Aamir Khan - Kareena Kapoor starrer Laal Singh Chaddha goes on floors
After being in talks for several months, Aamir Khan's passion project Laal Singh Chaddha has finally gone on floors. The film is an official adaptation of the Hollywood film Forrest Gump starring Tom Hanks. Laal Singh Chaddha also features actor Kareena Kapoor Khan. Recently, it was announced that Aamir Khan's mother Zeenath Hussain will be giving the first clap as the film is close to the actor's heart. A lot has been said about Aamir Khan's preparations for his role in the movie and he is even undergoing physical changes to better fit his character, the actor will be gaining a whopping 20 kgs. Also, the actor is growing his beard to keep the Punjabi look intact and will be sporting a turban in some parts of the film to look the part. In the film, Aamir Khan’s Sardarji character will view Indian history from the time of the Partition. Reportedly, the film will travel into the sensitive areas of Indian history including Operation Bluestar and the demolition of the Babri Masjid Written by Atul Kulkarni, the film is helmed by Advait Chandan and will be produced by Viacom18 Studios and Aamir Khan Productions. Sanya feels that director Anurag Basu's spontaneity and his dynamic approach has helped her break down certain kind of walls that may have pre-existed. Speaking about working with him, she averses that it's been a riot shooting with him. "I really like this process as you have no idea where you are going with your character, or what scene you are going to shoot (on a particular day). It was wonderful for me because I love improvising with sir. This way in every scene we attempted something new and interesting. He told me, ' Kuch prep karke mat aana' because he knows I love prepping. He told me not to do any rehearsals, and to just come to the sets. He is amazing at his job."
Sanya exudes a certain level of self-worth and confidence. She believes in seeping through the skin of the character and retaining the crux of it by relating it with the audiences. Work-wise, Sanya is all elated to play Anupama Banerjee in her upcoming project Shakuntala Devi, where she will be seen sharing screen space with Vidya Balan. But she is too strong to be affected by what he has to say and she brings about a change in him. And then I am doing something similar in Bala, where I am playing a dark-skinned girl. Irrfan Khan starrer Madaari to release in China
Of late, China has been proving to be a promising market for Bollywood films. After films like Dangal and Secret Superstar proving to be a success in China, Irrfan Khan starrer Madaari is gearing up to be released in the country. Madaari is the story of a man who lost his son due to the negligence of the government. He seeks revenge and kidnaps the ten-year-old son of the home minister, forcing the administration to meet his demands. This will be Irrfan Khan’s second film to hit the theatre. Nishikant Kamat's venture also stars Jimmy Shergill, who says Madaari highlights the weak nodes of our society. Talking to a daily, he said that he is really excited about its release in China. Chinese theatres are showing interest in Bollywood films and its good for our film. The release date of Madaari in China, however, is yet to be officially announced. Bollywood actor Anushka Sharma took to Twitter to break her silence, shortly after veteran cricketer Farokh Engineer claimed that the selectors of the Indian cricket team served her tea. Anushka, who is often seen cheering for husband Virat Kohli and the Men in Blue, has often been at the receiving end of trolls and criticism. Her statement, on Twitter, rubbishes rumours and baseless virtual bullies at length. "My name was used for false stories to make it look like the board was being bothered for my tickets or security, etc when in reality I bought my own tickets for matches and flights and I still kept quiet," Anushka wrote, clarifying that she paid for her own ticket for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 held in England.
