seven such cities where PVR had had no property before. They also plan to spend Rs. 400 crores on redeveloping existing theatres.

Koffee With Karan 7: Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday confess going on a ‘friendly’ date during the shoot of Liger

Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday are coming together for the first time in Liger, that is directed by Puri Jagannadh. Considering it is produced by Dharma Productions, the two were recently seen attending Koffee With Karan 7 which also marked Vijay’s debut on the show. Amidst hot and brewing conversations, while Vijay spoke about his co-star Ananya Panday, the actress revealed that they also went on a date. Karan Johar, however, was quick to ask if it was during her relationship with Ishaan Khatter.

During the show, when Vijay Deverakonda was discussing about his co-star Ananya Panday, he revealed that she is a great co-star but not somebody you would want to be with when you are doing a film which requires you to diet. He said, “I find her really cute. I laugh a lot around her and she learns quickly. She did a really good job on Liger. She is a big foodie. So when you are doing a film like Liger which requires you to be in shape, she is not like the ideal co-star to have around. When my breakfast was like black coffee and 5 egg whites, she would end up having croissant or a pain au chocolat with her coffee. And I was like are you eating this everyday?”

As Vijay continued to talk about Ananya’s food love, the latter quipped, “We went out on dinner and we ate properly okay!” Needless to say, Karan Johar interrupted asking if it was a date. Vijay responded saying, “We went out on one date”. While a surprised Ananya asked if it was date, her Liger co-star continued, “You looked pretty and I dressed up. So it was kinda like a date.” Ananya agreed adding, “Yes we dressed up and we were very excited about it.”

However, Karan, being himself, further prodded the actress asking if she went on out on a date with Vijay when she was already going out with Ishaan? Although Ananya didn’t speak about Ishaan, she revealed that it was a ‘friendly date’. In fact, her Liger co-star, who seems to be equally in sync, agreed that it was a friendly date. When Karan Johar further added, “Just clearing because cross wires, blurred lines,” Vijay clarified it by adding, “the lines are very clear.”

Although, as per Ananya’s statement on the show, she is the person who will kiss and tell, it seems that when it came to her personal life she was not only discreet but also refrained from commenting on it.

Taron Egerton to play TSA agent in thriller Carry On for Netflix

Netflix and Amblin Partners announced that they have set Carry On as the first film to be produced as part of the deal announced between the two companies last year. Dylan Clark Productions will produce the film. Taron Egerton, the actor from Black Bird, Rocketman, Kingsman, is set to star in the lead role.

Helmed by Jungle Cruise director Jaume Collet-Serra, the thriller centers around Ethan Kopek, a young TSA agent who gets blackmailed by a mysterious traveler to let a dangerous package slip through security and onto a Christmas Day flight.

The film will be penned by TJ Fixman, with additional writing by Michael Green.

Koffee With Karan 7: Vijay Deverakonda breaks silence over relationship with Pushpa star Rashmika Mandana; says, “She is a darling and I am really fond of her”

The popular chat show Koffee With Karan hosted by none other than filmmaker Karan Johar returned a few weeks back with its seventh season. While Karan himself was pretty kicked about resuming the show, this time on OTT, the audience too were eagerly awaiting the release of the new episodes. After featuring Akshay Kumar – Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Sara Ali Khan – Janhvi Kapoor, and Ranveer Singh – Alia Bhatt, the latest episode of Koffee With Karan 7 featured the South breakout star Vijay Deverakonda and his Liger co-star Ananya Panday. Between the two the episode featured everything from stoic responses to over-the-top entertainment. But what caught our attention was Vijay talking about Pushpa: The Rise actor Rashmika Mandana and the relationship he shares with her.

It came as no surprise when Karan Johar grilled Vijay about their relationship, especially since the two (Vijay and Rashmika) have been spotted together on multiple occasions. Responding to the query, Deverakonda managed to keep things under wraps saying, "We have done two films together at a really early stage in my life. She is a darling and I am really fond of her. We are really good friends. We share so much through films, lots of highs and lows. A bond gets created."

Continuing further Karan prodded Vijay on his secretive attitude towards relationships. Replying to Karan the Liger actor added, “I will say it out loud; until then I would not like to hurt anyone who adores me. Shawn Mendes cancels all world tour dates to prioritize his mental health: “I need to take the time I’ve never taken personally”

Singer-songwriter Shawn Mendes has pulled the rest of his world tour, cancelling dates in North America and Europe to focus on his mental health. The pop singer previously postponed concert dates for the same reason.

