Kamalrukh has two children with Wajid- a 16-year-old daughter and a nine-year-old son. After the post, she spoke to a daily about the trauma she went through in her 17-years of marriage. Kamalrukh revealed that she now has to fight for her children's due inheritance as Wajid's family has usurped his assets post his death. She further said that she has been working as a clinical hypnotherapist but their primary source of income has been Wajid's marital support. She added that this support is being snatched away by those who did not keep in touch with her or the kids in the past 7-8 years. Kamalrukh said that no woman should face what she has faced during these 17 years of marriage.

Kamalrukh further elaborated on the scare tactics used to pressurise her. She said that Wajid's family insisted that their children and their marriage was illegitimate as they did not get marred as per Muslim law. She said that apart from being disrespectful towards her, Wajid's mother has openly asked him to re-marry which he refused to. She said that Wajid’s refusal to budge on his belief or adopt a different point of view and his family's interference ensured that he never stood in her favour. She revealed that another scare tactic was divorce if she did not convert. However, they never got divorce as Wajid realised his folly.

After It’s My Life, Anees Bazmee’s Naam, starring Ajay Devgn, to also get a release

The Coronvirus-induced lockdown and the subsequent closure of theatres for many months led to many films releasing directly on OTT platforms. In the midst, Anees Bazmee’s ten year old film It’s My Life stood out. Instead of releasing on a streaming platform, it premiered on satellite yesterday, on Zee Cinema. Produced by Boney Kapoor and Sanjay Kapoor, it starred Harman Baweja and Genelia Deshmukh and was an official remake of the 2006 hit Telugu film, Bommarillu.

After It’s My Life, Anees Bazmee’s Naam, starring Ajay Devgn, to also get a release

And now another film of Anees Bazmee, which has been stuck since ages, is all set to be revived. Naam, starring Ajay Devgn, Sameera Reddy and Bhumika Chawla, is now being readied for release. In an interview to an entertainment portal, Anees Bazmee revealed that it might release on an OTT platform or like It’s My Life, it might directly release on television. He also promised viewers that the suspense thriller has one of the best performances of Ajay Devgn.

When contacted, Anees Bazmee confirmed that it’s true and added, “The producer has said Naam is releasing soon. I don’t have any more details on this.”

Naam was shot around 2004, two years after Deewangee (2002), which was suspense flick starring Ajay Devgn (along with Urmila Matondkar and Akshaye Khanna) and directed by Anees Bazmee, released. There were talks of this film releasing in cinemas in 2013 but it didn’t materialize. It was initially titled Benaam and later changed to Naam. Priyanka Chopra was earlier signed for this role but due to some issues, she was replaced by Sameera Reddy. The film was edited by Shirish Kunder and Himesh Reshammiya had composed the music. Incidentally, its producer is Dinesh Patel who gave a break to Ajay Devgn in Phool Aur Kaante (1991). The producer later made the 1995 flick Saajan Ki Baahon Mein, starring Rishi Kapoor, Raveena Tandon and Tabu followed by Naam.

Interestingly, last year, Anees Bazmee had tweeted an on-the-sets image of Naam. It featured Anees and a bespectacled Ajay shooting for the film in a snowy region. The filmmaker had tweeted his wish as well that he hopes that this film releases and that audiences get a chance to see it. It looks like his wish is finally going to come true.

Chetan Hansraj roped in to play the antagonist in Pearl V Puri starrer Brahmarakshas 2

After presenting three interesting fiction properties in the festive month of October and captivating its audience with stories that capture the pulse of the Indian middle class, Zee TV now takes its audience on a trip of fantasy. The channel very recently launched the second season of its immensely successful and intriguing weekend thriller, Brahmarakshas. Produced by Balaji Telefilms, the show premiered its first episode on 22nd November with television actress Nikki Sharma essaying the lead character of Kalindi opposite popular actor Pearl V. Puri playing the role of Angad. Having made quite an intriguing start, the show is all set to make an exciting and captivating revelation on this Sunday.