She also clammed at Engineer for misreporting facts. "The latest version of these ill intended lies is that I was being served tea by selectors at matches during the World Cup! I came to one game during the World Cup and sat in the family box and not the selectors box as reported but when has the truth mattered when it's about convenience," reads her statement. the 82-year-old cricketer, who referred to the present selection committee as a 'mickey mouse' selection committee, stated that Virat had major impact on the committee's decision. Anushka, in her statement, also said she'd not her name be used in such conversations. "If you want to have a comment on the selection committee and their qualifications please do so as it's your opinion but don't drag my name into it to substantiate your claim or sensationalise your opinion. Nowadays, the trailer of biggies usually arrives a month or 40 days before release. But for Dabangg 3, Salman Khan went the old school way and released the promo on October 23, almost two months before the film’s release, scheduled for December 20. And even here, he held simultaneous events in various cities and gave a treat to his fans. So next, he wants the film’s music to grow. Hence he decided to launch the audio of each and every song in the film. So every three days, starting from today, the Dabangg 3 team would drop a track. Hence, by mid-November, viewers will be able to listen to the complete album. This is a rarity in today’s times, when the jukebox is not out a week or even a few days before release. Tiger Shroff leaves for Serbia to shoot for Baaghi 3
Producer Sajid Nadiadwala is done with the heat and dust of Housefull 4. He now flies off to Serbia with director Ahmed Khan and leading man Tiger Shroff to shoot action scenes for Baaghi 3.Baaghi 3 would be the first Hindi film to be shot in Serbia. The point, we hear, is to shoot the kind of action scenes Tiger has never done before. For this purpose, the script needed rugged unexplored locations. Says Sajid, “We zeroed-in on Serbia for its freshness and virility, also because we are being provided with all support and co-operation by the country.” Apparently, it is a very big deal for the Serbian government to have such a big production house from Bollywood shooting in their country. All precautions have been taken to ensure Tiger’s security. Says Sajid, “He has a massive fan following in every country. Now after War he is a rage in every corner of the world.” The crew leaves on Wednesday for Serbia and hopes to complete major chunks of the shooting in record time. Says Sajid, “The best part of shooting abroad is there are no distractions. Like a good father accompanying his child to boarding school, I’m just going to settle the crew in Serbia and come back to Mumbai after four days.”

Arjun Mathur And Tannishtha Chatterjee to headline Anshuman Jha's directorial debut
While he is best known for his choice of evolved work on stage and cinema as an actor, Anshuman Jha is all set to make an exception to his repertoire by turning director with a black comedy thriller titled Lord Curzon Ki Haveli. The film is written by the writer of Chauranga - Bikas Mishra who won the Best Film at MAMI 2014 and Jha was a part of the cast. The new film is expected to go on floors in the UK in January and Arjun Mathur and Tannishtha Chatterjee have been signed as one of the two principal couples in the film. Arjun has been riding high the success of his web show Made In Heaven, directed by Zoya Akhtar and this will be the next feature film that he has signed since the series. A source close to the development informs, “The film is a dark comedy inside a house that involves two couples & a Pizza Delivery Boy. Arjun and Tannishtha have been roped in to play two of the central characters, the remaining two are yet to be locked. Being an actor himself, Anshuman has a distinct vision for the characters & understands the importance of solid actors to tell his story. And both Arjun and Tannishtha fit the parts to perfection. While both of them have a certain innocence about them, they could both pass as perfect examples of anti-casting as a pair for the said role." "Since the plot is novel, the makers want to keep the highlight points in wraps. He is also in talks with two other critically and commercially acclaimed actors for the remaining two leads. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2: Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani to kick off UK and Rajasthan schedules in January 2020
Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani kickstarted their film, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 which is set to be the sequel to Akshay Kumar starrer in the month of October. The actors seemed to have Rajasthani look in the Anees Bazmee directorial. In January, they will be moving to Rajasthan and UK for a three-month schedule. Anees Bazmee was in Rajasthan last week for the recee. They plan to shoot at real locations in London and Rajasthan. But, for the Mumbai schedule, a set will be constructed. During their outdoor schedule which will be three months long starting from January 2020, they will shoot the two songs - 'Hare Ram Hare Ram' and 'Ami Je Tomar'. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Murad Khetani and Krishan Kumar under the banner of T-Series and Cine1 Studios. Directed by Anees Bazmee, the film is written by Farhad Samji and Aakash Kaushik. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 is scheduled to release on July 31st, 2020.