“As you guys know, I had to postpone the past few weeks of shows since I wasn’t totally prepared for the toll that being back on the road would take on me,” he shared in social media posts. “I started this tour excited to finally get back to playing live after a long break due to the pandemic, but the reality is I was not at all ready for how difficult touring would be after this time away.”

“After speaking more with my team and working with an incredible group of health professionals, it has become more clear that I need to take the time I’ve never taken personally, to ground myself and come back stronger. I unfortunately have to cancel the rest of the tour dates in North America, and the UK / Europe.”

“We were hopeful that I might be able to pick up with the rest of the dates after some much needed time off, but at this time I have to put my health as my first priority,” he continues. “This doesn’t mean I won’t be making new music, and I can’t wait to see you on tour in the future.” The first date for the rescheduled (and now canceled) tour was this Sunday in his home base of Toronto.

“I know you all have been waiting so long to see these shows, and it breaks my heart to tell you this but I promise I will be back as soon as I’ve taken the right time to heal. I love you all and thank you all so much for supporting me and sticking by me on this journey.”

Mendes had so far played seven of the 87 shows he had scheduled across the US and Europe. The announcement comes after the singer announced earlier this month, he was cancelling some dates of the tour in order to "heal and take care of myself and my mental health."

Shawn Mendes released his fourth studio album, Wonder, in December 2020. His most recent single, ‘It’ll Be Okay,’ dropped in December 2021. He is also the star of the upcoming animated musical film Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile, which is set to release on October 7.

Sanjay Dutt comes out in support of Karan Malhotra; says ‘Shamshera is ours’ in a heartfelt note

The ambitious YRF – Karan Malhotra collaboration, Shamshera opened to low scores at the box office leaving the cast and crew of the film dejected. Despite the anticipation of Sanjay Dutt, Ranbir Kapoor, Vaani Kapoor coming together for the first time, the film struggled to get a good box office opening. Owing to all these factors, a day ago, director Karan Malhotra took to social media to pen a heartfelt note where he apologized for abandoning film because of all the hatred and rage it received. Now, a day later, actor Sanjay Dutt, who played Shuddh Singh in the film, has penned another letter in support of the filmmaker.

In his letter, Sanjay Dutt spoke about the response Shamshera received saying, “Films are acts of passion – passion to tell a story, to bring to loife characters you’ve never met before. Shamshera is one such labour of love to which we gave our all. It’s a movie made up of blood, sweat and tears. It’s a dream that we brought on screen. Movies are made for audiences to relish. And every movie finds its viewers, sooner or later.”

He went on to add, “Shamshera found a lot of people hating on it; some of the hate came from people who didn’t even watch it. I find it horrible that people don’t respect the hard work we all put in. I admire Karan as a filmmaker and mostly as a person. He is one of the best directors I have worked with in my long career for four decades. He has the knack of giving characters that strike a chord. We did that with Agneepath, where he gave me Kancha Cheena to play. The process of working on it was brilliant. He trusted me again with Shamshera and what a ball of a time we had making this film and bringing to life Shuddh Singh.”

Speaking of Shamshera, the film is historical drama with Sanjay Dutt playing the antagonist, Ranbir Kapoor as the protagonist in a double role whereas Vaani Kapoor plays Ranbir’s character Balli’s love interest. The film released on July 22 in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.

Hansal Mehta to direct Applause Entertainment’s Gandhi

Applause Entertainment, a venture of Aditya Birla Group recently announced a monumental biopic on the life and times of Mahatma Gandhi. Based on the writings of notable historian and author, Ramachandra Guha, the series will be adapted from his two books ‘Gandhi before India’ and ‘Gandhi-The Years that Changed the World’. With Pratik Gandhi headlining the multi-season series, Applause Entertainment announces Hansal Mehta as the director and showrunner of the upcoming project.

After the success of Scam 1992, the acclaimed filmmaker and Applause Entertainment have come together again to bring to life this epic saga. Set in the period of the Indian Independence struggle, Applause will produce “Gandhi” at an international standard for a global audience and film it extensively across several Indian and foreign locations.

Sameer Nair said, “The story of Mahatma Gandhi is more than just the story of a great individual; it is also the story of the birth of a nation and many other dramatis personae, who along with Gandhi, gained freedom for India. Filmmaker Karan Johar is back on the coffee couch! Season 7 of Koffee With Karan which premiered earlier in July on Disney+ Hotstar. Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani co-stars Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, Janhvi Kapoor-Sara Ali Khan and Akshay Kumar-Samantha Ruth Prabhu have already appeared on the new season. Speaking to Bollywood Hungama prior to the premiere of Koffee With Karan 7, Karan quickly touched upon the ongoing topic of how he has now become the “Sima Taparia” (famous Indian matchmaker) to many in the industry, who is bringing people together.