Chetan Hansraj roped in to play the antagonist in Zee TV’s Brahmarakshas 2

While the initial episodes have introduced viewers to leading lady Kalindi’s battle against an evil force that seems to be lurking around her, there has been much speculation around the true identity and the human form that this Brahmarakshas will assume. In an exciting turn of events, viewers will find out in the latest episode of the show that the Brahmarakshas is none other than the character Vardhan Chaudhry played by the multi-talented television superstar Chetan Hansraj.

Out of the many negative characters essayed by Chetan, this role seems to be one of his most challenging yet exciting characters to portray. Talking about his love for this genre and what intrigued him to take up this character, Chetan said "The genre of supernatural shows itself has always been my favourite. When I first heard the story, I was instantly hooked, and I felt it had the perfect mix of thrill and drama that are required to complete a show of this kind. This is the best werewolf story we could have right now on Indian television. I am really looking forward to portraying this character because it is something very different from what I have essayed earlier and it brings its own set of challenges. Moreover, I am returning to Zee TV after nearly four to five years and I am glad to be a part of the family once again”.

The actor’s character has a rather ferocious avatar which takes Chetan nearly four hours to step in and out of the look. Talking about his look, Chetan said. “It takes minimum 4 hours and a team of four to five exceptionally skilful people to set the heavy prosthetics on my face. Shooting in the costume, that includes performing various action sequences comes as a big challenge by itself but none of this takes away from the interest and fascination that I have for this role. “While it might be quite a tough process, transforming from Vardhan into Brahmarakshas and back into Vardhan is actually the most exciting part of this character.”

The identity of the Brahmarakshas might be out in the open, but what does Vardhan turn into the Brahmarakshas and why is he after Kalindi?

REVEALED: Here's the real reason why Bollywood stars are heading to Maldives and posting holiday pictures

Of late there has been a virtual exodus into the azure paradise of the Maldives. Journalist Barkha Dutta has even criticized the trend of stars posting pictures of their Maldives visit. A prominent young actor laughingly sets the matter of meditating in the Maldives by spilling the beans. “But they’ve to post the pictures of their activities in the Maldives. It is part of the deal.” He tells me.

REVEALED: Here's the real reason why Bollywood stars are heading to Maldives and posting holiday pictures

What deal? I ask curiously.

“The package deal for this Maldives vacations. The stars are being lured into free vacations on condition that they post pictures of their experiences,” the actor informs, adding that he refused the tempting offer as it seems a little vulgar to be splashing in the lap of luxury at a time when there is a worldwide panic over a pandemic.

Going by the number of Bollywood stars who have vacationed in the Maldives during the past couple of years, the oceanic paradise, the breath-taking beauty spot, has indeed transformed into the no 1 touristic attraction on the globe.

Why just Bollywoodians? Even Priyanka Chopra’s brother-in-law Joe Jonas took his newly-married wife British actress Sophie Turner to the azure haven in the Maldives for their honeymoon. Priyanka Chopra a frequent flyer to Maldives is whispered to have got her bro-in-law an all-expenses paid honeymoon. The trip, it is rumoured, was in-house as long as Joe and Sophie let the world know they had a ball in Maldives.

If truth be told, it doesn’t take much for a celebrity to win all-expenses paid vacation to the Maldives. All he or she has to do in return is let the world know there is no better place to unwind. And in many ways, that is not a false endorsement. The Maldives is a stunningly scenic and serene place to vacation.

Richa Chadha starrer Shakeela, based on the spunky South superstar, set for Christmas 2020 release in theatres

The film that chronicles the life of soft-core sensation, Shakeela, is all set for a big-screen multi-lingual release on Christmas. This announcement put to rest months of speculation surrounding the release of the film. The first poster of Shakeela starring Richa Chadha met with a lot of excitement.

Richa Chadha starrer Shakeela, based on the spunky South superstar, set for Christmas 2020 release in theatres

The latest poster of the film that launches today features Richa in a glamorous avatar. Draped in a saree and with a gun in her hand, she pays the perfect ode to the South siren. In the background, there are allusions to her epithet of a box office queen, along with obscene words related to her body, religious affiliation, and skin colour. The poster is a testament to the fact that Richa conveys Shakeela's attitude and style with a rare spunk and vivacity. It also communicates that it is no dirty picture and explores Shakeela’s world beyond her erotic image and stardom.