Rajkummar Rao reveals how his parents reacted to the nude scene in his debut film Love, Sex Aur Dhokha
Actor Rajkummar Rao made his acting debut in Bollywood in Dibakar Banerjee’s film Love, Sex Aur Dhokha in the year 2010. The actor in a recent interview with Neha Dhupia revealed that the toughest thing he has done is to reveal to his parents that he would have to do a nude scene in the film. When Dibakar Banerjee told Rajkummar that he will have to do a nude scene, he was okay with it considering that it was his job. However, he knew that he would have to inform his parents and family. The actor said that his parents were very cool and he just had to tell them and not even ask. They expressed shock at first, but when Rao said that his back will be exposed, they came to terms with it. Rajkummar has also shot nude scenes for Shahid and Omerta. Apart from this, Rajkummar shared funny anecdotes from his childhood on the chat show. He revealed that he was a "fully filmi kid". Keeping this in mind, the director of John's upcoming film Mumbai Saga gifted him an all-black limited edition Isuzu Dmax V-Cross pick-up truck as a token of appreciation. The vehicle is said to be priced at Rs 30 lakhs. Director Sanjay Gupta while speaking to a media house said that he has not seen a person who is more enthusiastic about cars and bikes as John is. He said that John has an impressive fleet of cars and bikes. He bought him a pick-up truck after he noticed that it was missing from his collection. Talking about John's reaction after seeing the truck, he said that the actor was shocked when he saw it parked on the premise. In 2013, John Abraham has gifted a superbike to Sanjay Gupta forgiving him defining the film in Shootout at Wadala. Mumbai Saga marks the third collaboration with the actor after Zinda and Shootout at Wadala. The makers have completed shooting a major chunk of the film. The film also features Emraan Hashmi. Talking about John's character, Gupta said that he will be sporting four different looks in the film and will be sporting a muscular look for the next schedule of the film. Ayushmann Khurrana and Amitabh Bachchan starrer Gulabo Sitabo to release on THIS date
Shoojit Sircar’s much-awaited family comedy Gulabo Sitabo will now release on an early date. The film starring Amitabh Bachchan and Ayushmann Khurrana will now release on February 28, 2020. Set in Lucknow, a historic city with a unique cultural identity, Gulabo Sitabo is about landlords and tenants, and their timeless love-hate relationship. It portrays the quarrels that a domineering landlord often has with a submissive tenant, leading to hilarious situations. Amitabh Bachchan, sporting a prosthetically created unusual look plays the rambunctious landlord here, and Ayushmann the tenant. Ayushmann Khurrana wrapped up the shoot of the film in just 22 days. This is the first time Ayushmann will be seen sharing the screen with Amitabh Bachchan in a film directed by Shoojit Sircar, who also directed his debut film Vicky Donor. EXCLUSIVE: Saif Ali Khan starrer Jawaani Jaaneman release postponed; to release next year!
Earlier we had reported that Saif Ali Khan will be seen playing a dad in his 40s to debutant Alaia Furniturewala in Jawaani Jaaneman. In fact, we had told you that the film’s plot revolves around Saif’s relationship with his daughter and that the film would also feature Tabu in a pivotal role. Now we hear that Jawaani Jaaneman that was already shot and slated to release on November 29 with Jackky Baghnani and Jay Shewakramani as their producers has been postponed. If what we hear is true, then apparently, the release of Jawaani Jaaneman has been pushed to next year due to reasons unknown. Revealing details on the same a source close to the project said, “The director needs to shoot a promotional song for the film with Saif that also require him to don a particular look. However, Saif is currently shooting for his next web series Tandav and has a packed schedule. Because of this the movie has been pushed from Nov 29.” The source could not disclose further details and hence, we will have to wait to see what the makers decide. Shreyas Talpade announces his next directorial venture titled SarCar Ki Seva Mein
After the success of Poster Boys with Deol brothers, Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol, Shreyas Talpade is back with his second directorial venture SarCar ki Seva Mein! Inspired from a real-life incident, the film is a roller coaster laugh riot journey with a deep-rooted social message which makes the film relevant and topical in contemporary times. Set in a small town in UP the actor/director will finish the film in one schedule. “It’s a logistical challenge to shoot most part of the film on the streets of small-town India but an honest story like this can’t be told in any other way," feels Shreyas. Shah Rukh Khan rescues Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's manager during an unfortunate fire incident

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's longtime manager Archana Sadanand escaped a fire accident during the Diwali party and was rescued by Shah Rukh Khan. The manager's lehenga caught fire due to a diya. While others were stunned, it was quick thinking by SRK who helped put out the fire with a jacket. While Archana Sadanand suffered 15 percent burn injuries, SRK too had minor injuries.