“They made me sound like I am some wedding planner or a matchmaker,” Karan jokingly said. “It’s literally like they made me into Sima Taparia, bringing people together. I am like these are all friends. And yes, I connect with the younger lot for my own selfish reasons because I feel that they give me an insight, from their lifestyle and what they wear, what they listen to, how they speak, how they handle their relationships, it’s always giving me ideas.”

In a way, in the past seasons, Sara Ali Khan mentioned she would like to date Kartik Aaryan and eventually dated him during the filming of Love Aaj Kal. Katrina Kaif had said that she and Vicky Kaushal would look good together and they eventually ended up marrying each other last year in December.

On the professional front, Karan Johar returns to direction with Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. The film stars Alia Bhatt, Ranveer Singh, Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan and Shabana Azmi. He will also direct an action film which will begin production in April 2023.

Janhvi Kapoor says Boney Kapoor has only one condition for her potential groom; says, 'he doesn’t care about anything else

Janhvi Kapoor, who recently created quite the stir on the episode of Koffee With Karan 7, is currently promoting her forthcoming OTT film Good Luck Jerry.  And yet again when her marriage was discussed during an interview with Siddharth Kannan, the actress had some interesting revelations to make. In the same, she stated that her father Boney Kapoor had only one condition for her potential groom and it is definitely not we expected.

Boney Kapoor has been quite protective of his daughters Janhvi and Khushi Kapoor. Recently when she was asked about marriage, she, revealed that her father had only one condition. She said, “Papa has this thing. He doesn't care anything else, he was just like 'He should just be as tall as me' and papa is 6'1”.”

She went on to add, “As a kid, he used to tell me and Khushi - before you get married, I want to make sure that you can go and tell your husband that my father has made me travel all around the world before I even got married to you. He didn't want to leave any stone unturned. But now I realise that he did that because he wanted to make sure that the person that we marry lives up to how giving he's been with me and Khushi.” Although it was a clichéd father statement, it does show how every daughter is a father’s princess isn’t it?

Talking about Good Luck Jerry, the film also stars Deepak Dobriyal, Mita Vashisht, Neeraj Sood, among others. Directed by Sidharth Sengupta, the black comedy will premiere on July 29 on Disney+ Hotstar. The film is the official Hindi remake of the Tamil film Kolamaavu Kokila featuring Nayanthara in the lead role.

Karan Johar defends terming Samantha Ruth Prabhu as No. 1 star; says, “No offence to Nayanthara fans”

Fans of Tamil superstar Nayanthara have taken huge umbrage to Karan Johar insisting on Koffee With Karan that Samantha Ruth Prabhu and not Nayanthara is the no.1 star, even when Samantha insisted the crown belonged to Nayanthara.

Karan Johar clarified that he meant no offense to Nayanthara. “I said, according to the list that I had from Ormax, Samantha was the no.1 star. Nayanthara’s fans have misconstrued the conversation.”

That is not all that a section of Koffee viewers have misconstrued. Samantha’s tongue-in-cheek sarcastic “confession” that she paid Ormax to list her as the No.1 heroine has triggered off stories in a section of the press on the amount she paid for the honour.

“I think we all need to have a sense of humour. Mine is a fun show,” says Karan.

Kim Go Eun starrer Yumi’s Cells makers to take a break; respond to season 3 exceptations

The production team of hit TVING show Yumi’s Cells, starring Kim Go Eun, GOT7 member Jinyoung, and Ahn Bo Hyun, has responded to fans’ high expectations for another season. The show recently concluded its season 2 last week with an open and emotional ending.

As Soompi notes, Yumi’s Cells is a fantasy romance drama based on the popular webtoon of the same name. It tells the story of an ordinary office worker named Yumi, from the point of view of the many brain cells in her head controlling her every thought, feeling, and action. Kim Go Eun plays the titular role of Yumi, an ordinary woman who struggles with expressing her feelings.

The first season of Yumi’s Cells, aired in autumn 2021, became the first K-drama ever to combine live action and 3D animation. As the report shares, on July 26, a source from the drama stated, “We’re thankful that viewers have expectations for season 3 as much as they have loved season 1 and 2. The second season has just ended, and the seasons require long production time, so the production team needs to take a break first. Season 3 will be discussed after that.”