Inspired by a shocking true story about the life of superstar Shakeela, the film traces her journey - filled with hurdles and discrimination – from playing side characters to becoming the face of B-grade films and eventually reaching the pinnacle of glory. Soon, she began threatening the stardom of the biggest superstars of that era in the South film industry.

Born in a conservative Muslim family, Shakeela began her career at the age of 16. Having worked in about 250 films, she emerged as an adult star who ruled the South film industries in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

Talking about the film, director Indrajit Lankesh says, “Shakeela is my passion project. I have known her since 2003 when I worked with her. Her rags-to-riches story caught my attention. I did some extensive personal interviews with her and came to know so much about the person that she is behind that image of a star. And I knew that it is only Richa who can nail the part. This film will help youngsters who aspire to be part of the film industry understand that there is more to the overlying glitz and glamour.”

Shakeela also stars Pankaj Tripathi and Malayalam actor, Rajeev Pillai. The film is presented and produced by Sammys Magic Cinema Motion Picture Production and distributed by UFO. It is slated for a Christmas release.

The budget of Sardar & Grandson is of Rs. 30 crores, costing more than Kiara Advani starrer Indoo Ki Jawani. The makers of the film have apparently finalized the deal with Netflix as it gives a better chance at the return of investment to the producers, Nikkhil Advani, John Abraham, and Bhushan Kumar. The trio have joined hands together for the film and have already received a fixed amount that eliminates the losses they might incur in theatres.

Sardar & Grandson also stars Aditi Rao Hydari and John Abraham in special appearances and is directed by debutant director Kaashvie Nair. The movie is said to be revolving around the love and the bond between two different eras.

Manish Goel to enter Juhi Parmar starrer Hamariwali Good News

Zee TV recently presented a heart-warming story that captures the essence of the ever-evolving dynamics of the saas-bahu relationship in Indian society. Titled Hamariwali Good News, it showcases a unique role reversal between the daughter-in-law Navya (Srishti Jain) and her mother-in-law Renuka (Juhi Parmar) to give their family the much awaited ‘Good News.’ Versatile actress Juhi Parmar plays the role of Renuka in the show, who is the mother-in-law and the lifeline of the Tiwari family. Shakti Anand, on the other hand, is seen essaying the pivotal character of Mukund, who is Renuka’s husband and Navya’s father-in-law. A grocery shop owner, known for being a miser, he follows the motto of, 'Jaisa chal raha hai badiya hai, what is the need for change?’

Manish Goel to enter Juhi Parmar starrer Hamariwali Good News

We’ve seen how Renuka and Mukund have been distant from each other and while we’ve seen the duo clash and argue like every couple, recently Renuka was trying to make an attempt to get closer to Mukund once again. However, it looks like a new character is all set to take their arguments to a whole new level. Manish Goel is all set to enter as Dr. Raghav in Hamariwali Good News and it is his past equation with Renuka that will take the Tiwaris by storm.

Apparently, Raghav and Renuka were in love and he was going to ask for her hand in marriage. However, Mukund’s rishta came in before he could make his move and the rest is history. While her husband was initially unaware, he came to know after 7 - 8 years of marriage and since then his relationship with Renuka has never been the same. Mukund felt that he has been betrayed and has been suspicious of her ever since. When Raghav and Renuka bump into one another after so many years, how will Mukund react? And what will Raghav do after meeting Renuka? Well, the audience is in for a treat as a lot of twists and turns are set to play out in the next few episodes.

Talking about his entry into the show, Manish Goel mentioned, “When I was told about the concept of this show, I was immediately hooked. Hamariwali Good News has a novel and unique story and having been associated with several interesting shows, I could not give this one a miss. While I have worked in several shows, this one is quite different and so is my role. I will be playing Doctor Raghav and the role indeed comes with its own set of responsibilities and I hope I’m able to live up to that. As an actor, the role is really fantastic as Raghav has several layers to him and while some will associate with his emotions, others will hate him for creating havoc in Mukund and Renuka’s life, especially since they have just begun to see a glimmer of hope about them getting close once again.  I’m sure I’ll get a lot of opportunities to play around and demonstrate my acting prowess with this show and I hope I can keep the audience at the edge of their seats with my entry.”