As of now, Archana Sadanand is recuperating in Nanavati Hospital. She has been kept in ICU to avoid infections. She was admitted at the wee hours on Monday and sustained 15 percent of injuries. As of now she is recovering but is kept in isolation to avoid any kind of infection. The local police recorded her statement where she admitted it was an unfortunate incident.

While many assumed Devgn had given his nod to playing the title role in Baiju Bawra, apparently that was not the case. We had earlier reported that he had okayed Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi opposite Alia Bhatt. Now, we have come to know that Bhansali has offered the role of Baiju Bawra to his favourite Ranveer Singh and Tansen’s role to Ajay Devgn which he reportedly turned down. SLB will direct BaijuBawra after he completes the Alia Bhatt starrer Gangubhai Kathiawadi. Says a source, “While Gangubai Kathiawadi is more of a dark emotional, action drama of the world of brothels, crime, dons and rich men who visit the world of brothels, Baiju Bawra is a pure musical and a dramatized version of the story of the uniquely talented singer Baiju Bawra. It’s to Bhansali’s credit that he is choosing to direct two projects in stark contrast to the other. And the filmmaker has offered the lead and title role of the young Baiju Bawra to Ranveer Singh. Who else can play the passionate, emotional, deeply vengeful and yet intensely romantic Baiju, than Ranveer? SLB and Ranveer have definitely met and the filmmaker has offered the young actor the role of Baiju Bawra. The movie won’t start before next year and by then Ranveer would have completed his other films.” The source adds, “Baiju Bawra is about a young and extremely talented dhrupad singer-composer by the same name, who challenged composer, musician and Hindustani classical vocalist Tansen, to a singing duel, to avenge the death of his musician father, at the court of Mughal Emperor Akbar. When Tansen's sentries tries to stop Baiju's father from singing, and he dies in the struggle, he makes the young Baiju promise to take revenge against Tansen. If Ranveer gives his nod to the movie, it will be again another challenging role for him as he will need some training and knowledge as a singer and musician. Priyanka holds an edge as she’s an internationally acclaimed singer in her own right.” There are various versions of why bawra was added to Baiju’s name. One theory goes that he was called bawra (crazy) because he was madly in love with a court dancer in Chanderi. Another story goes that when his adopted son Gopal left Baiju taking his family with him, Baiju became mad searching for his granddaughter. The third story explains that he was called bawra because of his deep love for classical music. Tansen was known as one of the Navratnas or Nine Jewels of Mughal Emperor Akbar’s court. Baiju won the competition against Tansen and impressed Akbar too. After his father’s death, Baiju met his teacher Swami Haridas, and trained in a gurukula. He later became one of the court musicians of Man Singh Tomar of Gwalior after he left the court of the Raja of Chanderi. Then he became of the musicians of Raja Mansingh Tomar’s court. Legends say that Baiju Bawra could melt stone, light oil lamps by singing Raag Deepak, create rain by singing the raags Megh, Megh Malhar, or Gaud Malhar and bloom flowers by singing raga Bahar. The fact that Ajay Devgn and Sanjay Leela Bhansali will be coming together after 20 years in the biopic Gangubai Kathiawadi, has given rise to great excitement. Alia Bhatt plays the madam of a Kamathipura brothel in Mumbai during the 1960s and apparently, Ajay Devgn will play one of her gangster lovers who shaped her destiny to her meteoric rise as one of the most powerful, loved and respected madams of Kamathipura. The story is said to be loosely adapted from one of the chapters of Hussain Zaidi’s Mafia Queens Of Mumbai. Gangubai was the only brothel madam at that time