Rs. 25 crore budget for Bawaal's 10 day action shoot; Varun Dhawan's most expensive film so far

Sajid Nadiadwala’s highly anticipated Bawaal is currently being shot in Warsaw, Poland with Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor. Bawaal would be one of Varun Dhawan's highest budget film from production value.

A source close to the makers revealed, “We’ve extensively shot the film in the most expensive & interesting locations like Paris, Berlin, Poland, Amsterdam, Krakow, Warsaw along with a brief portion in India as well. It’s a very unique love story and now we are gearing up for a huge action sequence in Warsaw. We have called for action directors & stuntmen from Germany along with a talented crew of 700+ members every day, Nitesh Sir and Sajid Sir have scaled up the film to leave the audience to a visual treat.

The source further added, “An action sequence as planned required multiple things such as 45 plus hedgehogs along with innumerable number of grenades, knives, and variety of explosives for an important action sequence which will be shot from tomorrow. The costs incurred for shooting daily is about 2.5 crore and this is a 10 days schedule. This is Varun's most expensive film so far.” says the source.

Bawaal is produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, under the banner of Nadiadwala Grandson and is co-produced by EarthSky Pictures. The film is directed by Nitesh Tiwari and will hit screens on 7th April, 2023.

The much awaited film, Ek Villain Returns, is all set to release this Friday, July 29, and a lot of expectations are riding on it. The stylized, action-packed and sensual trailer has made the audiences curious. Moreover, it’s the sequel to the super-hit Ek Villain (2014). The medium-budget film was a surprise at the box office, crossing the Rs. 100 crores mark. Its chartbuster music is memorable even today. It is also remembered as it had a landmark performance by Riteish Deshmukh. The actor is known for playing positive and comic characters. In Ek Villain, he stunned audiences as he played a ruthless serial killer.

Ek Villain Returns has a different cast and has often been called a ‘spiritual successor’ of the first part. However, Bollywood Hungama has learnt that Riteish Deshmukh features in the second part as well. We also chanced upon his look in the film. A source told Bollywood Hungama, “A few people would wonder how Sameer Mahadkar came back from the dead. Didn’t he die in the first part? Well, the makers simply showed Sameer being hit by a car in the climax of Ek Villain. Did they show him breathing his last? Hence, the makers are completely justified in showing that Sameer survived and is alive and kicking. Whether or not he contributes to the murders in the sequel remains to be seen.”

Like the first part, Ek Villain Returns is also directed by Mohit Suri. Besides Riteish Deshmukh, Ek Villain also starred Sidharth Malhotra and Shraddha Kapoor. Meanwhile, Ek Villain Returns stars John Abraham, Arjun Kapoor, Disha Patani and Tara Sutaria in lead roles.

Aditya Dhar & Jio Studios at loggerheads over Vicky Kaushal in The Immortal Ashwatthama

Just before the pandemic, Ronnie Screwvala announced that he would be making a modern-day superhero film, The Immortal Ashwatthama bringing back the URI team of Aditya Dhar and Vicky Kaushal. In the pandemic, he backed out of the project due to budget issues and ever since then, Aditya Dhar has been making an attempt to revive the film with a new producer. He finally got Jio Studios on board the film, who green lit the script with a budget of Rs. 225 crores.

However, in the latest development, Jio and Aditya Dhar are at loggerheads over casting of the film. "The initial male lead of The Immortal Ashwatthama was Vicky Kaushal. Jio felt that a film of this budget won't recover with the aforementioned cast. They requested Adi to bring in a fresh set of male and female lead, following which, Aditya Dhar narrated the script to Samantha, who agreed in principle to be a part of the film as female lead," revealed a source to Bollywood Hungama.

Just when Aditya thought the issue was resolved came another problem. "The heads at Jio didn't have an issue with the female lead, but the male lead. They felt investing Rs. 225 crores on Vicky Kaushal is a very risky proposition making recovery near impossible. They have been after Aditya to bring in a bigger star for the film or else part ways. Aditya on the other hand is sticking to his friend, Vicky Kaushal. who has already done months of hard work for the role of Ashwathhama," the source further told us.

As things stand today, Jio is clear to back off if Aditya doesn't change the cast. "In today's time, when films are failing left right and center, budget is the most important thing and that has to be decided not just based on power of the script but also audience pull of the actors. A final call will be taken within a month on the future prospect of The Immortal Ashwatthama."

While Jio is taking a financial decision, Dhar is thinking from its heart. Between heart and brain, it would be interesting to see, who wins!