With Raghav all set to enter Hamariwali Good News and create chaos in Renuka and Mukund’s life, the audience will surely want to know what will happen next in the Tiwari parivaar.

From replacing chiya and deleting fk CBFC deletes suggestive dialogues and actions from Kiara Advani starrer Indoo Ki Jawani
The first dialogue being, “Apne ghode ko astabal mein thodi rakhunga”, that went along with a lewd gesture has been deleted from the film. There was a scene where Satish is seen with his hands in his pants, but that has been replaced with a scene where he’s seen with a hand on his phone. Along with deleting the dialogues, there have been convenient changes made in the script. A dialogue that says, “Ab toh Supreme Court ne bhi…till…legal hai” has been replaced with, “Arre main bol raha hoon na tujhe hum cheating kar sakte hai”.

Another dialogue that says, “Crime against women jitna tumhaare capital…till…fraud ho tumlog” has been deleted as is replaced with, “Crime against women aaj kal jitna ho raha hai na uska koi jawab nahi hai tumhare paas…tolerant ke naam par fraud ho tumlog.”

Coming to the curse words, the use of word h*rami has been deleted, along with h*ramzade and is replaced with aatankwadi. The word ch*tiya has been replaced with gadha and the word f*ck has been muted wherever it has occurred.

Bombay HC quashes BMC’s demolition notice to Kangana Ranaut; asks actress to maintain restrain on public platforms

In a huge relief for Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut, the Bombay High Court on Thursday set aside the demolition order passed by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on September 9 directing demolition of alleged alterations carried at her Bandra office.

Bombay HC quashes BMC’s demolition notice to Kangana Ranaut; asks actress to maintain restrain on public platforms

The case was being heard by the division bench of Justices SJ Kathawalla and RI Chagla, who said that Ranaut is allowed to make the bungalow habitable. However, it also said that the extent of the demolished position requires planning permission from the BMC.

The Court also asked to appoint a valuer to determine the compensation payable to the actress for the demolition of her property, which is to be submitted before the court in March 2021.

The BMC had alleged that Ranaut had unauthorized constructions in her Mumbai office, a portion of which was razed. However, the court denied any unauthorized construction. “The BMC order actuated by legal malice. There is material in pleadings that smacks of a malfide and was done to cause substantial losses. We would be perfectly justified to order compensation against respondents,” the bench said while comparing photographs of the premises.

“We do not accept allegations made by the petitioner in view of the alleged atmosphere in the state of the film industry. The petitioner is suggested to maintain restrain on public platforms. Irresponsible statements made by the citizens are best ignored,” the bench stated.

“Whatever be her statements, no action can lie except within four corners of law. Manner in which action was carried out leaves hardly any doubt that it was against the law and sinister. BMC has done it with disregard to the rights of the citizen,” the bench added.

Amitabh Bachchan, Neerja Birla converse on mental health

Suno Dekho Kaho is the noble campaign to deal with mental illness. And the extremely perceptive revealing and engaging conversation on mental health between mega-star Amitabh Bachchan and eminent philanthropist Neera Birla, now out on YouTube, is a part of Neerja Birla’s endeavour to create awareness on mental illness through her organization MPower.

Amitabh Bachchan, Neerja Birla converse on mental health

In the outstanding 33-minute conversation, the two powerful celebrities with voices that carry weight discuss nearly every aspect of mental health including the impact it has on the physical and mental health of the caregiver and the stigma attached to mental health and how it can be eliminated. Mr Bachchan suggests a graceful word for mental illness such as ‘Vikaalta’ or ‘Adheer’. Uncannily, though this conversation was recorded before Sushant Singh Rajput’s demise, Mr Bachchan talks about how drugs and alcohol could be a smokescreen for acute depression.