who owned a black Bentley. SLB's movie is expected to go on floors this year. Says a trade source, “Last week, Ajay Devgn and Sanjay Leela Bhansali met at Anand Pandit’s Diwali party and chatted for hours. They caught up on a lot of stuff and that’s when SLB also invited him over to his office. Ajay dropped in a couple of days after that and they had meeting for more than a couple of hours. Bhansali offered him two scripts – a biopic and the other fictional, a love story, which is said to be Baiju Bawra. In Baiju Bawra the actor was offered the role of Tansen. Ajay liked his role in Gangubai as it’s an intense character – a mobster with a golden heart who teaches Gangubai the tricks of the trade and falls in love with her.” According to the source, “Ajay didn’t sign right then as he wants to do the signing and make the announcement at an auspicious date, which will be this week. The star showed the famous filmmaker some scenes his next project, a historical action drama, Tanhaji and Bhansali who himself excels in such period dramas was quite impressed. Dostana 2 will have Janhvi Kapoor and newcomer Lakshya playing siblings who fall in love with the same guy Kartik Aaryan. This time, there is no play-acting about homosexuality. In the first part of Dostana, John Abraham and Abhishek Bachchan were only pretending to be gay. Says a source close to Karan Johar and Dharma Productions, “Times have changed. There is no longer a need to be apologetic about homosexuality. Dostana 2 will be a reflection of the changing times. Recently, it was announced that Aamir Khan's mother Zeenath Hussain will be giving the first clap as the film is close to the actor's heart.

“This is my way of promoting parity in society. I have always wanted my work to speak about societal parity right from my first film Dum Laga Ke Haisha in which I was playing this beautiful, confident, young overweight girl who was comfortable in her own skin. But she is only broken and for the first time, she is hurt that the man she loves doesn't love her because of the way she looks. But she is too strong to be affected by what he has to say and she brings about a change in him. And then I am doing something similar in Bala, where I am playing a dark-skinned girl. I am not a social activist, I am just somebody who cares, somebody who is aware. I am somebody who truly wants to make a difference,” Bhumi tells exclusively. Bhumi opens up about the obsession that is prevalent among people for fair skin and calls it the total objectification of women. Madaari is the story of a man who lost his son due to the negligence of the government. He seeks revenge and kidnaps the ten-year-old son of the home minister, forcing the administration to meet his demands. This will be Irrfan Khan’s second film to hit the theatre. Nishikant Kamat's venture also stars Jimmy Shergill, who says Madaari highlights the weak nodes of our society. Talking to a daily, he said that he is really excited about its release in China. Chinese theatres are showing interest in Bollywood films and its good for our film. The release date of Madaari in China, however, is yet to be officially announced. Nowadays, the trailer of biggies usually arrives a month or 40 days before release. But for Dabangg 3, Salman Khan went the old school way and released the promo on October 23, almost two months before the film’s release, scheduled for December 20. And even here, he held simultaneous events in various cities and gave a treat to his fans. So next, he wants the film’s music to grow. Hence he decided to launch the audio of each and every song in the film. So every three days, starting from today, the Dabangg 3 team would drop a track. Hence, by mid-November, viewers will be able to listen to the complete album. This is a rarity in today’s times, when the jukebox is not out a week or even a few days before release. Interestingly, this strategy was also kind of used during Salman Khan’s 2015 