In a press conference conducted in Hyderabad, Aamir Khan, Chiranjeevi & Naga Chaitanya interacted with the media about the upcoming release. Aamir said that the delay in post-production of the film saved them considering they averted clash with KGF: Chapter 2 starring Yash in the lead role.

“I remember when KGF 2 was about to release, there was a lot of excitement among the Hindi audience, amongst my own friends. Laal Singh Chaddha was supposed to release on that day. But fortunately for us, Red Chillies was taking a little time on the VFX so we got saved! Otherwise, we would have come with KGF 2,” Aamir Khan told reporters.

Karan Johar rubbishes reports of Akshay Kumar - Samantha Ruth Prabhu project

The entertainment portals were flying high last week with reports—false, as they turned out to be—of Karan Johar signing on Akshay Kumar and Samantha Parbhu for a mythological film.

However, when I touched base with Karan Johar, he dismissed the rumour as rubbish. “I am directing Sam and Akshay? That is news to me,” said Karan. It all started after watching the resounding chemistry between Akshay and Samantha on Koffee With Karan. Fans of the two stars began speculating about the possibility of a partnership between the pair in a Karan Johar film.

EXCLUSIVE: Huma Qureshi, Mrunal Thakur to star in Dinesh Vijan's next production Pooja Meri Jaan

Huma Qureshi is set to reunite with Dinesh Vijan. The actress will star in Maddock Films' next production Pooja Meri Jaan. With the announcement, July has exciting things in store for Huma Qureshi. This marks her second collaboration with Dinesh Vijan after Badlapur. The film will be directed by Navjot Gulati and co-directed by Vipasha Arvind. The actress is looking forward to this month as she celebrates her birthday on July 28.

Huma tweeted the announcement on Tuesday, "Andddd Birthday week just got better ;-) #PoojaMeriJaan! ???? It’s a film wrap !!! Been shooting for this one all this while … and been super excited!! This one is a veryyyy important film & I am extremely proud to be associated with it. Can't wait for you to see it!"

In an announcement video filled with thrilling intrigue, we see a “not so innocent” proposal dedicated to Pooja, where an admirer gives her the choice to either say yes, or see him become history! What happens next? What will Pooja do? The Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik production leaves us guessing right till the very end!

Boasting of a stellar star cast that features Huma Qureshi, Mrunal Thakur, Vikram Singh Chauhan and Vijay Raaz the film has now wrapped shoot. The film has been directed by Navjot Gulati, co-directed by Vipasha Arvind and written by Kanishka & Navjot Gulati.

The teaser of Maharani season 2 was out earlier this month and there is lot of buzz and excitement for the new season. "It’s a working birthday for me and I love it. Honestly, I’ve worked throughout this last year and I am really grateful for that. Looking forward to keep being busier and happier, " says Huma Qureshi.

Katrina Kaif and Vicky Kaushal's stalker arrested; has been harassing her for a long time

Bollywood couple Katrina Kaif and Vicky Kaushal recently returned to Mumbai after ringing in the actress’ first birthday post marriage in Maldives with their friends. It was reported recently that a complaint was lodged at Mumbai’s Santacruz police station after the couple received death threats. The stalker has been arrested. But, new updates reveal that the story was exaggerated.

As per a report in a media portal Hindustan Times, an insider said that it is not as serious as it was being reported. There was a stalker who showed up time to time unannounced and has been harassing Katrina Kaif for a really long time. The police was notified and a complaint was filed, accordingly. Manjunath Singhe, the deputy commissioner of police (zone 9), confirmed that the arrest was made and the investigation is in process.

On the work front, Katrina Kaif will next be seen in the film PhoneBhoot with Ishaan Khatter and Siddhant Chaturvedi. She will also star in Sriram Raghavan's Merry Christmas with Vijay Sethupathi, Radhika Sarathkumar which is set for December 23 release. The actress will reunite with Salman Khan on Tiger 3, which also stars Emraan Hashmi. The actress will also star in Jee Le Zaraa, helmed by Farhan Akhtar, co-starring Priyanka Chopra and Alia Bhatt.

On  the other hand, Vicky Kaushal has the biopic Sam Bahadur, helmed by Meghna Gulzar and stars Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Sana Shaikh. He will next star in Shashank Khaitan's Govinda Mera Naam with Bhumi Pednekar, and Kiara Advani, Laxman Utekar’s untitled next with Sara Ali Khan and a film with Tripti Dimri in the pipeline.