Taking cognizance of the rising issues surrounding mental wellness in the country, Mpower Founder and Chairperson Mrs Neerja Birla and Bollywood Icon Shri Amitabh Bachchan have come together to address these concerns. In the freewheeling conversation, which was released as a video on Mpower’s YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram pages, the two leaders touched upon the harsh realities of mental health, the challenges people face because of it, and steps society can take to handle the situation with compassion. In order to give viewers valid responses, the conversation elucidated the differences between irrational fears and anxiety, and how one should handle the former, before it prevents them from carrying out routine tasks.

Mrs. Birla and Mr. Bachchan spoke about the importance of education, in helping identify, and understand the symptoms of mental illness. From school children to corporate professionals, from artists to politicians, it is never easy to understand what one might be going through, beneath the surface. The conversation approached the topic by talking about the stigma associated with ‘opening up’, and stressed upon the heightened need for awareness, especially among those who are prone to physical and substance abuse, leading to deteriorating mental health.

As the conversation progressed, they also sought to dispel common myths around mental health, the most pertinent being that it is unaffordable, which prevents people from seeking the help that they need. Mrs. Birla spoke about how, over the course of Mpower’s journey, they have counselled a wide cross section of society, so as to not deny anyone the chance to live with respect and dignity.

Speaking about the association with Mr. Bachchan, Mrs. Neerja Birla, Founder & Chairperson, Mpower, said, “Mr. Bachchan has been long associated with creating awareness on a variety of health issues that we Indians need to combat in our lives. Hence, we approached him if he could lend his support to amplify the conversations on a taboo topic like mental health. He graciously agreed to the cause. We are happy to collaborate with Mr. Bachchan for this campaign, which decodes the importance of mental well-being. It’s an honour to have a legend like him to discuss a topic which is sensitive and deep-rooted concern in our society. A powerful voice like his will help us highlight the issue of mental

health, which is the need of the hour. Amidst the challenging and competitive era that we are living in, it is extremely important to discuss mental health and bring it to the spotlight. With #SunoDekhoKaho, we aim to educate the citizens and make them aware of accessibility of mental health services in India. We truly hope with Mr. Bachchan addressing a wider audience through this communication, we will gradually be able to eliminate the stigma associated with mental health.”

"We are shooting in God's own country" - Priyadarshan

Kangana Ranaut’s place of birth Himachal Pradesh has completely mesmerized filmmaker Priyadarshan. Shooting in Himachal Pradesh for Hungama 2 with Meezan Jaffrey, Shilpa Shetty, Paresh Rawal and others Priyan sighs, “I’ve shot in some of the most beautiful spots of earth. But none to compare with Himachal. It is by far the most beautiful place I’ve seen. I want to come back here for every film I direct.”

"We are shooting in God's own country" - Priyadarshan

Priyadarshan says we must learn to respect our own culture. “Here in Himachal Pradesh I’ve discovered the most stunning locations, far more picturesque than anything in Switzerland or France. No mountains on earth can rival the majesty of the Himalayas. We must learn to value our own culture and heritage. Stop worshipping the West as the best.”

Priyan strongly recommends that we stop shooting in the West. “It is an unnecessary waste of resources and foreign exchange. India has some of the most camera-friendly locations and landscapes in the world. Why do we need to waste so much money time and energy travelling and shooting in foreign countries when we have it all here?”

Amitabh Bachchan will feature in a full length role in Prabhas and Deepika Padukone starrer film

While refusing to divulge details on the character that the Amitabh Bachchan will play in the Prabhas and Deepika Padukone starrer, the film’s producer Priyanka Dutta revealed to me that the Big B’s role would be no cameo.

Amitabh Bachchan will feature in a full length role in Prabhas and Deepika Padukone starrer film

“He is playing a full-length character, like Prabhas,” the producer asserts. She also reveals that the film will be in four languages: Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam. Finding a voice to match the Big B’s baritone in the three South Indian languages is going to be problematic.

About the Big B’s character in the film, Ms Dutta says they are not revealing anything about any of the characters at the moment. But a source close to the project reveals to this writer that the plot will be set in contemporary times. “There will be plenty of action scenes for all the three protagonists, Bachchan Saab, Prabhas and Deepika,” reveals the source.