Diwali release Prem Ratan Dhan Payo when the complete album was unveiled more than a month before its release.” The source continues, “All the audio songs are expected to be out by November 18. And then after November 20 or November 21, the videos of these songs will be launched. This and other activities like interviews, TV show appearances etc. will dominate the last one month of promotions of Dabangg 3.” The source before signing off says, “Salman Khan is always gung-ho about his film before release but this time, the excitement that he is exuding is something else. Baaghi 3 would be the first Hindi film to be shot in Serbia. The point, we hear, is to shoot the kind of action scenes Tiger has never done before. For this purpose, the script needed rugged unexplored locations. Says Sajid, “We zeroed-in on Serbia for its freshness and virility, also because we are being provided with all support and co-operation by the country.” Apparently, it is a very big deal for the Serbian government to have such a big production house from Bollywood shooting in their country. All precautions have been taken to ensure Tiger’s security. Says Sajid, “He has a massive fan following in every country. Now after War he is a rage in every corner of the world.” The crew leaves on Wednesday for Serbia and hopes to complete major chunks of the shooting in record time. Says Sajid, “The best part of shooting abroad is there are no distractions. Like a good father accompanying his child to boarding school, I’m just going to settle the crew in Serbia and come back to Mumbai after four days.”

The new film is expected to go on floors in the UK in January and Arjun Mathur and Tannishtha Chatterjee have been signed as one of the two principal couples in the film. Arjun has been riding high the success of his web show Made In Heaven, directed by Zoya Akhtar and this will be the next feature film that he has signed since the series. A source close to the development informs, “The film is a dark comedy inside a house that involves two couples & a Pizza Delivery Boy. Arjun and Tannishtha have been roped in to play two of the central characters, the remaining two are yet to be locked. Being an actor himself, Anshuman has a distinct vision for the characters & understands the importance of solid actors to tell his story. And both Arjun and Tannishtha fit the parts to perfection. While both of them have a certain innocence about them, they could both pass as perfect examples of anti-casting as a pair for the said role." "Since the plot is novel, the makers want to keep the highlight points in wraps. He is also in talks with two other critically and commercially acclaimed actors for the remaining two leads. Anshuman is in the process of finalising the other couple & The Delivery boy to complete the primary casting of the film.” Confirming the news, Anshuman tells us, “This is a 5 character film & each part is integral to the story. Anees Bazmee was in Rajasthan last week for the recee. They plan to shoot at real locations in London and Rajasthan. But, for the Mumbai schedule, a set will be constructed. During their outdoor schedule which will be three months long starting from January 2020, they will shoot the two songs - 'Hare Ram Hare Ram' and 'Ami Je Tomar'. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Murad Khetani and Krishan Kumar under the banner of T-Series and Cine1 Studios. Directed by Anees Bazmee, the film is written by Farhad Samji and Aakash Kaushik. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 is scheduled to release on July 31st, 2020.

This will be the third collaboration between Salman Khan and Prabhu Dheva after Wanted and Dabangg 3. Radhe is produced by Sohail Khan & Reel Life Production Pvt. Limited under the banner of Salman Khan Films. The film is reportedly the remake of the Korean movie, The Outlaws which released in 2017. It was directed by Kang Yoon-sung and starred Ma Dong-Seok and Yoon Kye-Sang.