Lata Mangeshkar for the first time the truth behind her slow poisoning

The virtual space is filled with stories of how India’s resident Nightingale was attempted to be poisoned in her prime. “It is true,” she reveals for the first time. “We Mangeshkars don’t talk about it, as it was a terrible phase in our life. The year was 1963. I began to feel very weak, and could barely get up from my bed. It came to a point where I couldn’t move on my own.”

Lata Mangeshkar for the first time the truth behind her slow poisoning

Is it true that the doctors said Lataji may never be able to sing again? “Not true. This is a myth created around my slow poisoning. No doctor told me I won’t be able to sing. In fact our family doctor Dr R P Kapoor, who cured me, said he was determined to see me back on my feet. But let me clear the misunderstanding propagated over the years, I didn’t lose my voice.”

Thanks to Dr Kapoor’s treatment Lataji slowly recovered. “It was confirmed that I was being poisoned slowly. Dr Kapoor’s treatment and my own determination pulled me through. After being bedridden for three months I was ready to record again.”

The composer who got to record first with Lataji after her illness was Hemant Kumar. Recalls Lataji, “Hemantda came home to take my mother’s permission for the recording. He promised my mother that if I showed any signs of strain he would bring me back home immediately. Luckily the recording went well. I had not lost my voice.” The song which Lataji recorded for Hemant Kumar was ‘Kahin Deep Jale Kahin Dil’ in Bees Saal Baad. It won her a Filmfare award.

Her voice brims with emotion when she recalls the poet-lyricist Majrooh Sultanpuri’s contribution to her recovery during that trying period of her life. “Majrooh Saab came home every evening and sat at my bedside regaling me with poetry and anecdotes. His days were full with work and he barely got time to get some sleep. But he came every day during my illness, even ate the simple bland dinner that was made for me, and kept me company. I don’t think I’d have been able to make it through that terrible period if it wasn’t for Majrooh Saab.”

Did they find out who had tried to poison Lataji? “Yes, we found out who it was. But we didn’t take action because we had no proof against that person,” Lataji says softly before lapsing into silence probably wondering what impels human beings to such extremes of cruelty.

The movie also features two Bollywood names, Ajay Devgn and Alia Bhatt, whose presence is expected to draw audiences in the Hindi belt. Bollywood Hungama has now discovered that SS Rajamouli has got another Bollywood name on board, thereby making the project even hotter.

SCOOP: After Ajay Devgn, Aamir Khan joins Jr. NTR and Ram Charan's RRR directed by SS Rajamouli

“Aamir Khan has verbally agreed to give a voice-over all through the film to narrate the era and also introduce audiences to the world of Jr. NTR and Ram Charan. His voice over will be used not just in the film, but also in the trailer, thereby giving it a pan-Indian reach as far as Hindi belt is concerned. With Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt and Aamir Khan, it has just become a AAA project with 3 Bollywood A-Lister alongside south giants,” a source said.

Aamir Khan has been keen to make Mahabharata since last 10 years and has been in talks with SS Rajamouli and his father, KV Vijayendra Prasad to develop a screenplay and bring the epic to the big screen. Bombay HC dismisses plea to probe Disha Salian’s death; says any information regarding the death can be submitted to the police

The Bombay High Court on Thursday dismissed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed to probe the 'unnatural death' of celebrity manager Disha Salian. The court said that if anyone has any information of a cognizable offence regarding the death then he or she may submit it to the police under the Criminal Procedure Code provisions under section 38 and 39.

Bombay HC dismisses plea to probe Disha Salian’s death; says any information regarding the death can be submitted to the police

The PIL was filed by Puneet Dhanda and his counsel Vineet Dhanda who represented him said that Salian died on June 8 and a few days later on June 14 Sushant Singh Rajput died. The counsel said that both the deaths were unnatural and claimed that media reports raised questions over the cause of her death.

Dhanda also said that the police only registered an accidental death report. The court asked him if he had submitted any information regarding the death after the police issued a press note seeking any information from the public. Dhanda responded in negative and said that “the petition is with them”. To this the court said "that will not do".

The court further said that if there is any foul play then the family members can approach the authorities. The court further said, “he is himself not sure of his locus standi given such circumstances we see no reason to entertain this PIL petition.’’

Earlier, in October the Supreme Court had refused to entertain a plea for a court monitored CBI probe in Disha Salina's death. The Court had given Dhanda the liberty to approach the HC.

Vir Das' lockdown special Inside Out to premiere on Netflix worldwide on December 16

Intended to collect funds for charity, the 50-minute long showreel pieced together from 30 virtual live shows he did during the lockdown, drives home the most crucial of the lockdown - it's the only time the entire world is going through the same thing at the same time.

Having released it independently on his website for charity in August, Das now returns to home turf Netflix. Speaking about his special, he said, "I never planned to put another comedy special out this year. But since when does 2020 care about our plans? We started 2020 together on Netflix, let's end this crazy year together too. The charity special was conceived and executed as an experiment. The response was humbling and overwhelming. The proceeds we raised were a testament to the fact that there's enough kindness in the world for survival. With the show now releasing worldwide, I hope that more and more people take in the learnings of this lockdown. In the face of a global tragedy, the all-encompassing human spirit binds us together. And that's what the special really spoke about. I am so happy that Netflix will be reaching this show to people in more than 200 countries. I am a Netflix guy and they loved the content, which is so assuring for me as a content creator. Their support has always been there and that has truly given me the confidence to go out there and do better work.”

Sunny Deol to produce family film with Bobby Deol

If sources are to be believed Sunny Deol is planning a family film with his brother Bobby and son Karan which Sunny will produce and direct under the family banner Vijeta Films.

Sunny Deol to produce family film with Bobby Deol

It may be noted that Sunny’s son Karan’s career did not take off after his debut film Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas, released in September 2019 and refused to set the box office on flame. Sunny has since then been looking for a script that would accommodate not just his son Karan but also Sunny’s brother Bobby who has not been very lucky at the box office in recent years.

Bobby’s debut on the digital platform with the recent Class Of 83 has not been well received. He also appears to be a misfit as a fake godman in Prakash Jha’s forthcoming web series Aashram.

It’s time for the family to step in to salvage Bobby’s career.

As the film industry is getting back on its feet after a hiatus, many actors have hit the ground running and begun working in a full-fledged fashion. The young actor is clearly on a roll with a choc-o-bloc schedule. Producer Sajid Nadiadwala recently roped the actor in to play the female lead in Heropanti 2 where she will be seen sharing screen space with Tiger Shroff once again after her debut project, Student Of The Year 2.

“The jury saw the merits in Jallikattu to make it to Oscars”, says Rahul Rawail on the Oscar selection

The stunning Malayalam film Jallikattu has been selected as India’s official entry into the International film category in the Oscars. Visually lush and emotionally jolting Jallikattu is in many ways representative of an aspect of cultural annihilation that Indian cinema seldom celebrates.

“The jury saw the merits in Jallikattu to make it to Oscars”, says Rahul Rawail on the Oscar selection (1)

Rawail Rawail who headed the jury of the Film Federation of India for the selection, says, “After viewing many films in many Indian languages we found Jallikattu to satisfy all the requirements for eligibility. It is a film with deep roots in our culture. But it is also a universal story on the dehumanization of mankind, when the beast within surfaces. In that sense it’s story that connects with every culture. It’s also technically very sophisticated.”

Would Rahul agree with this writer in saying that some of the best films in India are coming from Kerala?

Avoiding any controversy Rahul quickly replies. “Of course Kerala is making wonderful films. But so are many other parts of the country including Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Assam. I see a diversity of films being made all over India, and it’s a heartening scenario.”

I draw attention to the awful films that were up for eligibility as India’s entry to the Oscars this year, like Shoojit Sircar’s Gulabo Sitabo. Rahul is quick to point out that any and every film is entitled to the jury’s consideration.

“Any filmmaker can send his film for consideration. It is their right to do so. We are within our rights to select the film we think most worthy. And this year it was Lijo Jose Pellissery’s Jallikattu.”