When Dibakar Banerjee told Rajkummar that he will have to do a nude scene, he was okay with it considering that it was his job. However, he knew that he would have to inform his parents and family. The actor said that his parents were very cool and he just had to tell them and not even ask. Director Sanjay Gupta while speaking to a media house said that he has not seen a person who is more enthusiastic about cars and bikes as John is. He said that John has an impressive fleet of cars and bikes. He bought him a pick-up truck after he noticed that it was missing from his collection. Talking about John's reaction after seeing the truck, he said that the actor was shocked when he saw it parked on the premise. In 2013, John Abraham has gifted a superbike to Sanjay Gupta forgiving him defining the film in Shootout at Wadala. Mumbai Saga marks the third collaboration with the actor after Zinda and Shootout at Wadala. The makers have completed shooting a major chunk of the film. The film also features Emraan Hashmi. Amitabh Bachchan, sporting a prosthetically created unusual look plays the rambunctious landlord here, and Ayushmann the tenant. Ayushmann Khurrana wrapped up the shoot of the film in just 22 days. This is the first time Ayushmann will be seen sharing the screen with Amitabh Bachchan in a film directed by Shoojit Sircar, who also directed his debut film Vicky Donor. If what we hear is true, then apparently, the release of Jawaani Jaaneman has been pushed to next year due to reasons unknown. Revealing details on the same a source close to the project said, “The director needs to shoot a promotional song for the film with Saif that also require him to don a particular look. However, Saif is currently shooting for his next web series Tandav and has a packed schedule. Because of this the movie has been pushed from Nov 29.” The source could not disclose further details and hence, we will have to wait to see what the makers decide. Saif Ali Khan and Tabu are reuniting on screen after Hum Saath Saath Hain with Jawaani Jaaneman.
Interestingly, the Tesla Model 3 is yet to launch in India and is expected to arrive only in December 2020. However, Batra managed to acquire the vehicle and register the same in the US itself. As for the variant, it is still unclear whether Batra has acquired the standard or the long ranger version of the Model 3. It's been reported that Preity Zinta and Vir Das will soon an episode of Fresh Off the Boat which is written and produced by Rachna Fruchbom. The episode will revolve around an Indian family whose daughter attends school with Eddie. The girl’s parents, DC and Meena, will be essayed by Vir Das and Preity Zinta. They plan to film the episode on November 18 which won't serve as a backdoor pilot but a potential spin-off titled Magic Motor Inn on ABC Network. It’s to Bhansali’s credit that he is choosing to direct two projects in stark contrast to the other. And the filmmaker has offered the lead and title role of the young Baiju Bawra to Ranveer Singh. Who else can play the passionate, emotional, deeply vengeful and yet intensely romantic Baiju, than Ranveer? SLB and Ranveer have definitely met and the filmmaker has offered the young actor the role of Baiju Bawra. The movie won’t start before next year and by then Ranveer would have completed his other films.” The source adds, “Baiju Bawra is about a young and extremely talented dhrupad singer-composer by the same name, who challenged composer, musician and Hindustani classical vocalist Tansen, to a singing duel, to avenge the death of his musician father, at the court of Mughal Emperor Akbar. When Tansen's sentries tries to stop Baiju's father from singing, and he dies in the struggle, he makes the young Baiju promise to take revenge against Tansen. If Ranveer gives his nod to the movie, it will be again another challenging role for him as he will need some training and knowledge as a singer and musician. It will be interesting to see who plays his romantic interest – will it be Deepika Padukone or Priyanka Chopra? Priyanka holds an edge as she’s an internationally acclaimed singer in her own right.” There are various versions of why bawra was added to Baiju’s name. One theory goes that he was called bawra (crazy) because he was madly in love with a court dancer in Chanderi. Another story goes that when his adopted son Gopal left Baiju taking his family with him, Baiju became mad searching for his granddaughter. The third story explains that he was called bawra because of his deep love for classical music. Tansen was known as one of the Navratnas or Nine Jewels of Mughal Emperor Akbar’s court. Baiju won the competition against Tansen and impressed Akbar too. After his father’s death, Baiju met his teacher Swami Haridas, and trained in a gurukula. He later became one of the court musicians of Man Singh Tomar of Gwalior after he left the court of the Raja of Chanderi. Then he became of the musicians of Raja Mansingh Tomar’s court. Legends say that Baiju Bawra could melt stone, light oil lamps by singing Raag Deepak, create rain by singing the raags Megh, Megh Malhar, or Gaud Malhar and bloom flowers by singing raga Bahar.