Every year India comes back empty-handed from the Oscars. Last year it was Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy. Rahul is hopeful about this year. “We of the jury saw the merits in Jallikattu to make it to Oscars. The rest will depend on what the competition is.”

Kriti Sanon to have a packed slate in 2021

Kriti Sanon to have a packed slate in 2021 (1)

A source close to the actress recently revealed that Kriti is currently keeping super busy reading scripts and has as many as 7 ventures being offered to her. The source added, "Kriti is keeping really busy with the shoot of her next film in Chandigarh. After breaking new grounds with films like Bareilly Ki Barfi,  Luka Chuppi and Housefull 4, she has in no time become a director's favourite and has been offered some really exciting projects. Post staying at home all these months due to the pandemic, she's all set to roll with around 5 projects slated in 2021."

SCOOP: Rajkumar Hirani and Kanika Dhillon reworking on the SECOND HALF of Shah Rukh Khan's next?

Bollywood Hungama has been providing exclusive updates on Shah Rukh Khan for the last few months, keeping a close eye on the stuff that he is planning to chalk a comeback in the film industry after a relatively dry run at the box-office. We also revealed how SRK has started shooting for YRF’s Pathan without much of a fanfare and the film will release during the Diwali 2020 weekend. Bollywood Hungama has now exclusively learnt the reason why the superstars’ next film with Rajkumar Hirani is taking longer than expected.

SCOOP: Rajkumar Hirani and Kanika Dhillon reworking on the SECOND HALF of Shah Rukh Khan's next?

“Rajkumar Hirani and his writing partner, Kanika Dhillon, have been working on the script and after writing down multiple drafts, they felt that the second half isn’t really on par with their expectations. And hence, they have gone back to the drawing board, rewriting the entire second half of the film,” a source told Bollywood Hungama, adding further that this is not a reason to worry, rather the pattern of how Rajkumar Hirani works. “He takes his own time to lock the script and would take a film on floors only when he is 100% satisfied with what’s written on paper. Hirani isn’t someone who would rush on to the things just to finish and release a film, as for him direction is a matter of passion and not just a money minting exercise. The script should hopefully be locked by summer 2021 and only then will he proceed to other aspects of pre-production,” the source further told Bollywood Hungama.

Apart from Raju Hirani and Pathan, Shah Rukh Khan has also shown keen interest in director Atlee’s action packed thriller, which features him in a double role. However, he will take a final call on his next after Pathan by mid-2021 based on his state of mind, once he reads both the scripts.

Varun Badola’s father veteran actor Vishwa Mohan Badola has passed away at the age of 84 and the actor has taken to his social media to pen a heartfelt note. Currently being seen in Mere Dad Ki Dulhan, Varun Badola, in an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Hungama had recalled how he played cricket for the first time at the age of four. While the loss of a closed one is too much to deal with, 2020 has been really difficult for most of us.

Varun Badola’s father veteran actor Vishwa Mohan Badola passes away at 84, the actor pens an emotional note

Honouring his father, Varun Badola wrote, “A lot of people crib about the fact that their kids do not listen to them. Many forget that kids are always watching them. My father never sat me down to teach me anything. He made learning a way of life for me. He set an example so exemplary that I had no choice but... follow. If you think that I am a good actor, blame him. If I write, he has to take the onus. If I sing... well if I had just about 1/10th of his singing talent, I would have become a singer. I left Delhi and came to Mumbai because his name was too big in that city to counter. I protested that people judge me, they unduly favour me because I am your son. He promptly told me to go and find my own identity some place else if I thought his name was a hinderance. He told me to always operate out of my comfort zone. He made me a MAN. Not many know that he was a journalist by profession. A master on South East Asian affairs. Travelled the world twice over. He did more than 400 hundred plays for AIR. He was an actor par excellence. When he sang, time stopped. Make no mistake, THIS MAN WAS A LEGEND. But for me, he was my father. A father who was always watching and always listening. So ladies and gentlemen The Man, The Legend, The Phenomenon has called it a day. But his legacy will stay on forever in various forms. Mr. Vishwa Mohan Badola 1936 – 2020”.

Take a look at his post.

Rest in peace, Vishwa Mohan Badola.
